  • While rivals Toyota and Ford launched their latest generation of bakkies in South Africa early last year, fans of the Mitsubishi Triton have had to wait until recently for the 2017 Triton bakkie to arrive. Even the Fiat Fullback, a Triton clone, arrived sooner.
    However Mitsubishi South Africa wanted to offer the latest engine available to the South African consumer, which caused the delay. But we think it's been worth the wait, as the new 2.4L turbodiesel is certainly a highlight of the new bakkie.
    In this video we take the new Mitsubishi Triton for a test drive on tarmac and gravel roads, we take a detailed look at the interior and tech features, as well as trying out the all-important rear seats. Towing and load carrying figures are also discussed as well as pricing for the top of the range 4x4 Auto model.

    All these new diesel engines are amazing. It's like the world is going crazy over these pickup-based SUVs these days because of their practicality thanks in no small part to these powerful diesel motors.

    In Australia, for the dual cab 4x4 in Auto, you can get the base model Triton for $33,000 AUD, the base model Hilux SR5 starts at $61,000. Its almost half the price!

    Whats the point of putting touchscreen if its doing nothing more than a normal button radio would do, it can control the vehicle settings as well then fine.

    3.1 tone towing in Australia, 7 inch screen in top of line Exceed. But I like the sports bar which is different from us.

      wei shu I agree with everything you said. We bought the GLS and are really happy with what we got for our money. It comfortably tows a horse float with two horses. It's rated at 3.1 tons as you said. I'm not sure I fully understand how the select drive works. Correct me if I'm wrong but. Standard mode drives only the rear wheels, which is in essence only one wheel. 4wd drives front wheels and the rear wheels, in essence one wheel at the front and one wheel at the rear. The next range locks the centre diff but I can't see how that alters what the front and back doffs are doing. It's still only driving two wheels. One at the front and one at the back??

    • @Carscoza
      @Carscoza  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Sidrcride Hello, in South Africa we refer to pickups as "bakkies" - no one is really sure why. Apparently it's to do with the load area, as a bakkie in Afrikaans is a bowl.

    • @Sidrcride
      @Sidrcride 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cars.co.za I like it, here in Australia we sometimes call cigarettes bakkies.
