Software seems clumsy. The software must think as the user thinks in that situation, this car software doesn't. "It has very bad software" (19:33) Forcasting larger battery reserves than reality is simply creating dangerous situations. If the car stops hill-up at a two lane road...the accident is near. The last thing you want. The test driver is telling VW-engineering what to do..(20:41). The car heater (consuming 6 kW) uses half of the energy of a small car driving on a highway. For defrosting the screens it is a must...
nice video. I've been waiting a long time in the USA for this to be available, but the more I learn about it the longer I want to keep my reliable, comfortable, fully paid for 2012 Chrysler Town and Country minivan. Our everyday driver is a 2021 BMW i3s, and as much as I'd love to go 100% EV (and how cool the VW looks) the price and compromises of the idBuzz (relatively short range, expensive, less than amazing tech) don't make much sense for us. cheers
You are getting the newer LWB version in the US which should have quite a few of the v1 shortcomings fixed: more efficient, heat pump, bidirectional charging (allegedly), newer software, bigger, more power. Can't remember if they are fixing the stupid not-buttons. The extra battery is probably more or less countered by the larger vehicle, but the improved efficiency should get at least a few more miles. We'll have to wait and see on that.
My EV experience comes from Model 3 and the Y. Got my Buzz for almost about a year ago. The bad software and buttons in the Buzz is reason enough not to get the car for many. Can’t believe that VW put this crap into this otherwise great practical and very comfortable car. Like you said, a heat pump should also be standard equipment in any EV in Europe., at least in Norway. I shall be very careful about rumors but I’ve heard, even when the 4WD long wheelbase Buzz comes along with a slightly bigger battery, the range will not improve. I really hope that will not be the case. Anyway. A heat pump, better buttons, improved software including an app where you can actually adjust settings and 4WD will make the car a whole lot better. Still got the Y too though. Love your video.
the Buttons on the steering wheel are a pain. They feel so bad. :( In a rented ID3 we crashed the software on the first kilometers by going to the license agreement. Than we needed to navigate with the telephone. After a few hours parking, the infotainment was working again...yeah...

I watched a video you put out on a Tesla and was very impressed with your optimism with the car while seeming to be objective. When I saw this video I was very excited to hear your objective opinion on this vehicle and was curious to hear why you were getting rid of it. I made it through 15 minutes of your constant negativity and had to stop watching. I’m not sure why you are selling it but it seems to be a good idea.
Thank you so much. I am trying my best to stay objective in every video. The negativity against the Buzz is a lot due to it actually being an early vehicle from Volkswagen, and it having a lot of issues, but I do highlight a lot of the stuff that I like as well. I love the turning radius, drivetrain the seat materials and certain aspects of the infotainment.

Just discovered your channel and enjoyed the content. Do you think that a heat pump would give real efficiency gains at -17°? Here in Canada I find the heat pump is a real benefit from +5° to -5° beyond those temperatures the heat pump either has to work really hard or at the warmer end the heat is hardly needed so there aren’t many kw saved.
Heatpumps are different from each other. Some are more effective down low, and some are not. It depends on the refrigiants ability to capture the little heat that is actually available in the air. In these EVs, you are often able to capture heat from motors, battery etc. which helps with the efficiency when it is cold. It is difficult to measure though, but I think a full octovalve system like Tesla uses, absolutely does offer a benefit in the cold. Thank you so much for watching!
AI of EV, using autonomous driving and parking surely the megatrend of global car market, which is making progress with one way of NO Return. Don't you think the traditional cars powered by ICEs can accomplish the abovesaid maneuvers like the power motors do in BEVs? Any comment?
They can, and they do. Brands that make EVs and ICE cars put the same "self-driving" tech in both cars. It is nothing new with EVs, it is just modern cars. Same with touch screens.

