2013 Volvo S60 T6 R-Design Polestar AWD Test Drive & European Sports Sedan Car Video Review

And it's a shame because vehicles like the 2013 Volvo S60 R-Design as tested here are a real great alternative to the big 3 from Germany. Volvo over the decades has been known for its commitment to safety. So it should come as no surprise that the S60 has very high marks for safety from the IIHS. For 2013 the S60 has 13 different trim levels with prices that range from $31,900 to $46,800. The high performance R-Design Model tested here has a base price of $41,100.
The Volvo S60 comes in a variety of engine choices all with varying power levels. The T6 R-Design comes with a turbocharged 3.0 liter 6-cylinder engine that is equipped with a tuned chip from Polestar. Power levels jump to 325 horsepower and 254 lb-ft. of torque. The S60 has a sophisticated AWD system and 6-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy is 18 MPG in the city and 25 MPG on the highway.
The 2013 Volvo S60 T6 R-Design is one stylish looking vehicle thanks to the Rebel Blue paint scheme. Up front the grille looks good; the aluminum trim is a great addition to the LED running lights. Everything about the exterior of this car works. The 18-inch wheels are very sporty as are the brushed aluminum side mirrors. The S60 is a great alternative to a BMW or Mercedes. Other exterior parts that make this an R-Design include the rear diffuser with dual polished exhaust tips. The rear spoiler and front lip add a bit of subtle aggression.
On the inside you get R-Design leather seats, blue watch-style instruments, an aluminum inlay, aluminum sport pedals, and a perforated leather sports steering wheel. The driving dynamics match that of the exciting exterior. Comfort is at an all time high thanks to maybe the best seats in the industry.
This Volvo is built to last with its 4-year 50,000 mile warranty that includes service. The 2013 Volvo S60 R-Design is priced to be competitive with BMW, Mercedes and Audi. This Swedish built car is something unique and makes for a great choice if you are looking for a European Sports Sedan.

I had one of these built for me, have been in it for about three months and all I can say is WOW! I have driven my last two Volvo's a total of 31 years (my nephew still has the last one),did some comparison shopping this time (Caddy, Hyundai,Taurus SHO, nothing German or Japanese, I remember my history) and couldn't switch, once I test drove the 'R'. Why the hell do you even need a nav system? Find a Volvo dealer that has an 'R' to test drive, drive it, buy it. No kidding.

Nice review, could you also describe the back seats and trunk space? I know it's a sports sedan but the idea is that sometimes you will need the trunk for luggage on your trips, and drive passengers around once in a while. Thanks.

Great Vid, but one item of info that should be noted.. Volvo changed the complimentary maintenance warranty for 2013.. In 2012 it was 4yr 50k, but for 2013 its 3 year 36k..

It has best in class torque, (This trim level) that's why ppl seem to say that the volvo has a great hmph to it when laying on the gas. In contrast, the Audi S4 does not really have that pulling feeling of being sucked into the seat, but its 0-60 is way better. So its really just a preference of the car buyer.
