This series has become a yearly viewing tradition for me. I’m starting my third viewing and I still find the adventure stunning and moving. Thanks for the journey!
Wonderful lads! Brings back fond memories of my trips back in the late 70’s early 80’s in the same area. Started from Temagami , went out through Gowgama to the Groundhog River. Hopped over to the Missinabi River and ended at Moose River crossing. Rode the same train back to Cochrane! Bravo lads keep up the excellent work!
Ah, totally forgot this was debuting tonight and I was so stoked to get the notification. So funny to have hockey playoffs in August so it was cool to capture that. We were in Quetico so I thankfully missed the buds' annual failure. I know what Eric means about the big sky up there...maybe it's just because it's flatter so the horizon is lower but whatever it is, it's distinct. Awesome start and can't wait for the rest!
Hahah yeah man I had to include the leafs on route to the backcountry. Getting score updates via sat phone. And yeah the lower horizons is the key to those big skies. A special place up there. Thanks for watching man!
So glad you are releasing this in mid Feb so we can all start dreaming of paddling again. What will the Northern boys have in store for us? Certain to be an epic adventure and can't wait for more.
It's crazy that Esquif used your footage of wrapping one of the Canyons on your Labrador crossing to promote their boats. Hope you boys are seeing some kickbacks... I think a sponsorship and few free canoes are in order!
@@dustymatthews8510 I honestly just bought an Esquif Prospecteur Sport and it was that footage that helped make my mind up. Now I'm looking into get something from Esquif that I can solo a little easier. The Boys are selling boat for Esquif!
Watching from Australia. Your canoeing adventure is amazing and so enjoyable to watch. Beautiful scenery and waterways of Canada 🍁. I will be watching more of your posts. Thank you
Great explanation and illustrations of thought process and procedure when presented with swift water . Thank you very much , such cool adventure- appreciate the work put into this video!
@@NorthernScavengertwo thumbs up man! Been following your route (and getting a sneak peak of what's to come). Its damn fun getting a sense of how certain landforms look on google earth imagery. Had to look up the higher res sat images on the crownland atlas to get a sense of what's really to come....I suspect more than a few portages hahaha. You get any pics of that landslide and gravel bar ~30km upriver from the mouth at James bay?
just finished watching your Episode 1 and loved it, especially the comments how to navigate the canoe over the rapids. can't wait for the next episode. it would be great if you could give an overview of the equipment and food and planing for this trip as a last episode.
Hey Alex, Eric, I just really appreciate your trip, enjoyed your Labrador, so when I saw James bay I had to watch ...... I'm no Canoeist, I'm more the fishing passionate, so your on the road fly building was impressive.. I just love this part of our country, my spot is Mistassini and Albanel lake region still part of the Cree nation..... can't wait to see the following episode maybe some fishing action.... your beach site reminded me of one of my first beach site on Albanel lake with a small laker with just salt and pepper..... Please keep exploring you make me feel younger ..... Keep safe and keep those incredible images ...... From a Quebec fan....
Wow! I can't wait to watch the whole thing. I've been up to moosonee, moose factory, and I toured the james bay area by helicopter. Even took the polar Express train through the boreal forest....by far the best experience of my life. I couldn't imagine camping that area!!!!😍
I had a Similar canoe trip paddling white water down the drag river into the burnt river Ontario. It was gripping just to watch you guys do that. Because we had to tackle swifts just like that ALL day!
Hey Alex, nice weather so far and what a great beach spot to camp. Really looking forward to the next episode! Hope you don't make us all wait very long, lol : )
Loving this. Slowly going through your back catalogue too. Can't wait until we're allowed out in the UK so I can go out in my canoe for the second time ever!!
Your bro Eric seems like a genuinely chill person. Great video, and can't wait to see the rest of the series :) Edit: And Eric can play the blues? Nice.
I'm originally from Iroquois Falls and so I wondered where is this river! That was until I realized you start from the Detour Lake mine road. As always an excellent video.
Wow looks like a great start to a fantastic trip the scenery is so unreal, long distance s with skinny trees. But what about mosses, you don't seem to be bothered much.
Our group of 3 adults and 3 young teens did this river in 2008. We camped at the same beach. We counted over 80 rapids from the beginning to end of this fabulous river that can really only be enjoyed at the proper water levels
That's awesome! Hopefully this brings back some memories for you. The water levels were part of the issue but we had to play it safe with the canoe we were using as well. Just the circumstances we were dealing with. Thanks for watching!
I'm a veteran of at least two dozen BWCA trips in Northeastern MN. This video is therapy for me. I didn't notice...did you tie in your packs...do you have a stove along? Spare paddle? I'm so very grateful to have discovered your adventure.
That’s a pretty amazing loop boys! My wife and I have similar plans, just have not been able to make it happen yet! Excited to follow along! Thanks for posting!
Great video guys, seeing that red squirrel swim across the river in front of you reminded us of a time we helped one cross a whole lake. We didn't even know red squirrels could swim! Had you seen that before?
This series has become a yearly viewing tradition for me. I’m starting my third viewing and I still find the adventure stunning and moving. Thanks for the journey!
I like how Alex calmly teaches Eric on how to navigate through the rapids. Great teamwork!
I travel over that bridge every time I go to work now I can see where the river goes thks
That's awesome! Thanks for watching Ian
I came for the scenery, and I learned a boat load (get it?) of canoeing lessons! Great video, can't wait for more!
Epic! My only worry is how long between episodes you're gonna make us wait!
We stan!
Tune in every Wednesday at 6PM EST
Fuck that we stan shit

Canada, such a beautiful country!!
Beautiful river, I liked that beach site.
I thought the same thing about the North French in your videos. Thanks for watching man and hope all is well!
