    SYNOPSIS
A 30 day, 620 km canoe journey through the expansive wilderness of Côte-Nord, Quebec. The route is designed to traverse the headwaters of the Romaine River, a river seeing significant change as part of Quebec’s major energy project Plan Nord, followed by the descent of the little-known Aguanish River. The goal of the route is to gain a first-hand perspective of the land of wild rivers as we paddle and portage our way across the Labrador-Quebec plateau to the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
This trip was supported by the Royal Canadian Geographical Society and Mountain Equipment Co-op.

King of the world! Great to see Matt along for a big trip. Loved every second and can't wait for more. Are you editing now and then Alex editing once he joins? Always curious how you split that up, since editing is kind of the reward for all the filming work.

Many years ago (1980's) I was with a small group paddling some of the same water. We did about 180 miles and believe it or not we never saw a bug! It was August and for some unknown reason there were no bugs and almost no rain.

Isn't that the same put in location that you used on your first Labrador expedition? I know the route is completely different, but the train ride and put-in reminds me of the one you used before. Can't wait for the next episode, and i want to tell you that y'all make these videos a little more interesting than most of the other people documenting similar trips. I also can't wait for the smiling faces when your special delivery comes in from Ontario. 😀

Pretty spectacular so far. The sound of the mosquitos and the blood from blackfly bites remind me of many a trip in northern Canada. Nice rapids so far and the weather is too nice. You need a little wind to sort out the bugs. I am sure things will change going forward.

Great start off to the video. 2 things .....1: Should always send the Dragonfly Union a heads up of your trek to help with the bugs. 2: If you need to drop one and lots of bugs around especially mornings, do what you can to protect your swing-set. Helps alleviate pain down the road hehe. Looking forward to the next episode.

Love your superb trips! Stay safe.
    HELPFUL HINT (I hope) -
I'm wondering if you guys have heard about the famous (or INfamous) bicycle wheel portage equipment? It works like this:
You acquire a couple of old bicycle wheels for each canoe and a sturdy (aluminum?) rod as an axle... you attach the wheels to the axle (use any old 'quick release' bushing) and a fitting or clamp device to attach the axle to the bottom of the canoe... when you are going through the Bush on a Portage, snap the axle/wheel on to the bottom of each canoe and wheel it where you need to go... the wheels will go over almost anyting. Detach wheels and axle when you reach water... I've seen this done in Ontario lakeland... saves one heck of a lot of grunt work dragging a canoe.. you can figure the finer details...an added weight of only maybe 25 lbs per canoe...
    Just a thought...
