I don't know what you're talking about... A couple years ago I picked up the LG v20 which was sold at Verizon unbeknownst to most people. In fact very few people bought it but that doesn't mean it wasn't available. V30 was an excellent Improvement. And the v40 is truly a well-rounded fantastic phone. I am not budget limited I bought it because I think it's the best phone available plus where I live I don't have service and I can't get Samsung to ring on Wi-Fi never have been able to do that. But listen the LG v40 is just a beautiful phone in every way. It runs super fast all of the wireless cameras and speakers in my house which has been a tough assignment for my Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and 821 based phones. The finish on the v40 is beautiful one of the nicest looking phones out there. And a quad DAC means that both my v20 that I used to have and my new v40 are the only phones out there worth using with my $1,000 focal headphones ... which saves me $500 that I don't have to invest in something like a pioneer dedicated DAC unit. People can get onto TH-cam and make off hand comments a lot easier then people can do the research into these types of things and look at the demographic that these phones are catered to. When the v20 came out it was the first phone that they were actually doing video advertisements on TH-cam using the phone itself. It's always been a very heavy media phone but people just buy the G Series instead therefore the V series has been depreciating and underrated and under recognized! The fact of the matter is the v20 was an unknown and unnoticed phone the v40 is finally being seen as a super high-tech ahead-of-its-time phone. Well so were its predecessors. Nobody knows these things because they are too busy writing rather than reading!

Apple didn't actually removed the audio jack. They just repositioned it to the middle. So that there would be two speakers for better sound.
And the new earphones that comes from the box has a usb type c connector instead of a jack. Which you can connect to the charging port of an iPhone instead to the audio jack
So how about you do some research first before telling that "tHanKs to wHat AppLE DiD"

First I dont wanna pay 100$ more for some earplugs and second you cant charge and listen at the same time. But wait there is a splitter? You have to buy that thing too and you have to carry it around the whole time.
Also they dont had to remove it, they could have just placed the input somewhere different like on the topside or something. I mean other smartphones can do that too, why cant Apple do it then?

I gotta say you really did not spend much time on the most important aspect of this phone.... The hi-fi quad dac. There are only two phone brands in recent memory that have done that... HTC with boomsound and LG with the quad dac. It may seem useless to some at first, but if you spend 15 minutes with a galaxy s8/s9/note... etc you notice immediately that the headphone use with a phone like that sounds dull and bland.
The LG smartphones make a $15 pair of headphones sound like $300 headphones....
I'm sure you swap phones all the time, but I HIGHLY recommend you spend just a week using a quad dac LG phone for all your audio (especially for car Auxiliary use and watching youtube videos with headphones). You'll never be able to go back to Apple or Samsung.

Nope. In a 100 years the camera is your eyeballs. You do not even need to have anything installed inside you. They would have a device that could tap to all your senses and download it in real time to anything that you can think of.
Hell for all i know, that device is probably just a storage unit the size of a biscuit with 1000TB and you can just go back at the end of the day and look for anything you want to remember for that day for a number of limited days, months or years.
Spells the end of physical cameras for consumer. The accessories would be glasses that allows you to zoom to objects with as much res your eyes can see. Your eyeballs are the best sensor there is. Why the need to make so many lenses when the best one is already there for you to use?

Niranjan Pazhani Chamy With my experience with turning airplane mode on, and force stop/disabling apps, helped a lot. My V20 last all day with on screen time and music listening. The battery eating comes with the phone looking for a signal, that's one reason I keep my old phone for just calling. I turn off things that eat battery like Location, Bluetooth, NFC, and turn them on when I need them. Social media apps are always running even if you closed the app, that eats a decent amount of battery too. It's not really an battery issue, just too much demand for its size

I am using the lg v20. Battery life is way better than its competitors and that quad dac really rocks. It can drive high end and even dj headphones. I plugged this into a custom car stereo and it sounded better than a standard headunit. LG is the sleeper smartphone

I went from the LG V20 to the LG V40 and I LOVE the upgrade! I was worried at first because I liked the removable battery in the V20, but they've definitely optimized as I've never had a battery issue and it lasts considerably longer. (I listen to podcasts and music all day and night long) It's amazingly lighter weight I just sorta miss the power button being in the fingerprint sensor, but with the double-tap-to-wake, it just boils down to they made it a LOT thinner and lighter. But get a case as it's slippery as f***

I purchased the LG V35 on Project Fi. I love it. The best part of the phone (V3x-V4x) is the manual controls for both photo and video. As a content creator you can pretty much jump to the front of the line for quality using the included tools (if you learn to use them correctly of course). I'm happy with my V35 given how I actually use my phone to create content. The telephoto lens of the V40 didn't get me too excited since I would use another hand-held camera for telephoto situations anyway. Great review, glad to see LG is getting some good press about their V-series.

    • @blurpleunc
      @blurpleunc 6 ปีที่แล้ว

With the disappointment of the Pixel 3s, I'm seriously considering the v35 thinq on Fi as well. But Fi hasn't improved as much as I thought it would (doesn't auto switching LTE when it's available, often have to force switch). LG notch isn't that bad AND it has a headphone jack with nice audio internals. Kinda wish the v40 was Fi friendly.

This is how you make a pretty looking phone. Google please take some notes here for your pixel line. This one doesn't have the slimmest bezels and it still has a notch but they do it in an appealing way. They doubled down on the headphone jack as well. Making it a feature of the phone with the high audio quality was exactly how most android phones should have handled this. If this was what the Pixel 3 XL looked like I would preorder ASAP.

