Also, the user used to be able to remove the batteries from phones, not anymore. Another thing is, with old phones, you used to be able to completely switch off the phone at night and the alarms would still go off to wake you up. But as far as I am aware, almost all phones now you have to leave them on all night for the alarm to go off......

I had a motorcycle accident & the phone flew and the lower screen broke, but to my surprise the phone still works 100% and the camera is the same as well.. that was 2015.. I gave it to my girlfriend, & she is still using it up until now........ wow long story.. i know..

Trey miller if you were to use it every 3 minutes constantly (which you wont because sleep and other things you do) that would equal about 500 every day (assuming you never sleep). At that rate of constantly opening and closing it every 3 minutes it would reach the 50,000 mark in around 100 days. If you factor in the reasons why you wouldn't be using it (sleep, work, school etc.) Then you could easily get it to atleast a year (still isnt that great though) EDIT: this is all assuming you still use it every 3 minutes whenever you're using it
That's 50k cycles in ideal conditions btw. Which is why I added "with portable devices" in my comment. Phones sometimes get dropped, which is the primary reason that phones are solid state with no moving parts. One drop on the wrong spot could potentially break the motor completely.
I mean, speakers, at least for me, are pretty irrelevant. Few are the times when I just play music that i really like through my speakers. Typically I'll use a better bluetooth speaker, or I'll use headphones. I don't really get why people get a phone because of its speaker.

What would be futuristic would be no phone at all. We would modify our eyes when we are born or even before so that we can see information on top of the world like augmented reality. The information would come wirelessly from a computer at home or just a remote server broadcasting to everyone's eyes. We would control the display with our brain. We can already control electronic stuff with brain today. The information could also be downloaded directly to our brain, augmented but some chip, without the need of visual representation. That sounds crazy today but I think that's a possible future of personal information and communications systems. The device will melt with our body.
And that may still be true E. A K this is just a prototype, like he said. This phone could not appear for years on the market while they finish production. Also Apple is already on Face ID gen 2 which is coming on the 2018 model already confirmed.

Trrroll Because you always need to insert the password when booting the IPhone. Only after insertig the password the face unlock is avaible, just like the Google Face unlock. It "didnt work" because the IPhone got turned on while the presentation was running and when he wanted to show the face unlock, the phone had deactivated it because nobody had entered the password for the first time. you actually can see the error message telling that if you watch the presentation again.

I think due to the existence of a motor, that's more likely to get damaged from the drop. I'm more worried about the lifespan of the motor tbh. Mechanical parts are usually never a good thing with portable devices. Especially with the amount of pictures some people take. There's a finite number of times it can function

Trey miller if you were to use it every 3 minutes constantly (which you wont because sleep and other things you do) that would equal about 500 every day (assuming you never sleep). At that rate of constantly opening and closing it every 3 minutes it would reach the 50,000 mark in around 100 days. If you factor in the reasons why you wouldn't be using it (sleep, work, school etc.) Then you could easily get it to atleast a year (still isnt that great though)
EDIT: this is all assuming you still use it every 3 minutes whenever you're using it
That's 50k cycles in ideal conditions btw. Which is why I added "with portable devices" in my comment. Phones sometimes get dropped, which is the primary reason that phones are solid state with no moving parts. One drop on the wrong spot could potentially break the motor completely.

I mean, speakers, at least for me, are pretty irrelevant. Few are the times when I just play music that i really like through my speakers. Typically I'll use a better bluetooth speaker, or I'll use headphones. I don't really get why people get a phone because of its speaker.

The information could also be downloaded directly to our brain, augmented but some chip, without the need of visual representation.
That sounds crazy today but I think that's a possible future of personal information and communications systems. The device will melt with our body.

I think due to the existence of a motor, that's more likely to get damaged from the drop. As a result, your cameras won't be able to push up (assuming there's no manual override as a temporary solution until it gets fixed) so yeah, it's probably gonna be BOTH a cracked screen and NO camera/FaceID functionality lol
