I got a Serola hip belt and after a couple of years of constant pain and the occasional week of not being able to move, it's completely healed!!!!! It took three weeks of wearing it 24/7. Now I wear it when I'm doing any heavy work and my strengthening exercises. I was doing strengthening exercises and stretches but they weren't working until I had the belt. Now I can see the benefits of the strengthening because the belt reduced the swelling and my SI joint was able to heal. I can exercise everyday for 30 minutes, walk as much as I want, sit, stand, drive, whatever and NO PAIN. I'm in love with this belt.

@NatsGhost thank you for that information! I've just figured out that my low back and hip feel better if I tie them together with a yoga strap. I wouldn't have thought to sleep in a belt or use it when trying to strengthen the surrounding muscles!

Looking over vids I watched in the past. Now 5 years of SI joint nightmare and I’ve tried everything. I literally mean everything! 2024 Clamshell exercises with a ban on my ankle made a breakthrough for me though. Doing so other stabilizing exercises also.
FYI…. Never Stop moving. You’ll only become stiff and weak. Believe it or not other problems will develop also from not moving especially as you agree with this problem.
I hope that this helps someone. ❤

BTW- There are no exercises for SI stability in this video. The main recommendation is to call for a PT or chiropractic appointment with someone who can do a Grade 5 Lumbopelvic mobilization or subscribe to his newsletter for tips. Somewhat of a bait and switch title, so I wanted to save you from having to endure the buzzing sound.

I think is excellent advice for a PT student. The main key is to not stretch, instead strengthen.
Why? Glute mid, min, maximus, piriformis need to be strengthen to hold the pelvis in its place.
Get an adjustment to the SI.
Massage therapist in Canada can only do joint mobilization up to grade 4. Grade 5 is granted to chiropractors.

SI and butt pain sure is stubborn, but I think you are very right that stretching does NOT help, and strengthening really is the solution. I've had left SI/butt pain for a year & recently realized that my diligent exercise routine is way too stretch-oriented with not enough strength. For the past 2 days, I've stopped the specific stretching & have been doing strength exerc.: clamshell, bridge, side leg lifts, front leg lifts, lying-prone leg lifts--and now I'm actually starting to feel better! I also like climbing stairs and I always take a 30-min afternoon walk. I have also worn an SI belt, which can really help; but it also after time can get irritating. I do think now that a rigorous strength routine will be the key. Many THANKS!

@@hennycfc9907 Turns out in fact I have a torn small internal hip ligament, but an A-OK hip joint. I may not have SIJ issue at all, since nothing presents on MRI. I may have a tight or strained sacrotuberous ligament: check that out; there are gentle massages for that. Nevertheless, it's still true that I find stretching to be Perilous and likely to make me worse, and strengthening exercises to be best. But each person is different, For Sure, so you have to experiment and find out which exercises hurt (= Stop doing them!!!) and which help (keep doing them gently). Long walks and stairs are still really helpful for me. All the best to you!!

I am a chiropractor in El Paso, Texas. (Del Norte Chiropractic). You can tell you enjoy your work. I just wanted to let you know I add a little slower contraction and slower retraction (about 3-4 seconds of adduction and abduction) of the band portion of this exercise and it has shown recordable muscle balance and strength as well as relief of the symptomatology. We have also incorporated the thigh master for the adduction and the bands for the abduction. I would have to agree and say without a doubt that working with the body mechanics are a must. many patient can have the miracle treatment but if they are not on board with changing their body mechanics it will not work. I was diagnosed with scoliosis 3 years ago and then recently had an MRI, I was having horrible lower back pain, and was told it was arthritis in my lower back causing inflammation and pain. After seeing this and the symptoms and the location of the pain and doing the sacral resets to actually FEEL relief for once I believe I was miss diagnosed for the arthritis. My pelvis has not been right for 47 years since I birthed large babies.
I have had progress over the years if I kept my weight down, and did yoga several times a week.
Now that I am in my late 60s, I am struggling to walk without low back and hip pain and sciatica.
I had an MRI last week and my GP did tell me to stop the stretching to see if I was aggravating the joints.
So now hopefully back to the pelvic PT specialist that I went to last year ...she helped me a lot!

That's a very nice explanation!! I have had 3 operations, one stabilizing the pelvic ring and 2x stabilisation of the si joints. I then had more than 10 years of pain in that area and my only option was a wheelchair and laying all day. I could stay active for a long period after that. Ofcause I had help from fysio etc. But now I am 57 and the pain and trouble is getting worse and worse. I am now a junkie using lots of oxy. I write all this to warn everyone who looks your video!!!!! People, listen to this man!!!! Do these exercises, watch and train habits. Don't become an oxycodon addict.

