That ALT keyboard shortcut just changed my life
i love using OBS, I have done over 100 live and done about 100 just recorded settings, alway used the studio mode, I don't like to edit my videos, I have a tip for you, add the PAUSE BUTTON only in record mode, why I have over 800 scenes , in the studio mode you can pause , then you can find the scene that you want to talk about next, love the pause button , no editing!
Great stuff. I go crazy trying to get audio from my DAW into OBS. Reading some comments here about speed. There is a way to speed up or slow down playback. It’s 6.00 am here, I’m not going to look for it until I’ve had more coffee. I’m 65 too FYI.
If you're using RME style sound card look for using the Loopback feature. It's so easy ! Just activate the loop back on a specific chanel in the sounf card, send signal to it from daw, use those same output track number in the input of OBS ... voilà !
I love the first one preview scaling to canvas mode! Thanks.
Nicely presented, Danny. Learned several useful things and I've been using OBS for a while. Cheers.
Great video ! Simple and straight to the point, thanks. It resolved a long time frustration about handling canvas I had.
Thanks Danny! Super helpful! Reference scenes, preview scaling and studio mode are definitely getting utilised next time in in OBS!
Hi Danny I was able to most of your videos on OBS and I found them the most detailed and informative videos out on TH-cam. Thank you for making such a wonderful content.
Really great vid man, I've been using obs for years and never felt like such a noob... well deffo be using some of these
one of the GREATEST obs videos i have EVEN SEEN mate! GREAT JOB !!! It helped a lot
For machines that need to have multiple things going on, Process Priority is a very useful tool to make sure things remain smooth in OBS while you’re live!
Great tip!
thank you, excellent video, simple , easy and direct to the point , keep it up
Good job Danny! A couple of these were made clearer thanks to you!
The nested scenes is useful, but the downstream keyed plugin is even more powerful!
Downstream keyer is great! This video was meant to focus on things that didn't require third-party stuff. Hidden OBS gems, etc :)
These tips are amazing! Thank you so much!
You're very welcome! I hope they come in useful, and if you want more, I uploaded a second tips video just two days ago 🙂
You just made this so much easier for me. Great job! Following
Great Danny mate. New Subscriber here. Cheers from Western Australia
Hello there, I have been streaming for just about 4 years now, and right up until probably 3 weeks ago I was using OBS only to accomplish the broadcasting to service part of my stream everything else I was doing with a separate program like scene control and source control and all that stuff so I was just mirroring that output into OBS and then out putting the whole thing. That worked very well for me, however my main streaming rig went BSOD 3 weeks ago and I have been having a bit of a time getting it fixed so in the meantime I was using a backup rig and I didn't really want to deal with setting up my old program that was dealing with all the sources and stuff so I decided to use OBS's internals for the first time. Well it wasn't too completely difficult to set up there are certainly things that I didn't know and despite using OBS for four years and completely brand new to like scene control for example, or transitions. I know that seems super simple and they probably are but to me they were brand new and a bit confusing. This video has been quite helpful. Thank you very much for that. I'm going to watch your ultimate OBS settings guide that you mentioned in this video right now to see if there's any other information in there that I might find conducive to my situation Thank you very much again
Very useful. Thanks!
Really good video. BTW can you also make how to read or correctly use the safe area margins in obs. Like the correct way to set an overlay, text safe area, action safe area etc. What to avoid and all.
Thank you for this I learned 2 things from this video that will both be very helpful
Nice video! Thanks!
As a older content creator and gamer, 65 years old and new to all this I had a bit of a hard time following your info like drinking from a fire hose but thank God for pause and replay😂you earned a sub and I will up my game on editing thank you for a clear and to the point instruction.
That's valuable feedback, thank you! I try to keep the pace snappy because there's a lot of ground to cover in a short amount of time, but I'll certainly bear what you've said in mind for future videos :)
@@dannyvalz maybe a version for old slow guys? Lol… your speed of disseminating the info is fine.., it’s my problem cause I am old… your fine… but there is a market that is largely being ignored and maybe as a public service you could do one for slower older folks? Food for thought bro. I wasn’t dishing on ya… but I’m part of the invisible aging population that is largely ignored and I wish there were a division to game in for senior citizen only.. I do claim to be the world’s greatest halo infinite gamer 65 and older and so far have no one challenge me…😂😆😁😎
Probably cause they all dead or dying… 😭👹
Helpful, thanks!
wow this danny is crazyingly good, why ur here on youtube instead of some TV streaming team
Man, you're dropping OBS knowledge bombs here! Keep up the great work!. ~T
Informative.. without all the silly attempts at humor like some other creators! This is how one can actually follow and learn. Thanks.
