I want to give a big shout-out to all the volunteers who have kept this cabin (and other NS cabins) alive with all their hard work and dedication over the years. If it wasn't for them, these places would have rotted into the ground years ago. Thank you!!! 🙏

Do you think a reasonably healthy and fit 58 yr old male with virtually the same gear as you be able to successfully embark and succeed at this venture?

When you go to these cabins do you have any idea if someone is arriving at the same time or do you “reserve” it? How does that work?

@@nathanbailey1593 As stated from the Cofan cabin website "Due to the Tobeatic’s true wilderness nature and relatively low use, there is no requirement to book the cabin. If it’s empty, you’re in luck; if it’s occupied, you may still be in luck as travelers through the Tobeatic are often more than willing to share." I know that in the past episodes of some of the cabins that Noah has gone too, he has had to book and reserve them well in advance of his trips.

Me too. I can only go where my walker can take me & for short distances. We are blessed to go with him vicariously! My dad was such an outdoorsman, and I loved that way of life. Every time I see a river or lake I want to wet a line. I miss fresh rainbow trout for breakfast. 😋

I guess because I'm in Halifax, Nova Scotia, TH-cam sends me video's from my area, but it's nice to see ones like this, the last few I got from TH-cam is people turning on their dashcams, driving from Halifax to Yarmouth nonstop with no talking ... like watching grass grow.

I could never make such a long trip. For one reason at 73 years of age, I'm not up to it anymore. However, even if I were, I would be stopping at every promising piece of water to fish, probably not going more than half a mile a day - lol. Loved your video, especially seeing the black bear and the black capped chickadee's at the cabin.

Just a simple suggestion for you. When you're trying to split wood and it won't stay up right. Take a stick in your off hand and use that to hold the wood upright and stable. This will allow you to hit the wood with your axe hard enough to set the axe, but not endanger yourself. Commonly referred to as a "Sissy Stick", but I like to think of it as a "Safety Stick". Great video so far. Now if you will excuse me, I have to get back to it so I can finish watching.

Also, there may have been a reason but splitting on a rock isn’t great because if you miss or just go through the wood you hit the rock and dull the blade. Much better to just do on the ground no?

Your shelter was cool indeed. It was "portageurs's style". Two things here. When splitting the small logs (at the start of the video), use a small stick to hold the log. It makes things easier and safer. And the small cowbell..get rid of that. It was proven that those bells attarcts young bears. And who's following? Big Mama bear... (there's a video from NOLS talking about that). Other than that, it was a very nice video and you made me smile. Well done. I'm subscribing right now.
P.S. The "animal" was a sleeping Sasquash.

When I'm out in the wild, I always try and find a big rock to chop wood on as well.

Noah! I've recently just discovered your channel in the last few weeks and I am thoroughly enjoying seeing the East coast through your eyes, and your lens. I have an obsession with the East Coast thanks to the many stories I've read by former Cape Breton Island resident, the late Farley Mowat... Although, I've never had a chance to visit the East coast yet! Your adventures out that way sure are inspiring for me. Thank you for gracing all of us in the TH-cam world with your presence, your adventures, and the beautiful content your making... I can't even imagine the work that goes into all of it!

Awesome adventure. I'm truly impressed at the state of most all the cabins. Especially with the weather NS gets over the years.

Thank you so much for taking us along. Your filming is spectacular. A lot of hard work and so many shots where you had to set up in difficult circumstances. You made the firewood look easy! I know nothing was easy. Thank you also for not needing to talk all the time. You are personable, enjoyable to listen to and you have a lot of knowledge. I appreciate you sharing.

What a cool adventure. I love this sort of content, as it is far from the realms of what I have at my disposal here in the UK. Amazing to be able to see what the world has to offer ad inspire future trips for myself and others

I thought the cabin looked familiar. I think you were there with a few of the guys. That too was a great video. Thanks for the distraction Noah, going to be a long winter. Looking forward to getting back out in the spring!

That trip is worth it. Re: Mason's Cabin. The one and only time we stayed there it was disgusting. The previous party used it as a human barn apparently. Way better off in a crude lean to. I'd like to spend a night in one of the sky dome cabins at Kedge but sadly that won't likely happen any time soon.
Thanks for posting. It reminds me of my dearly departed family member, a professional guide for life. Rest in peace.