I’m so sorry Christy. I have not done this surgery but read about it last night. As bad as I’m in pain and have trouble with mobility this past year, I don’t think I would ever do surgery as I’ve had other surgeries and they never fix the problem. That being said, I have made it my mission to never do any other surgery if I can possibly avoid it as there is nearly always an alternative solution I have come to learn. I would have had my appendix and gallbladder out decades ago if I would have let them. I am just fine after doing gut healing. I hope you never find yourself under the knife again. Hope you find relief from your pain. 💕

I just had and SI joint injection and it confirmed my SI Joint diagnosis. I had numbness in my leg the first day post procedure and by the third day, my vice gripping pain around the right groin, hip, and lateral thigh was gone. By the fifth day, I got up in the morning pain free for the first time in three months! I gained weight due to immobility and oral steroids. My anesthesiologist told me I am not 200% and have a lot more work to lose the weight to lessen the stress on my spine and SI joints, and restart and continue my physical therapy. Suffering through the agonizing pain and immobility for the last three months is something I do not want to repeat as much as possible. I am already on day 3 of my physical therapy exercise and I am now starting back on my peloton bike doing ROMs with very little resistance at all. I am determined to do everything to keep that pain under control. That pain devastated my personal and professional life and my doctor warned me that I might need 2-4 more injections. If I can continue to strengthen the muscles and ligaments around d the SI joints, I know I am doing the best so can to optimize my pre tentative treatment. Thank you for the explanation. I would not ever wish this excruciating debilitating pain on anyone even my enemies!

I can't tell you how much this video has helped me. I've been suffering with pain for 11 years. After doing some research based on my symptoms, I've realized sacroiliac joint dysfunction is most likely the cause. I also have disc herniations, which may play a role, but I don't think is the main cause of my pain. Unfortunately I live in NY and won't be able to visit your office. I will however be making an appointment to see if I can get a joint injection/block to help diagnose this issue (is this something you would recommend as I've learned this is tricky to diagnose) Just want to say thank you for this video and doing this for people. :)

Hi, really appreciative for your videos at this time. I am hypermobile and flexible and of larger, but historically fit build for a 5'9 woman. I realize now that many of the things i've been doing for last 2 yrs of suffering excruciating lower right back pain has been providing me temp relief but doing worse harm. Namely, as the pain got worse,
    a) I changed away from typical strengthening type exercise to more passive stretching exercise and, out of necessity due to hip pain on that side, stopped my mainstay trailrunning which probably did a great deal for my core stability; and
    b) I found one position that allowed me to sleep at night which was to lay on my stomach and pull my right knee up to my shoulder.
To this day when i need immediate relief i splay that hip out when sitting, laying on my back , or laying on my stomach. I thought my lower back pain of last two years was sufficiently life altering and diminishing, but i didn't even know for pain. As of the last 2 months, my back pain is now accompanied by shooting pain down my right leg and a charliehorsed buttock and thigh which lasts for the first 1/4 and last 1/4 of my day and any time i sit or lay or stand for too long. Rolling over, or trying to get out of bed without inducing an electric shock is a mental minegame. Getting up from a chair or couch and taking first steps, and sadly even brushing my teeth or feeding my cat are some of the more painful and crushing to the spirit of a 46yo who 3 yrs ago was regularly running 10k.
I have not yet seen relief, but i'm doing your exercises every morning and am going to start doing them throughout the day as well. Just hearing you acknowledge and describe so precisely the pain i'm feeling gives me some hope that i'm finally on the right path here with stability and strengthening and keeping moving.

Had an injury on one side from a fall. Slipped on wet steps and skidded down them in the seated position on the left side. So my left side, SI and all the muscles, glutes, pain shooting doen leg, etc....always hurts. Though my chiropractor says it's almost always my right side that goes out and sometimes my L5. Injury happened in 2003 and I'm about to start PT for the third time. I'm not too hopeful. In the past I've had a lot of pain and discouragement. Strengthening the muscles just irritate my sciatic nerve more and create more pain. The muscles in the glute and lower back spasm and get in knots. So I absolutely have to stretch or there are going to be issues. Half the time my PTs don't make the time to massage all the muscles or treat the knots that occur. In my opinion, that is the trouble! I also think my psoas is involved and that being a difficult one to treat but hasn't been considered in past treatment. I need a permanent treatment. At this point I'd rather have surgery to fix rather than have to have my back pop back out after being put in by the chiropractor within 24 hours. It's worth surgery. Instead my doc talks about referring me to a pain clinic?????? I can't deal with temporary fixes and bandaids anymore. My muscles don't hold things in place.

The pain in si joint, groin, thigh and outside of knee is on left side but when I try and reset by lying down and pointing toe and squeezing buttock, it is the right side that clicks. Also my psoas feel so painful. I have to keep stretching it out. Also...to add to this message.... my piriformis is super tight and I only get relief doing pigeon pose stretches. I have degenerative scoliosis. I was also recently diagnosed with si. My doctor recommended that I follow your utube exercise program for one week to confirm her suspected diagnosis. Meaning, if at the end of the week my condition has improved then continue pt. Otherwise, she is concerned that I may have a ruptured disk. My question is how many times per day can I do the three exercises? I don't want to over do it and possibly cause more issues. In addition, I received a new hip a year ago. Thank you!!!