Seems that the car assistance features have to cover your ass a lot. In addition complaining about range and not heating up the batteries as needed, while knowing it is needed. Instead complaining a lot, very norwegian? Not to my experience. I am sorry, but I only had a chance to meet very knowledgeable, smart and humble norwegians, yet, even in the most remote places. Even got speed-trapped.
At the time you published this video it hadnt been announced, but at this point VW has partnered with Rivian to get access to better software, so hopefully that issue gets resolved in the future. your complaints about the VW are all because Volkswagen is cheap. We own a US spec 2022 ID.4 and it has a heatpump. Starting in 2023 though they removed the heat pumps to save money.
I had a VW GTE years back. it was the last VW ever, I will never own a car from this brand again. the EV part was horrible, on top of that was the VW service. every problem was talked out with 'o we will do a software update'. sometimes it was in the service twice a week. the special DSG gearbox broke 3 times and VW support was mediocre. Sometimes I had to discover in the morning that the car stopped charging halfway. Generally i felt like a guinnea pig. after that i got a Nissan Leaf for a while and that was by leaps a better car.
I want to know what normal person has time in their life for all this charging jigery pokery nonsense? I get in a car, I drive, I fill up with petrol when required, that's it. No one has time for all this added stress, preplanning, finger crossing, praying and hoping nonsense!
As long as there is no reasonable range with a few minutes charging time, i will never buy an EV. For the time being Iam still happy with my Porsche 911 4S, especially on icy or slippery roads….👍👍👍

Quite a nonsensical vehicle for travelling. 14:43 Charging full, then having 118km to have the battery estimated to 20% remaining? The Buzz is more a vehicle for short-haul city transport. It is advertised as a family vehicle, but there it is crap.
@@RoamingNorway I do a lot of car traveling withy my family, and friends, and having to stop every 120-150km for "refueling" is certainly not what I consider as family friendly.... a diesel 4x4 VW bus is, what I consider family friendly, when traveling long distance.
Fact_HW is ok. Software is junk. Price is ridicolous. Just the same as with the ID.3, ID.4 ID.7, Enyaq, all Audis and Porsches. And the App is useless. I would not want to have a future EV without the same functionality as Tesla. Thats a mandatory functionality.

They should have made a lightweight Porsche with less than 1400kg, 60kWh battery and 0-100 under 3 seconds. A sporty car. A E-Boxster or even a E-911. Not a overweight behemoth. Even my Model 3 is faster than this thing. The Skoda Enyaq is well made, very nice and comfy interior and it works ok. But it is -as all VAG products - much too expensive. If VW produces acceptable Software, UI and App and lowers their price into Tesla and BYD regions i could consider at least a Skoda again. 90K for a IDBuzz? Sorry, i'll wait for my Cybertruck which will cost roughly the same.

Nice video. I missed your buddy Pecco! cheers
He will return in another viceo :)
getting the van as a service car about mars. Just the normal. Probably no heat pump. But not that cold around Bergen.
Man, I love the music @ 15:00... Nice video too btw. ❤
Thank you!
Nice video, this car seems not well thought through, would need twice the battery size to be any good.
Sure, it could be a little larger.
@Roaming Norway
Do you mean that traditional car of ICE and mech. transmission systems can do the same maneuvers as power/servo motor do? How can autonomous driving, automatic parking including 360 degree turning, and other precision controls be accomplished without electric motor/
Servo motor and AI control system? Power motor is superior to ICE for high thermal efficiency, torque, precision maneuvers, cost and more…
BEV surely is not a new stuff but a megatrend caucus the Energy Storage/battery tech. of secondary type is undergoing a major breakthrough, right ?
Not necesserily 360 turns but enough for ADAS and "self driving"
Sitting in a car, searching for places where to charge your EV, calculating how long you can ride with it, it jus nonsense... If you don't have what to do in your live, then yes, maybe it is interesting experience, but for day life it's just dont fit in this world yet.
Depends where one lives. In developed countries there are plenty of infrastructure. Personally saved $8k per yr on gas alone so my EV will have paid for itself this year.

