  • Tom Baker from ChasingCars.com.au reviews the Volvo S60 Polestar in Australia: The Polestar is the best production car the Nordic countries have made-and at $110,000, it would want to be. It doesn't quite play in the big leagues of the M3 and C63 AMG, but the Polestar is genuinely quick, punching to 100km/h in just 4.8 seconds. It also rides and handles very well-and, unlike some sports sedans, it is so comfortable that you could certainly live with it every day. Tom the back seats do fold, it is the same as our 2013 T6 R-Design, I can see the levers when you show the boot! Also the dampers are more than just dealer adjustable! You just need get your hands dirty to find the dials!

      Right, it wouldn't make sense for this Volvo's rear seats to be unable to fold down.

      Thanks for leaving this additional information here - there are a few things that are more evident in long-term ownership, like that kind of self-tuned damper adjustability. I appreciate it!

    Tom, are you sure the back seats don't fold? I have a 2013 Polestar, which I love and which is almost the same as the 2014 and the back seats fold flat as well as having the ski port.

    So Volvo made a few of these for prototype use, Volvo actually produced and sold 50 of these (much detuned) in the US. So what's next? We need a true sports sedan entrant from Volvo, something that can swing with the ATS-V, M3, RS4, etc. I've seen an actual production S60 Polestar in person - they are stunning. But the performance isn't quite there yet.
    Let's hope this is a building block to a REAL S60 with some head-busting aspirations.

    Excellent video Tom! Enjoying your channel! I'm looking for an affordable car that has excellent fuel economics and running costs, preferably a Sedan or Hatchback, as I may be moving to New Zealand. What would you recommend?

      Thanks for your feedback mate! With regard to your request, it's worth checking out a few options: the Yaris and (new) Mirage are both pretty bulletproof, but if you could stretch to it, the Ford Fiesta, particularly with the 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol, sets a benchmark for dynamics in small cars. Good luck!

      Hi Mohammed - launch control can be activated through the vehicle's safety systems control menu.

    Nice car. You should keep both hands on the steering wheel.

    You didn't by this for the boot space!

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, but given its competitors have decent luggage space, it was a factor that had to be considered.

      Hi Nino, we absolutely agree that the S60 Polestar is an awesome car - and an incredible Volvo product. However, it's not as sharp as the M3 or C63 AMG, but with every update - including the 2015 update that we are about to test in V60 Polestar form - Volvo gets closer and closer. Stay tuned!

      Didnt you guys see video where this volo beat m3 and c63 on track and also where this s60 beat c63 on drag race

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nino isus In the right conditions - like in the wet - the all-wheel-drive Polestar certainly might beat the BMW and Mercedes in a sprint, that's for sure! However, it comes down to handling finesse and cornering agility, where the Germans remain dominant; and the driving position is a little awkward in the Volvo. But we maintain it's an interesting and left-field choice among performance sedans, and we'd have one.

      What about new one with only 4 cylinders and 2 liter engine .. its gona produce 450+ hp and more than 500nm

      The one in the video you're talking about is one of the very few concept Polestars. It's cylinder head and combustion chambers are modified along with other engine parts and also a huge ass Garrett turbocharger was mounted, the body and suspension was tuned stiffer, the weight distribution was optimised and the AWD system was improved to a Haldex XWD. Bottom line, it's got 508 hp, a top speed of over 300 km/h and does 0 to 100 in only 3.9 seconds, but it didn't make it to production yet.