I took a fall landing on my right posterior SI joint area 3 years ago. It's been getting horribly worse not interfering with my hip shifting from one side to the other with pain in the femurs. I have had discomfort in the pubic symphysis along with trying to keep my back straight when walking. There has been so many other related pain issues since this pelvic shift it's been unbearable. The latest that came up is with my right knee. My femur seems to be offline due to the pelvic shift. My life has been hell. All of my hobbies such as diving, skiing, camping has has come to a sudden halt. I have lived with severe aching pain since the fall. I went to a therapist and the exercises were obviously the wrong ones for SI Joint pain. The night after those exercises were unbearable. Was told they believe it happened when I was about to give birth and couldn't, had to have C -sections. My womb was not opening, like it was welded. But they indicated I had the reactin problem. They say now there is to much arthritis to do surgery. I have resorted to getting SI injections in the past but no longer receive those. I am at my wits end. My whole life has been affected because if this and I am so frustrated NO doctor told me about this until it was to late and had to go through so many doctors and exrays. I live in Canada. Hi, I've been suffering SI joint pain for 3 years now but nobody seems to be able to diagnose it properly. I am currently seeing a womens' health physio who refuses to believe that the ligaments could be damaged - she says ligaments are too strong! As such she's been manipulating my hips and getting me to do hip strengthening exercises to help my sticky left hip. I am at my wits end with pain and frustration so I will be looking for a private (not NHS, who I am currently under) physio to see if they can give me any help. How do I tell my current physio that she's not looking at the real problem?? I wish our NHS physios had more of this kind of knowledge and would open their minds to the possibility that the patient may actually know where the pain is coming from. I also asked her if the ultimate damage could have been caused by negative G force. I was taking a gliding lesson when I lost speed so the instructor took over and threw us into a nosedive that I wasn't expecting. It was that night that I stood up from the sofa and was locked. The nightmare had begun! Sorry, I've rattled on here but nobody really seems to understand. It has also caused fibromyalgia which just adds to the problems!

A person standing with chalk, cigarette, drink or whatever in their right hand puts more weight on their right leg and even slightly leans to the right as they stand there with whatever in their right hand. • @DanScottChannel
      @DanScottChannel 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

The real culprit behind arthritis is inflammation and the root cause of inflammation is largely a diet high in carbohydrates. The first primary step to take in reducing inflammation in a big way is to go a low carbohydrate "ketogenic" diet. High carb consumption are the root cause of most autoimmune and degenerative diseases including heart disease and diabetes.
Carbs cause inflammation at the cellular level and when foods containing carbs and fats are heated, this is called "glycation" which leads to oxidation, which leads to inflammation. Also, if one is consuming high amounts of omega 6 fatty acids found in "vegetable" oils and many nuts and seeds, this is also causing a lot of inflammation.
Another big deal is vitamin K2. Without proper amounts, we cannot metabolize calcium. This is why so many have osteoarthritis, kidney stones, cataracts, calcium in the heart, and calculus (tarar) build up in the teeth. When I began to take a Full Spectrum K2, the tarter stopped and a band keratopathy in my right eye began to improve!
I had suffered with terrible arthritis and degenerative disease in my spine and hips until I went of a very low carb diet while implementing more omega 3 fatty oils found in salmon and cod liver/krill oils. Make sure you get the proper amounts of the fat soluble vitamins A, E D and K.

What do U suggest for Si joint erosion? I have some erosion on my left hip.
I also had an accident on a city bus a few years ago. I was thrown hard on to the bus floor on my left hip.
So I now have serious hip pain & almost bone on bone. I may have to have hip surgery.
A few years ago I also fractured my L4 in my back.
It was after my bus accident, but when I was thrown to the floor of the bus.
What is a good idea to do for my Si joint pelvic erosion & horrific pain?
I have been told I have AS by Ruhemotolgist, but another 1 said she wasn't sure it was As. She thinks it just might b degenerative osteoarthritis.
How can I know if the bus accident started all this damage?
What can I do to stop the Si joint erosion & maybe avoid robotic left hip surgery?
My 1 rheumatologist thinks I should start Consentyx. The doctor who thinks I have AS.
I am thinking I should try Si joint injections, with an Xray guide & dye 1st then the NCF shots. I worry because I just got over Malt Lymphoma recently.
I have heard that shot can increase a risk for Lymphoma.
I wish to try it for a few months & see if the erosion stops.
I do not favor Si joint surgery. I have heard it isn't that successful.
Anyhow hope U have some ideas for me. I do live in Santa Monica, Ca. I am in my 70ty's & am overweight due to not moving much due to my pain.
I also understand with AS people have fatigue & lose weight.neither has happened to me so I am thinking my Si erosion may NOT b AS!.
Any thoughts or suggestions for doctors to address this in Santa Monica, Ca or nearby areas where I live. getting around is difficult. I have no family & little funds...

I've now been to 2 physios, both said they were familiar with grade 5 lumbo pelvic manipulation, but in reality they weren't. One simply pulled my leg (figuratively and actually), the other refused to do one (after saying she could). Of course both charge more for their initial assessment (dr, sport dr, chiro, etc all said it's my si joint.... I don't need another assessment). Do I need to make a road trip? This is getting old.

Can you recommend a good chiropractor in the palm beach area or close...everything you said is about me, especially the part about sitting on my wallet (I’m a truck driver). Or I will come by your office if needs be. I’m suffering daily for almost a year. Please help.
