We (3 of us) did all this in 67 stock Bronco pickup in 1970. No video or fancy rigs. Just camping out of the back. One hill we were on in the Panamints, Pinto Peak, was covered in a sea of ladybugs. Ah high schoolers. Pretty fearless. We used Mitchell's Death Valley Jeep trails. (1969)

I love your adventures. I watch videos when I want to relax. Camp meal suggestion. Take 5 gallon bucket and peel ruset potatoes until full. Put through potatoe fry press. Fill 5 gal bucket with sugar water. (Sweet to taste) add lemon juice to keep fries from browning. Soak 24 hrs. Time can include trip. Don't forget 5 gallon lid Lol. Deep fry in peanut oil, not vegetable oil. Enjoy knowing the secret to McDonald's French fries all night long. Just give me a shout out for giving up secret! Don't forget salt.😂Pat fries dry before frying with paper towel and after frying. Oil and water don't mix. The rest should be self explanatory. Save discarded oil to 5 gal bucket and reuse later.

That indian hill recreation area is EPIC! I was there a few weeks ago definetely one of my favorite camping spots for sure outside of deep national forest

I'm from Amargosa valley and a couple negative commentas: off road driving does irreparable scaring of the terrain; experienced miners will advise 'stay out' ground dries out and mine roof and earthquaqes becomes unstable.
We didn’t drive off of any roads.

Do you ever post gpx tracks or points? Ive been to death valley a couple times, but have never found that first cabin. Also, that last canyon is sick, but I cant track it down on gaia with my naked eye. any points would be appreciated! Thanks!

Shaun, where were the dunes that you were able to drive on located? Never seen ones you could get on in Death Valley.
Those were Dumont Dunes… they are an OHV area on BLM land about 70 miles southeast of Death Valley. They really should have stated this…

Shaun, is that the Cascadia 4x4 solar panel on your hood? Been looking into an option for the hood for when I take my top and rack off sometimes but can’t get my head around the panel only being 30 watts. Is that the one you run or do you recommend another? Almost wish I didn’t have the Rubicon hood so I could fit an 80+ watt unit on there and make it worth it. Have you seen a noticeable improvement in charging?
It is. I don’t run it anymore because I didn’t find it to be useful at all at such a small amount of power. I have 240w of solar on the roof of my GFC which works very well in bright conditions. 30w will trickle charge your starter battery but not much else.

Nah his sponsors are perfect. He manages to have them but not overpower you with them and that’s is why people like me watch. The other guys doing content like this are just pitching products every 5 seconds

Fantastic video. Fun fact: Death Valley is 282ft below sea level. The music at 19:30 hits hard.
The 395 corridor is one of the best off road areas in the world. So much beauty, mild to hard core and camping/hiking/fishing that rivals Colorado. It’s one of the few things I miss about living in NV and SoCal.

29:03 I'm gonna date myself now.. The first time I went through Death Valley, I was maybe 3 or 4 years old, late 60's or early 70s with my parents, and my older brother. We were camping in an early 60's Grumman Panel van. And then in the early to mid 70s we went back to Nevada for the Mint 400 (My pop had a friend who was an entrant)
Charles Manson wasn't a "serial killer". He had people go on few killing sprees, but that doesnt fit the definition of a serial killer.

Hi Shawn, glade you made it to CA for some wheeling. Your in my backyard now. The Chicken Rock Trail is definitely a butt pucker trail and yes, people have rolled off the edge and died on that trail. We did that trail back in 2019 before they did the upgrades. There are a lot of cool places to check out there.
Shaun, does Epic host tours like this through Death Valley? Do you use Onx Offroad, and could you share the trails or the entire trip? I am scheduled to go to the Dark Night festival, but I want to get out of the valley and up into those canyons and cabins. I love your videos - you make them look very professional. If you could share what hardware and software you use to make them would be great. XJ Overlanding Ron

The new one is superior in every way. But I have fond memories of this one.
Most realistic video ever - they show how death valley just breaks shit that should work fine. I love it there, but man, it's hard on trucks.

You really should have got yourselves up to Cerro Gordo whilst you were there - amazing place and Brett would have been pleased to see you, he has multiple mines including one that is rumoured to go down over 1200 feet mining galena (Silver/lead ore), and many other minerals and precious metals - he is busy restoring the ghost town so visitors can rock up - his road gets washed out once or twice a year so 4x4 is a must ;)
