In this video we'll be taking a look at some of the questions I received after releasing my original Ashura the Hedgehog video. I'll be trying to figure out what Ashura's Super form looks like, seeing if Ashura can enter the Special Stage, seeing if Tails or Knuckles can pull off the glitch, seeing if Ashura exists in other versions of the game and I'll also be sharing some cool information I've since been told about Ashura's origins.

Hyper ashura
On last thing, sure the true colors aren't in game, but the true colors are inverted colors of his colorpallete, I tried it with sonic and his furr color was yellow gold color, meaning that ashura true colors are red with a white fur on his forehead

8:55 For anyone curious, the 2 red kanji almost say "Demon" (akuma/悪魔), presumably written at the behest of Charles Murg (Mug?), thinking that it means "ashura" when it does not. Also, the artist mistakenly drew the 2nd kanji with the wrong radical at the very bottom; the kanji should actually be 魔. Lastly, the rest of it off to the left makes an attempt at writing June 25th, 1997, but it uses European day/month/year ordering instead of Japanese year/month/day ordering, and instead of saying "1997," it's written like "one nine nine seven" verbatim, which is very unusual. In short it's riddled with all sorts of google translate-esque typos, years before google existed.
So, yeah, par for the course for weeaboo fanart, I suppose. Some things never change, eh?

You should check out the latest IDW Sonic character, Surge the Tenrec, who seems to be heavily inspired by Ashura. She looks to be a clone of Sonic based on what has been setup in the comics and her species reflects this with her being a Tenrec, an animal from Madagascar that resembles hedgehogs. Her color scheme also seems to resemble Ashura too.
Thanks, I saw the news about Surge on Tenrec. Cool to see Ashura is now influencing the IDW comics.

And the other new IDW character Kitsunami the Fennec is based on the Blue Knuckles glitch. This makes them plus Dr. Starline a sort of Team Glitch in a way
apparently Starline is inspired by Wechnia too

Agreed, although (Hopefully) with the correct color for skin and eyes.
it makes sense that Super Sonic would revert most of Ahura's palette. It's constantly cycling to give a slight glowing effect, and so I really wasn't expecting anything special to come of it, maybe, but probably nothing crazy. Also Ashura becoming Sonic again also makes sense. The transformation effect is also directly updating Sonic's palette, which would negate the any parts of corrupted color palette that are being directly updated, that is to say, almost all of them, except black which isn't supposed to ever change.
Hidden Palace Ashura looks a bit like Metal Sonic 3.0. It's probably too obscure to be an intentional reference, but you never know.
The prototype HPZ underwater Ashura palette seems like it could be a proper super form for Ashura. It has the yellow color required to be considered a super variant, and it also has the unique glitched feel of Ashura too!

i like purple super ashura. different super form colors in general are really cool to me and im genuinely upset theyve all just become gold. shadow being platinum white and knuckles being pink were dope as hell

Knowing that Scourge is derived from Ashura, and his purple super form in the comics is a direct invert of that shade of green, it makes sense to me for the OG Ashura to also 'invert' the color into a bright, flourescent pink. Knowing that pink and black checkerboard is also the color scheme for a lot of 'missing texture' placeholders helps add to that idea.
Personally, based on how the colors of Sonic’s super form work and him having his fur change to a complementary/contrasting color (from blue to yellow), I personally see Ashura going a purple-ish pink or magenta color, along with the black fur becoming white.
Purple does make sense. Blue is to green as yellow is to purple. Don't know about the black turning into white, since the white on Sonic's regular sprite stays the same color when he goes super.
In conclusion, I think Super Ashura should be black and purple.
You show Shadow's SA2 transformation to show that most hedgehogs become golden, which is strange since that's the only instance of that NOT happening. In SA2, Shadow's super form is cream to contrast his previous black in the same way that Sonic's blue becomes yellow.

it should be a rainbow form. since they're so many fan games had him in different colors. A rainbow form with a even glitchier form.

Ashura to me seems like he's an evil water demon within Sonic who was unleashed every time Sonic interacts or is in the water and Sonic then got a panic attack after a certain time period and amount of water-based exposure which summoned Ashura. Its kinda like Sonic Unleashed with the day and night cycle transformations with normal and Werehog Sonic, but it predated it by years hehehe. ;) Now, what's the Japanese for water...? Because it could be a potential nice name for Ashura's Super Form, and that would further indicate Sonic's really heightened fear of water.

I am partial to Purple Ashura, but Black Ashura does make sense. It's like his black patch of fur completely takes over.

This makes me feel so old. Bradey and I used to roleplay Sonic stuff as teenagers in the Sonic community of the 90's, and I remember Ashura very well. He took on a Protoman/Blues role to Sonic, and would battle him to make him strong enough to face Dr. Robotnik.

Yeah great point. Just as Scourge was inspired by Ashura, I think a lot of modders were inspired by Super Scourge when adding Super Ashura mods.

Super Ashura having a golden glow would be most consistent, but I've always preferred his Super form being purple.
don't know why but my super ashura in sonic 2 had a corrupted pallete. it resembled hyper sonic as he flashed different colors every frame.

My opinion on super ashura’s colors? It’s the colors for Ashura in hidden palace zone of the prototype. Works and fits his severely corrupted look

You forgot about Sonic 3D in 2D super form,which turning of black to yellow and of yellow to black (stripes changes color from green to red)

You know, now that i look at it, Ashura's name was an inspiration of Akuma from Street Fighter, who's the evil version of Ryu, so like, there is a possibility that Shadow might have been based of Ashura, i mean, if you look at his concept art he is Purple with some black accents

I think the best coloration is the pinkish one, as it resembles Super Sayain Rose, being perfect to match up against the Super Sayain-like transformation Sonic gets.
My headcannon for a “super Ashura” is:
-Purple Replacing the lime green
-Black ink at the end of the spikes
-Red gloves
-Black socks and belt
-White shoes
-White iris (the colored part of your eye)
-black sclera (the white part of your eye)
-And a glow around the whole thing
My idea for a “hyper Ashura” is pretty much the same thing, the difference being grey replacing the purple

Simply based on the basic six colour wheel, Ashura should be a magenta / purple colour as Sonic goes from blue to yellow / gold.
This kinda also works for Shadow as his black fur goes to a paler golden-silvery colour (almost white).
He's green, so wouldn't it be red cuz red is the complimentary color to green?
Although I respect that the remasters removed the glitch, I think they should’ve included some sort of code that restores Ashura. heck imagine if you could play as him in all stages now, as it would be an intentional inclusion rather than a glitch

Ashura has a super form in sonic 3 (no not sonic 3 and knuckles, but actually sonic 3)
It only appears for a brief moment for only one frame once you become super sonic

Just A Question. In other Versions of sonic games, Can You do the glitch with Tails and Knuckles? There will be atleast one that has the full debug mode on one of them... Right?
I think a couple colors on his palette would swap, like the blue and the green or the green and the black.
The ashura glitch would be for the recolor for scourge since previously scourge was more than an evil sonic (of a reality where everything good is bad and everything bad is good)

if the glitch is due to the water falls taking up all the blue pixels, perhaps you can achieve something similar with super sonic using items that are the same yellow as super sonic?