Great! Thanks!
thank you Danny!!
Very well done sir 👍🏿
super nice video, thank you
This was great
great tips
very very useful. thank you for teaching me sir. 🙂🎈❤👍
I can’t wait to use the replay buffer on my next stream!
Great video. Can I ask what settings you use for your webcam? I have a logitech brio 4k cam and it looks nothing like yours recording out of OBS. Any settings or advice well appreciated Danny and thank you for the videos!!
I'm actually using a Sony a5100 - it's DLSR hooked up through an Elgato Cam Link. I did use the Brio 4K for a bit, and it's a good camera, but I found the colours weren't all that accurate, and the damn Logitech software always fought back.
One thing I'd recommend with any Logitech camera is turning the low-light compensation off, because it can drop the framerate to like 7fps. You could also try applying some LUTs to make the colours look a little nicer
yes i use studio mode and its has been a gem.
Thank goodness thought you were going to say 9 long hair gentlemen!
When is somebody going to invent a simple feature / add on for passing my audio through OBS into a live Zoom meeting using virtual camera. Virtual Cable makes no sense to me at all. Glad I found your channel, I just subscribed.
If you have not already can you cover in more detail the multi-screen. My laptop LCD screen took a dive and now I only have a 33" Samsung monitor for me to use.
Thank you very much.
❤ well done
Maybe you could help me. I have obs and stream to TH-cam, i want to see the chat while I'm streaming on my gameplay. I thought i did it and started streaming yesterday, but chat box was there, but no chat was showing up, and had to view chat on my phone. I only have one monitor, and i cast gameplay to my tv. Great video BTW and ill be looking through more of your videos ☺️
For MKV imports in adobe premiere, I just rename the file to AVI and works no problem. Any idea why that is?
LUTs!
Thank you!
Ridiculously Handsome, indeed. Thanks!
Hello, very good indeed. I have a question, URL for discord - I don't know where to copy it. And one more thing, I have a PLAY scene and a TALK scene. If I have the camera activated in PLAY and I switch the scene to TALK, the camera in TALK does not work. Can you please advise me? Thank you for answer
Hi Danny Is there a way in OBS (not a third party) that help us create a vertical video simultaneously? If there is one it is a God sent and please let us know!!
Replied on another comment of yours, but posting it here for visibility too, in case it helps others.
In OBS you can set the canvas to be a vertical resolution if you like, but that won't allow you to stream and record in both portrait and landscape simultaneously. There are a couple of ways around this though:
1. Launch up a second instance of OBS, and set the canvas of the second instance to be portrait/landscape as needed
2. AITUM! Aitum is a fantastic bit of software that has loads of functionality to control OBS in different ways, and they also do a vertical plugin that's absolutely free. I know you say non-third-party, but the plugin is super lightweight and easy to configure, and you don't need the full Aitum software to use it. I have some personal friends who work on it, and I can tell you from experience, both Aitum and their vertical plugin are amazing, and so is the level of support they provide.
Oh No!! I made a duplicate profile, then all the changes I made to the duplicate also affected my original profile. I did it to test some premade scene collections, hoping it would merge my profile sources with the new scenes, but it didn't . Everything is default now and I have to rebuild from scratch, which really really sucks. I had so many custom sources and filters, no to mention all of the settings I have to dial in again. Take this as a warning if you are making a duplicate scene without a backup. 🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂
Oof, that hurts hard! One of my upcoming videos is about backing up regularly. It's so worthwhile, but a lot of people don't consider it.
As many times as I've had to rebuild from scratch, you would think I would get it through my head. And I don't make it easy on myself. I have all kinds of plugins and scripts. I'm looking forward to that video!@@dannyvalz
Hot damn!
How can we run multiple synchronous pre recorded videos on a channel?
How about multiple channels?
Multiviews you can remove scenes shown in the multiview so you can customise it that way.
Tell me more! I've been using it for a while and not found a way to change the scenes, and I googled around while making this video but couldn't find anything on it
@@dannyvalz on your scene list, right click any and all of the scenes you do not wish to have in your multiview, and uncheck the option "show in multiview"
This way, you get to see ONLY the scenes that matter to you in the multiview.
@@marcuspee93 that's a HUGE help. Thank you!
Great video, man!

A man's gotta have ambitions 😂
Remove the boring intro explaining the title of the video to get more views. Lots of ppl leave in those intros
Thanks for the tip. So far, my metrics show fairly good retention on the intros, and I provide chapters for anyone who wants to skip bits and pieces.
nested scenes suks
Care to elaborate? Haven't used it myself, but I'm curious about your take. ~T
@@grindgame replace it for grups for all plugins grups and scenes are the same
talk slow
It's something I need to work on, for sure :(
