Thank you for a great review. I have the 2012 S60R in black sapphire. Amazing piece of engineering. For those who don't know, Volvo and Porsche had collaborated to make their newest generation of T6 and Polestar tuned up the engine to make it R-design. It's a rocket!
I have watched many S60 R-Design reviews on TH-cam. Your review is the only one that made me feel what it was like to drive this car. Thanks. Great job.
I'm glad they finally got paddle shifters for 2014, so much better than using the little gear lever. If I had to use only that, I probably never would.
awesome REVIEW! I never understand why other car reviewers... always focus on the TRACK!!! how many people actually buy these cars and race them around a track....This volvo is awesome!
I've just finished my first 1,000 miles on my new S60 T6 R and all I can say is wow! There may be better cars on the market for about this price, but I can't imagine. The car is a rocket, and with the tuned suspension and upgraded brakes/tire combo it grabs the road like a champ. The interior is really nice, and the metallic silver paint and body finish is really nice. There aren't many of these around to test drive, but if you're thinking of getting an Audi,BMW, or Mercedes, find one and try it.
I just finished a year driving this car. Bought it new last March, it was delivered in May of '13. It is spectacular! It drives like a car that costs 30K more, and is great inside too. Mine is metallic silver with black leather. with the wheel/tire package, really sharp and it is a screamer. I've only seen two others in the year I've been driving it here in Boston. Get out of the heard, test drive it, you'll buy it!
I've got one of these coming the first week in May. I had ordered it just the way you describe, I skipped the back-up camera, navigation, auto-stop nonsense. Comes with all the bells and whistles standard. I've driven my last two Volvo's for a total of thirty years, looked at other brands, couldn't switch. It's been 15 years since my last new car, should be real culture shock to get my hands on this baby. I'll do a review after I've driven it for a month.
The 335Xdrive starts at $45k base package without any type of sport package, this makes for a soft non-sport oriented drive, add the sport package or M packages and your price sky rockets. The G37X is a good price level competitor but lacks the driving dynamics and torque that the S60 R-Design produces, also a tired design and at the end of its current production life. Last but not least, the S4 is priced at almost $50k with the S-tronic transmission, that's a lot of extra dough.
@@Sidewaysat11 Thanks brother, I already have an S60, but it's a T-5 which isn't compatible with the Polestar Upgrade... Might have to buy a T-6, upgrade it to Polestar, and put a blue vinyl wrap over it...
I have a 2013 s60 t6 r design, I smacked a 350hp sti, beat a 335i by a car or so, beat a gtr r35 0-70mph! So bro, just stop, I hate it when people start listing other cars when they haven't even driven in a s60 r design!

I stand by what I said. In the Luxury Sports car division and at this price range, the S60 R - Design come out on top.
Ik it’s late but this iteration of S60 actually used hydraulic power steering, not electric.
R is not a model its a package "R-design".
Hey I have the original S60 R....wouldn't mind this in a few years time after its done depreciating......wots the name of the cool music in the video?
When is this coming out and how much will it cost?
Awesome video for an awesome car
those aren't my choices either but interesting picks haha. I would go for a used e92 M3, Nismo 370Z, or maybe a Porsche 996
what is the song in this video! and awesome review!
No manual in NA? That's too bad, I don't know how to drive automatic ;(
Yes
43K and you think this is the best car for a sportcar driver? I don't agree, but it's interesting you say that.
Manual not available in North America ;-)
this is only car that i am going to buy
Where can you buy one of these in blue? It's like all the owners don't wanna sell them... Hmm...
They didn’t sell many in blue in this trim. You just have to keep searching. One will pop up sooner or later. Good luck!👍🏻

Try finding a 335xDrive for that money, or a G37S, or an S4.
My bad, no manual in North America?!
You are comparing two completely different cars made for two different people.
I don't see the relationship between the tiny focus and a s60..i'll take this over focus any day.. luxury or tiny rocket car? hmm..
It's not a Polestar.
Yes it is, polestar tuned the engine
No sir. Only Automatic for North America.
Just wait for 2015 focus RS and forget about rest. Audis, BMWs can't touch it.
Nothing can touch it at $43K....except the 335i, S4, STI...need I go on?
Why even start?
all garbage cars

S4 is a lot more expensive, and STI is not as nice on the inside.
