Can EAL break 90 at The Genesis Invitational?

  • Erik Anders Lang and his battle to break 90 continues at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles. What started at Pebble Beach has taken EAL to The Renaissance Club in Scotland and Nine Bridges in South Korea. Now, ahead of the Genesis Invitational, Erik will again be put to the test at Riviera playing under PGA tournament conditions from the tips at 7,300 yards par 71. The task of posting a score under 90 is not an easy one. Erik must channel the mental fortitude of golf pros like Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson, and Tiger Woods if he wants to succeed.
*Thank you to the Tiger Woods Foundation who provided 100 free tickets to the Genesis Invitational to participants at our Random Golf Club event at Penmar Golf Course; video coming soon!

Big money, or else you have to know somebody or blow somebody. LACC, bel air, Riviera, one day i would love2 play well at all 3 George c Thomas, jr masterpieces. But the fact is, I will probably never set eyes on any of them, irl. Just (riviera) on tv, I guess. Golf is still elitist and exclusionary but dreams do exist.

Personally, I think they make a great statement on perseverance in the face of tremendous difficulty. The thing about perseverance is that it makes it that much sweeter when you finally achieve that goal. I know you will. Keep being awesome.

Erik. I think you have the skills to achieve your goal. The course didn't beat you,....you beat yourself. "Competitive golf is played mainly on a five-and-a-half inch course, the space between your ears"
    Bobby Jones
Remember, the golf ball your hitting doesn't know what hole or course your on. Just use your skills that brought you to a 4,1 Handicap and you'll be just fine.
P.S. lighten the "F" up when your out there.....I'm certain your best rounds have been when your loose & relaxed with your buds. Add your scorecard @ the end and you'll shoot better/= have fun. Keep swinging kid.

I think these videos are brilliant if nothing more to show that you, as one of the most chill and fun golfers to watch, change so dramatically when you're fighting for a score. It serves as such a lesson to everyone playing casual golf that the most important thing is not just having fun, but ensuring that you're not ruining the experience of others by getting super down on yourself because of bad play.

Thank you Erik for taking us along with you on your journey. I fully agree with you about how "incorrectly" we view golf here in the US. I was a 4 handicap in my late 20s and ultimately gave up the game for 15 years because I lost my love and enjoyment as I focused on getting down to a 2+ to try to qualify for the US Open. I forgot how much fun I had playing with my mates and my family. Keep up the great work and know that I am right there with you on your journey. All the best!!

Never played a course setup this tuff, wondering how hard it would be.
As the MJ said its about sort game.
I can imagine on that course you need to get close and chip close and putt well with those fast greens.
I would have possibly gone conservative on the drives to just be in good approaches with the wedges avoiding any danger even if that reduced any birds.
Would be interesting to see a ultra conservative game plan in action as against you power game.

Love watching these vids. I played Le Golf National 3 weeks before the French open last year. Played one of the best rounds I’ve ever played and shot 85 (11 hcp). Granted we had to play off the white tee’s, we weren’t allowed to play from the black 🤷‍♂️
