Whats your view on the ID.BUZZ?
Now you have together to work on a new concept similar to Mercedes' concept EQT as a "minivan" powered fully electric in 4×4 power. This Exemplar is very important, in my opinion, for the countries that have a full nature of Montaigne roads, where constantly up and down must be driven. Similar to Switzerland, Lebanon, Japan, Korea, or India, not all countries have the same nature as Germany. You can also make it more attractive by adding a solar panel system to the top as a range extender. On that way, you will sell a lot of them around the world. In actual fact, already all car manufacturers had done a copy of the minivan design powered by oil-combustion motors.

Let's do it!
Modern Version of the VW T2
I don't like the looks that much. Volkswagen use to look way better. Also electric cars are overall pretty low quality in terms of reliability and convenience.
My wife has a Buzz. Bad 1. In real world situations in Norway, with 80% charging range is 300 km in winter and 350 km in summer. It depends on what one wants to do. This is perfectly adequate for us. 2. Our previous 7 seater was only used twice in 10.5 years, to carry more than 5 people. For most people two rows (5 people) is enough. 3. We have never used the sound system. 4. & 5. In agreement with you. I find the car is far too aggressive most of the time. From my perspective with adaptive speed control, it stays too close to the car in front. Good 1. Cargo space. Our Buzz is now fitted with 6 large storage boxes to hold groceries, etc. These will also support a mattress at the same height as the folded rear seats. 2. Our dealer advised us against slow moving electric second row sliding doors! 3. Appearance. Yes, it is a cheerful car. We have white and yellow 4. We have never used the arm rests. My son does though, and he uses the sound system. 5. Appreciate the turning radius. Missing = width. The car is wide for narrow Norwegian roads.
Great summary and to hear about your experience with the Buzz! 👍
You totally nailed it. Straight to the point and observant. So many car reviewers are fixated on speed etc and miss the things that matter. Also, it’s the only vehicle to make use of the compact form factor of electric motors. No bonnet/frunk etc just tons of useable space. Like, it’s the size of a small SUV and has twice the space inside. This is the future form-factor of cars.
I have one. I love it. This colour too.
Minor negatives: no opening rear window, control switches on the panel don't light up at night
Big positive. Speed of charging with super fast chargers 10 to 80% in less than 30 minutes.
Nice! Congratulations to a cool car!
That jumpy forward acceleration at low speed would be a no-go for me. 😳
There will be a 7-seat configuration here in the US. Hopefully other countries will get it soon.
Yes, seven seater with longer wheelbase.. nice!
Indeed, VW does impressive jobs in EVs as a German auto company, which may not be comparable to Tesla and a whole bunch of Chinese EVs, but still outstands in the Europe.
Excellent points.
I wish you could install the bench seat from the ID Buzz Cargo in this one giving you 6 seats. Then if it was possible to add seats behind, oh boy, this would be The Family Hauler.
That would be a great combo!
Un laden weight (road tax) and tyre wear is really important.in the uk this is classed as a commercial vehicle because of its weight .
This was a very good review. Well thought out indeed. I’m interested and would really like to know the MSRP. If it’s high VW may price themselves out of the market. Time will tell. Next concern is range, and charging times while traveling. I’d like to see this over 300 miles. Cheers!
Thank you. MSRP US?
@@ItsOnlyElectric Yes, MSRP US.
@@sherlock1895 You can't buy this version in the US. Only the long wheelbase one 250mm longer. It starts at $58,500, which is quite a lot better than European pricing (That version will probably start at about £63,000, €69,000). The short wheelbase one reviewed here is from £57,115 €64,500.
It's a first generation product with this platform. People have complained about it. it looks good, but that's it.
Awesome video. I see on the net that longer version gets 210kw motor and 82 and 91kwh gross capacity battery. While normal version get 150kw. Why is that since ID7 with 82kwh battery get 210kw motor???