You are right, AI of EV, using autonomous driving and parking surely the megatrend of global car market, which is making progress with one way NO Return
Not in yours maybe, but just fine in my life
@@tcat0211 saving? depends on your gas car comparison, medium diesel cars pretty good economy, depreciation of ev so far a disaster, time is money, stopping at mostly horrible charging areas, and endless mcdonalds or burgerking snacks with all these 30 minutes or more stops gets very tiring in the long run, gas prices could easily be a lot cheaper, they are high now by market manipulation and poor politicsl decisions. Insurance premiums fir ev’s have run away in some countries. I have nothing against ev but the practicalities are poor and the whole concept of better environment is a huge joke, i mean billions of huge 300kilo+ nasty chemical batteries? an environment disaster far greater than plant food co2😅
And the diference with/witout heat pumb @-16 C is?
What type of app and reader are you using to se all info on your phone? Looking for something that works with my sq8 Etron
OBD MX2 and carscanner should work with the Etron. Nice car btw!
So how often did you charge for this only 500 km long trip? When I think about that my truck uses a terrible amount of fuel but still makes 1.200 km before I have to hit the gas station ...
Only need to charge once, but two shorter ones fit my schedule. My Tesla could probably go all the way without charging.
@@RoamingNorway how is the situation down in Norway right now? Heard that northern Sweden was hit by a severe cold front and southern Norway by severe snowfalls?
So far I'm happy with my ICE powered pickup, there's not much choice for electric ones so far. But sooner or later I guess I have to do the change to electric as well. Especially in case I'd move to Norway once simply wouldn't be able to afford the pickup truck
It is fine. Of course some people will notice range loss on roadtrips, but I dont think people road trip right now.@@EnjoyFirefighting
many people from Germany are on road trips up north right now ^^ @@RoamingNorway

I'm a big fan of EV's but your country have a lot of Oil, cold weather and long distance roads : Petrol cars suits perfect for you !
Get some "dekkvask" all the salty dirty water stick to your tyres and make them slippery... Spray on, wait for a minute, drive into a clean area, and your grip is back
Good tip!
Bra saker dette. Keep up the good work!
Great content - fellow Norwegian :)
Takk!
Very interesting content……
But why would anybody want 3EV’s ??? 😂
🇬🇧
I only want two as you can see in the video 🙌😆
Great video
Thank you for your vid.
Thanks for watching!
only 80kwh, holly crap. my whole house in Ukraine have whopping 5 kwh input :D
what application is that being used with a ODB port device i presume.. ?

I wish VW put a small diesel engine similar to duramax 3.0 and will be great
i love this route in ETS2
Very interesting video. What mobile app do you use with all the vehicle info?

AI of EV, using autonomous driving and parking surely the megatrend of global car market, which is making progress with one way of NO Return. Don't you think the traditional cars powered by ICEs can accomplish the abovesaid maneuvers like the power motors do in BEVs?
Any comment?
They can, and they do. Brands that make EVs and ICE cars put the same "self-driving" tech in both cars. It is nothing new with EVs, it is just modern cars. Same with touch screens.
You mean that traditional car of ICE and mech. transmission systems can do the same maneuvers as power/servo motor do? How can autonomous driving, automatic parking parking, and 360 degree turning, and other precision controls be accomplished without electric motor/

thanks for testing out EVs in "extreme" conditions of planet "hoth" (which is StarWars irony for "COLD") :D wow u are going pretty fast for an icy road? winter tires from CONTINENTAL?
Hoth scene in SW was actually filmed very close to where I was driving. Just some bad winter tyres, not Conti.
I‘m at full throttle, full throttle. Why? What for? When you‘re ice sliding anyway? And all that while you‘re heading into curves? Have you never learned to drive a car? Seems that the car assistance features have to cover your ass a lot. In addition complaining about range and not heating up the batteries as needed, while knowing it is needed. Instead complaining a lot, very norwegian? Not to my experience. I am sorry, but I only had a chance to meet very knowledgeable, smart and humble norwegians, yet, even in the most remote places.
Even got speed-trapped.
Trying to get my license, so I am just learning along the way! :)
This van needs to be a hybrid. As all electric, I think it is all hype that will flop in sales.
Nice open minded review👍
Thank you, I appericate the feedback!
Men ingen «camping mode» funksjon på denne ID Buzzen..? 😴
Nope