I worked for 2 years in telesales, selling mobile devices and I gotta say, for years LG has been my main device simply because it is the only company around who tries to innovate with their devices still.
Since the G4 they've been criminally underrated in terms of what their devices can do vs their competitors. I liken the LG, Samsung and Apple trio to the Xbox, ps and Nintendo trio. Yeah Nintendo doesn't have the most powerful devices but they're willing to step out of the burn to try and provide as unique an experience as possible compared to other devices in the market.

The battery is actually not a big deal. Bigger battery capacity does not always mean that it last longer. I currently use a V30 and switched from the Note lineup. I can say that it certainly lasts longer than ALOT of other top end phones. Even the 4000 mAh of the Razer phone is no match against the 3300 mAh of the V30.
What i'm trying to say here is that LG is very good with optimization. Therefore, it runs less power hungry than other devices. This includes a lot of Samsung phones.

I don't know if you've actually used a V30, but in my experience, the V30 always edged out on battery performance everytime while having the smaller battery.
I know this because I was stuck between switching to either a V30s or a s9+. Didn't know which one to get, so I bought both and did extensive testing. The phone that I resold was the S9+.
Not to bag on it because it is a good phone, but it was just loaded with bloatware and the V30 just had so much more to offer and ran better for me than the S9+.
The only Samsung phone that might have better battery life is the Note 9, but only because it has the bigger battery. I still say that LG has better battery optimization.

There are 2 power saving modes available in the “Device Maintenance” setting on Samsung phones. One adds 7 hrs (dims brightness and barely lowers resolution to where is isn’t noticeable) and one adds a staggering 50 hrs(the only things available are default apps; black background, biometrics off, search speed is lower, and other things.) This info is from my S8 that has the default setting of having a 26 hour battery life.

I don't think they are overprice? I mean the dac supports up to DSD256 which is the highest bitrate support for any smartphone currently plus it sounds so clean and smooth ! (I own an Aune X1S). I have the V30+ and i'm not sure about the V40 but the V30 has 2 hi-fi microphone which records far better than most phone. The MSRP for V30(non plus) was 750$ with 64gb ROM but that was only with 3 lenses with different aperture(2 rear 1 front) while the V40 has 5 lenses with each having diff aperture as you can see from his video or any other reviewer. So i think V40 is a step up from the V30 with some extra benefits which means that i think it is worth extra money for it.
Edit: unless if i'm missing the point and you were talking about the V40 is pricy instead of "overpriced" then i agree with ya ! Sorry.

Why has pretty much every other review channel trashed this phone? I'm glad his reaction wasn't the same "Samsung has this. Apple has that" nonsense. Lew at least got excited about the features that pretty much only LG offers. And he only scratched the surface
    Boombox speaker
Three cameras basically covering any scenario you'll ever need them in
Manual video (including audio) and camera controls
The best 32-bit headphone quality on any smartphone (32-bit Hi-Fi quad-DAC). Period.
High quality dual microphone recording setup capable of recording loud environments without distortion
HDR 10 bit sensor for rich photos and videos
    RAW video and photo recording
MIL-STD 810G compliance without adding weight
    Rich and detailed OLED panel
Nearly full personalization options for almost everything
    Etc etc etc
I can't even remember everything LG phones offer
I've owned both the V20 and V30 and they are by far my favorite phones yet. The battery life has never been a problem for me due to software optimization and the UI worked fluently throughout my entire ownership. Most of the complaints people can be improved through updates.

@@stealthninja5978 on a few other phones I've had, I had battery issues even though they were supposed to be great.
I was really abusing my V20 though. Draining it almost all the way before recharging, third party wall charger, day-in day-out videos and pictures and listening to music with the DAC on, storage always full and hardly ever restarting it. Towards the very end I did notice slight degradation, but that was most likely my fault.
If your battery really has degraded, maybe you can buy a new one (also a rare feature for back then, even more so now). But then also look up the best way to charge and keep care of your battery.
Use the LG charger, keep it charged as much as possible (that's as far as I know the best for today's lithium ion batteries), restart the phone once a week or so. Then you should be good

I have this phone and I love it. I have only ever owned LG phones, going on 11 years I think. Compared to all of the phones owned by friends and family, I find LG to be the most versatile and user friendly.

You'd be lucky as hell though if you find 10 eq sliders in any of those apps, if you opt for that option. I swear though, I don't think you can find the level of configuration that LG has set up with their phones.

You forgot to mention it's IP68 waterproof. Double tap the screen to turn on/off, the voice recognition guided help if the display or touch screen is broken, manual camera modes, the clip history tray, the notch screen is assignable to info you can display while the phone is off and apps you can invoke (such as flashlight, calculator, calendar, etc), keep unlocked based upon a GPS location or Bluetooth device, multi camera photos (back and front), and pin to boot settings that locks the phone prior to boot.

how is the wired audio quality on the Note 9 ? After years of LG phones I am seriously considering moving to Samsung (Note9) or Huawei (Mate 20 Pro), but the only thing that's still making me hesitate is audio quality. But I'm tired of LG's update cycles (or rather, the lack of updates at all) and the problems with their displays and the "decent but could do better" battery that just doesnt hold a day after a year and a half.
I like loud music that sounds good and has a lot of bass, but I'm scared of ending up with a phone with a flat sound and not enough power to drive 80Ohm headphones. I don't know what the USC-C dongles are worth or what the samsung devices can deliver...

    • @CanadianRandom
      @CanadianRandom 6 ปีที่แล้ว

@@SpeedyCraft51 the audio is amazing on the note 9 especially when using the surround sound with Dolby armor turned on. I haven't used the headphone Jack much as I use bluetooth headphones but I did test it and it sounded great. My understanding is the headphone Jack is a bit better on LG but I doubt its significant.
Edit : Also I wouldn't get the Huawei if you like the expandable memory on the LG or Samsung. Also I'm not a fan of the notch on the new lg and Huawei.