I guess it will be to trim levels in the future where you can get an entry level buzz (pro) with smaller battery and weaker motor and a Pro S with bigger pack and more powerful motor.
The Long wheelbase version looks out of proportion and not as good as the standard wheels base version. So I really hope that the standard wheelvaae will be able to spec as mentioned above.
@@ItsOnlyElectric I'm just curious. It would be the shame that 210kw motor doesn't end up in the normal version also.
And I agree, normal version looks much better to me. And with 3rd row seat would be great.
@ yes, and all would be perfect on the standard wheelsbase.
@@ItsOnlyElectric definitely.
Form and function match perfectly on this vehicle.. A utilitarian dream car. I'm waiting a few years though to see how things shake out. Years ago, I had a Jetta diesel that just sort of self disintegrated after about 80,000 miles. I'm now wary of all things VW.
Yes, I get that. The BUZZ is a nice and cool looking car. A bit short of a range though.
Are there any tests on real winter roads? Type steep and icy (Scandinavian)? I do not want to get stuck in my own driveway...
You will get in trouble in deep snow and steep driveways during winter. The questions is how often you get into that situation. I think @bjornnyland may have tested it I snow.
I live in Andorra. Steep mountains and snow. We have winter tyres on it at the moment. Works as well as any 2 wheel drive on snow. Not brilliant, not a disaster
Thanks for reporting
The worst thing its a lack of cupholders and central armrest on the second row
Good points.
Yet at the front my wife has for the first time said, in a car, there is "almost" enough placement room for her things
i don't understand the part about not being able to move forward smoothly. Is there not enough "resolution" to the accelerator pedal? With my BMW i3 I can creep forward extremely slowly if desired. Seems strange that VW wouldn't be able to do that also.
Slightly uphill from standstill it behaves a bit rough.
@@ItsOnlyElectric that would be very annoying if you had to do it often. Also the low backup cam resolution, while not a major thing would be annoying on a modern, not-cheap vehicle.
That situation occurs every day since my driveway looks like that. Agree on the cam, expecting better cameras on a vw in that price point from 2023.
To us this is the cheapest and most adored new car we've had so far. 💙🤍
About the aggressive start: ours doesn't have that problem, not even on our slightly sloped driveway. There's a lot of precision, moving both forwards and backwards. Otherwise the car would break by itself everyday when parking because it only just fits between the pavement and our gate. We have the cargo edition.
What I hate about it is the silly and loud sound you hear when the car goes to sleep or starts up. The car is activated by sitting down on the driver's seat. Leaning to one side while stalled is enough to shut down the car and have it chime.
Another detail is that in the beginning two parking disks 'vanished' from the car. In the end we found out that they had slipped underneath the window. We managed to retrieve them from their hiding place but now we have to remember to not only put the disk on display -not my forte- but also to take it away before taking off or it will slip down again. Same problem with the parking permit from work: it now safely lies in the smaller side window.
Apart from that we adore this car and as we're only leasing it, the price is more than okay: its monthly cost is lower than that of the new diesel van we previously owned. But, this had not been the case without our solar panels. A fast refill (75kW/h) is more expensive /100km than filling up our diesel van used to be in 2023.
@kathleen4230 thanks you for your detailed and nice information and feedback.
The bad things are definitely bad. I will wait until version 3 or 4 of this vehicle. - WW
500km of range, 7 seats and more power for the standard wheelbase wpiöuld be a good new version.
Greetings from southern Ontario Canada I was looking at the subaru solterra but here in Canada it's $61000 all fees and taxes so this minivan would be the same price 😮😊
Hi! The solterra is the same car as the Toyota BZ4X and has gotten really bad reviews here with it's bad efficiency and short range unfortunately. Have you tried it?
@@ItsOnlyElectric ahh no I'm not in the market for an ev unless I play the lottery it might happen
yes, i agree with your all "+" and "-" .
