Beautiful country. I don’t off road but coming out of Trona I always stop to picnic on the ridge above Pantamint valley and Ballarat. Sometimes get buzzed by low flying fighter jets, so some say aliens I say your surrounded on all sides by military skunkworks!!!
omg as we were long haul drivers we went thruogh that highway 2 a week for 5 yrs and heard many stories as well you all be very careful and it was hot lol
Yes! It been rebuilt. We drive over the area starting at about 5:22 on the way to Pucker Pass or Chicken Corner as it’s also known. Good catch. It’s quite an experience.
yes, people from all over the world used to idolize Charlie. I was never one of them, whenever he tried his eye fucking with me through the steel cell door i used to respond with that ain’t gonna work with me so knock your shit off. for a while I used to be part of his security unit staff who fed watered and showered him. Believe me when I say, there were far more deadlier more notorious killers we had to deal with than he ever was. he was a total psycho a serious head case. and that my friends is all I remember I am 68 now.
I had to LOL a little with the use of lockers when going up chicken rock. It definitely “feels” way worse than it is…. I have seen a full size dodge go down this trail. Once you see this it completely demoralizes the process…. 🤣😂
That looked like saleene valley rd where y’all aired up . I’ve been out in Death Valley & saleene Hotsprings never crossed paths with any of those volunteer cabins . Hear about them from friends. I’ll be Headn to the Hotsprings after x mas .
Awesome vid and drive. Been a long time since I've seen Death Valley. I'm impress with the vid from your jeep. what kind of mount do you use. The stabilization is fantastic.
I am looking to drive down there in September. It looks manageable in a rental up through the wash road to Barker going slow. Would you say that is true or one would have to have high clearance? If not, how far away would you suggest if I pulled off and hiked the rest of the way into Barker? Thanks.
Sorry for the late reply, had a Gmail problem. Not sure what kind of rental you would be bringing, but I would highly recommend something with some clearance in a four-wheel-drive.
4:50 Does having the cabin look like someone lives there help with preventing vandalism, or do the volunteers have to continually repair them? Can those cabins be rented? 6:00 What radios do you use between trucks? 6:39 Sounds like you have two audio tracks on top of each other, depending on the software you use when you overlay tracks best to mute one. 9:00 Nice to see you guys using radios to spot, so many times I see videos and the spotter is trying to give directions while the driver is revving the engine or screeching tires and the driver has no clue what the spotter is saying. In my rig I have the old school Cobra 29 NW LTD Classic AM 40 channel CB, ICOM IC-F5023H VHF tuned to the most common Western Canada road channel frequencies, 2 hand held UHF Cobra ACXT54 FRS/GMRS and one Cobra CXT425 FRS/GMRS, I think I have the frequencies covered. 🤓😜 44:07 I can't even imagine what a miners lungs would have looked like after a few years mining that fine powder. 44:46 For those of you that don't think radios are important, this is one of the reasons radios are important. 46:08 Pretty good video, I like including radio chatter in my videos too but I don't always have audio running while driving. My wife just bought me a new dash camera for my birthday, I will have to see how that picks up audio.
Cabins kept up by volunteers and of course “leave it better than you found it”. Yes, I did use two audio tracks. When I first posted, audio was only on one side, reposted with two tracks. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Were they vehicle lights? There’s a place near Watersmeet, Mi where folklore says it’s alien lights. In reality it’s a distant road that allows headlights to appear to be hovering in the sky.
Paul, the price of the Stauns is crazy now! I paid around $40 10 years ago for mine. Here's what I have. Really don't need the Jaco's, but what the heck. a.co/d/hi1Xxum plus a.co/d/h6ap0cj
Sorry for the late reply, I had a Gmail problem. I believe he has 36s on the Tacoma. Maybe 37, but he had a real good job done cutting out the wheel well.
I saw a video of full size pickup doing Chicken Corner. Man, you’d have to have big clackers for that. The main thing is having front and rear lockers. At the minimum rear lockers.
Sorry for the late reply, I had a Gmail problem. You get a lot better traction since the tire has a bigger footprint and grips more, and if you’re fully aired up there’s a better chance you could get a puncture from a rock or another obstacle.
Sorry for the late reply, I had a Gmail problem. What I saw was on the horizon and there was mountains behind it and satellites don’t move up and down and all around.😵💫
When I was in Ballarat back in the early 80's, the 41 Dodge truck wasn't even there?. In fact there was nobody living in Ballarat at all!. The store was just an empty shell full of garbage and junk!. The only vehicle that was in Ballarat at that time was a stripped 70-80's Chevy truck!.
if I had known about that Dodge truck being there at Ballarat I could’ve asked Charlie myself. But when I fed and watered him I had not been to Ballarat at all. Nor have I ever read any books or magazine articles about Charlie and his psychedelic followers I recall how appalled I was how Sharon Tate was murdered being pregnant. my working the security housing unit with such vile cruelty-absolute soulless creatures made me often think about just blowing their heads off with my 45, We used to sit and talk about it amongst us. there are truly times when instant elimination is called for in the world. I lived through those realizing professionally I could never do it as I just spoke about. we had to look at it as just a job and separate the job from the reality of civilized society and its expectations and rules to the game. One of the many reasons I had to stop attending my Sunday school adult class. I found myself enveloped in deep bitterness and anger over my two years in security housing unit - known as simply the SHU unit.

Great video, nice views, and good challenges on the mountains.👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
i lived at ridgecrest and china lake for years.1960 to 1978 a few miles from there.
Chicken Rock does not disappoint!
Somewhere up that Cyn there is a section of road bridge made of telephone poles chain link fence and rock ir remember pucker pass lol

Great trip. Did that a few years ago in MBZ sprinter 4wd. Love that part of CA
I like Charlies business card

@@garbinator09 Ha... thanks for your comment. I don't idolize the guy lol. Makes it sound like my house is covered in his posters when I only have 64.
Very nice video and beautiful places ! I also ride TJ !
Great video! We're planning a trip there in a few weeks, thanks for showing us some of what we're in for.
Have fun!
@@frankiemack8990 we had a blast.

Great video! I've been to most of those places and I enjoyed seeing them from a different view point, Thanks!

I'm going this Saturday. Hopefully the weather doesn't get in the way.

It's the road to Ballarat

Sorry for the late reply, I had a Gmail problem. My GoPro is on 4K using an Arkon mount.

Did you need to reserve the cabins or is it first come first serve?
First come first serve. You raise an American flag to let others know it’s occupied.
What size tires on the tacomas
Sorry for the late reply, I had a Gmail problem. I believe he has 36s on the Tacoma. Maybe 37, but he had a real good job done cutting out the wheel well.
Wonder if my little 2.5L TJ with no lockers and a 2.5" lift could make that trip?
Yea you can make it but be careful.
I would not recommend it.
@@frankiemack8990 bigger lift? Or get lockers?
Coordinates on stone cabin?
👍👍👍👍🇪🇸
Can a Silverado 1500 make this or is it too big?

what kind of radios is this group using?
Baofeng gmmrs
I'm no wimp. I have explored all of these places solo.
What would happen, if you did not, not air down ?
