I despise the perverted characterization of Odo & Kira conflict JUST for forced dumbshit drama as if not done enough in the show. @Startrek I'm LIVID! Odo & Kira have a bond in TRUST & if using that Story of faking Hurq attacks for Alpha Quad help, KIRA WOULD HAVE PLAYED ALONG! Like she almost started a WAR with the Romulans by faking a stand off BUT TOLD ODO! and ODO asked if she TRUSTED HIM! Odo would NEVER NOT tell or give signs to Kira about something dangerous to Bajor , she would NEVER STRIKE ODO! Yell ignore but by now she would KNOW ODO. Your's is BS

Kira shows how much she loves Odo in this moment. She's risking everything -- her career, and even her life if the Klingons had found out -- to set Odo free. Odo's blown away by her admission, especially since he seemed to be gloating in Sisko's office at Laas's escape. Had it not been for Kira, Laas wouldn't have escaped. Kira's handing him a free pass to go and live as a Changeling, leave her behind (and their life together), and join Laas. Odo had been so blind to everything, even Kira's love for him during Laas's stay, that he didn't stop to think about the truth of Laas's escape. If he hadn't been so personally involved with the prisoner, he'd probably have looked into it and realized immediately Kira was lying about something -- he's told her in other eps 1) she doesn't lie well, and 2) she can't hide anything from HIM. In the turbolift scene, Odo is reminded that what he and Kira share is real love. Not a superficial relationship built on pretense, but a strong loyalty that goes beyond the differences of humanoid/Changeling.
For a decade Kira hid that she'd killed Vaatrik. Kira can hide when she has to and it not direct personal to Odo so she can emotionally disconnect and simply just not say anything. But then someone did mention when she lied in NecEvil Odo was not directly looking at her and Kira turned away closing her eyes(window to soul). Since that time Odo and Kira never had any dealings or reasons to talk face to face about the Vaatrick incident til Quark's getting attacked.
I just meant that when Kira tells Odo she wants to stay by his side as he's dying in "Extreme Measures" and assures him she can hide her pain if she has to, he tells her that she can't hide things from HIM. Because by then he knows her so well that one look into her eyes would show him what she was feeling. Early on in their friendship, as you pointed out, he didn't know her well enough to know if/when she was lying. Then again it was Kira's self preservation -- Odo would have turned her in during the Occupation. He tells her that himself. He had the right person all along. But Kira was fighting to survive, and by the time they became friends she didn't know how to tell him that he protected a guilty person (which would have been a blow to his sense of justice). Laas's arrival caused an emotional rift between them ... so he wasn't exactly as attentive to her as he usually was. They grow further apart with each passing day, so that they are barely speaking to each other in the turbolift. Kira knows she has to bring it up so she does, but there's a very real tension between them. He doesn't really see what she's telling him until he turns to face her in the turbolift, as though he's finally looking at her, truly looking at her, for the first time in days.

I know I am late but Happy Belated 25 year anniversary to this episode, let us always be reminded when Odo show his true love for Kira in a beautiful and cool way. (I will admit I was in awe and speechless when it happened.)