What app do you use for getting the vehicle information?
Carscanner.
Starting in 2023 though they removed the heat pumps to save money.
hyped for this!
I was a bit confused during the video because the maker doesn't know the right meaning of the word 'throttle'....
You mean my use of the word "throttling" as a word for "bottlenecking"? Or throttle as the word for accelerator. I am sorry if I mixed those up.
I always loved the design of the VW T4, T5 and T6. But the Buzz looks like a toy to me, nothing special.
And 1000 km range and 5 minutes to refuel 🤔🇬🇧
I am over 50 and love the design of the T1 und T2. So I love the ID Bus too ❤
Theres no excuse for half the car to be significantly worse than a 2012 tesla really is there. Sadly VW van lovers will buy pretty much anything.
There’s some good things as well, but some of the things are very annoying for sure!
I want to know what normal person has time in their life for all this charging jigery pokery nonsense? I get in a car, I drive, I fill up with petrol when required, that's it. No one has time for all this added stress, preplanning, finger crossing, praying and hoping nonsense!
Daily driving makes up for it, can fill at home
Rodriguez Kevin Lewis John Thomas Kenneth
Update the software....
As long as there is no reasonable range with a few minutes charging time, i will never buy an EV. For the time being Iam still happy with my Porsche 911 4S, especially on icy or slippery roads….👍👍👍
Glad you are happy with the Porsche, awesome cars!
Vw company is a huge corporate mess, buz is a big platform, lots of area to implement a 600-1000 kilometres battery pack upgrade, software disaster, funky vehicle,
Quite a nonsensical vehicle for travelling. 14:43 Charging full, then having 118km to have the battery estimated to 20% remaining?
The Buzz is more a vehicle for short-haul city transport. It is advertised as a family vehicle, but there it is crap.
It is probably one of the best family vehicles out there.
@@RoamingNorway I do a lot of car traveling withy my family, and friends, and having to stop every 120-150km for "refueling" is certainly not what I consider as family friendly.... a diesel 4x4 VW bus is, what I consider family friendly, when traveling long distance.

This psuedo-eco craziness needs to be stopped!
EVs are not ready yet. I’ll stick with gas and diesel.
I think there are some good aspect and some bad aspects. The software is bad, but they can make EVs. They get some of the stuff right, and make some fantastic EVs (Taycan).
@@RoamingNorway I do not think the Taycan is fantastic. For me it seems like a overweight and over - everything EV. They even put a gearbox inside. What a bummer!
I got one for cheap in 2021 and it works, but no updates whatsoever.
If VW produces acceptable Software, UI and App and lowers their price into Tesla and BYD regions i could consider at least a Skoda again.
90K for a IDBuzz? Sorry, i'll wait for my Cybertruck which will cost roughly the same.
Tesla makes app, German makes cars. Both need to learn. Germans vans are absolutely the best cars for driving in own class. I test drove Tesla model y, with all respect the app and the space are only two positive things about it. In terms of driving and actually enjoying the driving it is decades back from any modern German car. Tesla is powerful, but having proper steering and suspension is important as well at least for me, could not find that from Tesla 🤷♂️
The Model 3 is awesome to drive. Model Y is a little bit worse.@@pavelmullo2326
@@RoamingNorway model 3 is very small car, model y is only one which is sensible as one car in the house hold for the family , but getting into model y after current Volvo xc60t8 feels like enormously down grading, at least for me🤷♂️ quality of interior in the car so much lower than in majority of European cars and driving experience is very poor, suspension in model y was huge disappointment on Finnish winter roads. I had rental Passat on my work trip in Germany, driving-wise it beats Tesla model y by far. Germans are not strong yet in app part for ev but in being solid cars with proper driving abilities in all conditions is something Tesla needs to catch up on as well building quality of interior and seats. It is hard get used to shapeless sofa after sport seat experience of any premium European car. It is all about compromise in putting things in the important order for each individual🤷♂️

Asalamaleikum from Kosova. It is NOT ECONOMIC to drive electric car. See your cars after 300000Km.

EVs aren't about driving as much as computer skills. Why oh why can't we use a mobile phone but continually have to play with an iPad. No sense
