A Hard-Fought Adventure From My Backyard To The Ocean

  • I attempt to solo paddle from my backyard to the ocean. This is a connection I've wanted to do for years but the tiny creek behind my house intimidated me or never had enough water. Finally the conditions and my nerves line up! Disclaimer - Solo whitewater is DANGEROUS and not recommended.

Adventure is to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before. Sounds vaguely familiar and what Noah does! 🤓

Wow - Loved it man! V few channels get me watching from start to finish, without skipping - you're one of them. Was a 100% authentic adventure, with probably more danger than you bargained for! The last bit being drenched was intense man! Well done for your mental fortitude. With much admiration, Eze.

Epic adventure. Backyard to the ocean. My buddies used to wait until the heavy rains came and the creeks overflowed in the 1980's and they'd pump up their cheap 3 man rafts and run the rapids all the way across town, about 10 miles, then have a friend pick them up, and do it again. It's a miracle they never died in those creeks at flood stage, but it made them all really good white water rafters for when they could buy professional rafts and equipment. Maniacs.

We have a river in our “back yard” which is very navigable in spring (albeit with farm crossings , old dams and the occasional log jam). It eventually flows into the Nation River and thence into the Ottawa, which flows into the St. Lawrence ending up in the Gulf of St Lawrence. A noodge further and we’d reach the Atlantic. A bit of a paddle.

Brilliant as usual. Adventure, especially in the touring off-road motorbike scene, is a much overused word. Adventure, for me, is when you're out of your comfort zone, and have challenges to overcome, without just getting your wallet out and paying for someone to help. Otherwise, it's just a holiday.

Hey Noah, loved the video! I really appreciate the theme of this trip. I am also from Halifax and made a similar trip this spring down the MacIntosh run in Spryfield. I made a video documenting the trip for my first hand at doing some canoe trip filming. It is nothing special, and I mainly made the video to share with friends and family. Since then a friend and I repeated a route you also did down the Nine Mile River. I also did some filming on this trip but I am not finished editing. Where as you guys had the right amount of water on your run, we did it in miserable water levels where we lined 75percent of the way. C'est la via. Thanks so much for sharing and keep up the great videos.