Thanks 🙂
It’s all about your requirements. Battery is OK if the charging infrastructure is reliable. Who really needs another row of seats? It’s fine already if you have 3 kids and all the junk you need to carry. If you have more seats bang goes your first positive 😂 My sound system is OK. I guess it’s a personal thing. I do however agree with you on the jerky movement and poor reversing camera. You forgot to mention the poor software which I consider to be the biggest negative.
You are totally right about the software!
How do you like Volvo's EVs, do you have any plans on reviewing those? Thank you!
Funny enough I haven't reviewed a single vovlo. I'm going to do that vit I'm waiting dorvthecupsödsted variants thats coming this summer. I'm not impressed by the current ones when it comes to range and efficiency. But the update will change that.
@@ItsOnlyElectric 😂I agree with you, that's why I want to get some comments from you on Volvos.
Will do for sure!
rear windows not opening properly is a terrible design.
Yes, strange design decision
Finally someone commenting on not having rear working windows.
What was VW thinking?
The US version isn’t any better. Tiny little windows?!? WTH!! It’s like they totally forgot about the windows and just made a small one as a patch. Failed designers!!
I am surprised so few reviews even mention it and noone have a really big problem with it. Like, why wouldn't people (the kids) in the back want to roll down the windows? It's not a bus, really, just a car. My youngest can get car sick and opening up for a bit of air helps him. This is really a shame.
@jonasbrinkworse5436 the long wheel base version has a window fortunately
Camp mode please and cup holders in the back for the American version please....and....more more battery please.
Camp mode is so needed!
@@ItsOnlyElectric The omission of both camp mode and V2L/V2H is ridiculous. The hardware for both these things is there - it just needs minor software changes. (You can already ask it to charge with a bidirectional charger, but it just terminates the connection if the flow goes backwards. There is no need for it to do that). And it's obviously a vehicles you can comfortably sleep in so camp mode should be there from the start. Currently you have to put a 17Kg weight on the front seat to keep it awake.
Yes, wonder why it takes so long
This doesn't make me hopeful or excited as I once was hearing that the vw bus was coming to Canada 😢
lol if you like music you turn the base down to enjoy the music loud
Haha..or only listen to music without base.
Are you located in Canada or the US
Sweden. So far from north America. :)
Charge port location? You never covered it.
I did but in my review (on the wrong side): th-cam.com/video/513xD1xp8PM/w-d-xo.html
0:02 it's behind the largish door/flap bottom back of the van just under the tail light (partly covered by the open sliding door) - it's a Type 2 charger port.
True. Why isn't in the front nose?
262 miles for a $55k car? helll noooo. What was VW thinking? Epic fail before its even out in US.
I was expecting better range with the bigger battery and new Powertrain.
forgets to put arm rest up 🙈🤣
Actually happened to me 😂
hard to not hit things 😐🤣
Is that your type 29 on the profile picture? So iconic. Tried to get on hold on one for the recording, without success.
An 82kWh LFP battery with 80kWh of ALL really usable capacity would be better.
Why? It would be heavier so reduce range further and maybe wouldn't physically fit.
What? I don't mean to be rude, but this bus looks awful compared to the vintage type. The lights are atrocious, and the general shape is all wrong. I know the shape is harder to do with safety, but at least the circular lights and V-shape on the front could have stayed. But this is my opinion, and I won't blame you for having a different one. I tend to greatly prefer classic styles to modern ones. Thanks for making this video!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. The classic version is amazing. But I like that they at least try do design a car a bit different and compared to the modern combustion multivans the us buzz looks so much better and more charismatic.
how old is this...... third row is well published as happening
7 seater publishes just after realeasing the video. We are talking about days. :)
All cars have their pros and cons; whats up with this car?
Yes, they all do!
hello,I would add in 6 a defect the infotainment completely outdated and ugly
Yes, the infotainment leaves a lot to wish. Android Auto/Apple car play makes up for that at least a bit.
