    ✩ Intro: 0:00
    ✩ What Is A Hemorrhoid: 1:52
We all technically have hemorrhoids! You can think of hemorrhoidal tissue as little cushions of blood vessels and connective tissue. They are located both inside the anal canal, and under the skin around the actual anus (a.k.a. around the actual butt hole).
Hemorrhoidal tissue is considered a normal part of human anatomy & likely aids in fecal continence, or your ability to control when you do and don’t poop! It isn’t until this hemorrhoidal tissue becomes irritated, inflamed & enlarged that someone has symptoms and is said to “have hemorrhoids.”
    ✩ What Causes Hemorrhoids: 3:47
Remember, everyone has hemorrhoidal tissue. Usually that tissue becomes irritated, inflamed & enlarged due to applying too much pressure in the lower rectum and anal canal
This is usually the result of chronic straining related to constipation, diarrhea & heavy lifting. But pregnancy can increase that pressure, too!
✩ How To Treat Hemorrhoids Naturally At Home: 6:10
Treating an inflamed, irritated hemorrhoid at home is going to take 2-4 weeks of commitment! Here is an outline of the highlights from the video:
→ Pick a protectant barrier ointment (for external hemorrhoids) or suppository (for internal hemorrhoids)
    ○ To make DIY suppositories out of coconut oil: heat up the oil on the stove or in the microwave so that it becomes a liquid. Pour that liquid into a dish or baking tray. Freeze or refrigerate the oil until it hardens. Use a fork or knife to make suppositories
→ Be diligent about your bowel movement routine:
    ○ Apply the barrier ointment or use the suppositories before every bowel movement
    ○ Sit properly on the toilet when you poop: • How To Sit On The Toil...
    ○ Do not use toilet paper to wipe-try medicated wipes, baby wipes, or cleaning yourself with water. Pat yourself dry, let the hemorrhoid air dry, or use a hair dryer to dry yourself
    ○ If you have a protruding hemorrhoid (as in you can see the irritated tissue), try to soak your naked buttocks in warm water for 10-15 minutes (you can use a Sitz bath or an actual bath-add Epsom salt if you like it) after bowel movements
    ○ Re-apply your chosen barrier ointment/suppository & continue with your day
→ If you have a protruding hemorrhoids (as in you can see the irritated tissue), try to soak your naked buttocks in warm water at least 3x/day for 10-15 minutes. You can use a Sitz bath or an actual bath & you can add Epsom salt if you’d like
→ Look at your stool consistency-what can you do to make your stool more like a sausage/snake/banana? Think about fiber intake, stool bulking (maybe you’d benefit from psyllium husk or Metamucil) & generally avoiding foods that either make you constipated or give you diarrhea
→ Make sure you are staying hydrated
    ○ The equation I use to determine how much to drink is: take your weight, divide it in half, slap ounces on that number, and that should be the amount of fluid you are aiming to intake per day. 2/3rds of that intake should be water.
    ○ For me-I weigh 140lbs. 140/2 = 70. If I slap ounces on that number, I should aim to take in 70oz of fluid per day (fluid is water, but it is also coffee, tea, soup, fruit, etc.). 2/3rds of 70 is ~40, so I aim to drink around 40oz of water per day & get my other 30oz from other sources
→ Wear loose-fitting, comfortable cotton underwear
→ Decrease prolonged sitting if you can!
→ Decrease exposure to straining activities, like heavy lifting, and if you can’t-make sure you exhale (instead of holding your breath) when you exert
✩ How To Prevent Future Hemorrhoids: 16:27

Everybody making same videos. What is heamarrhoids? Why ? How they appear etc.
      This is become boring
And then the exactly same steps to treat it.
With my full respect to you miss
      But people suffering. Long videos
      Nothing special
      Nothing working.
My heamarrhoids are very painful and no blood.
They actually appear after bowel movement
They stay for 10 - 15 minutes then they disappear.
I don’t know how to get rid of them forever
      I feel fed up.
I can not eat spicy food. If I eat spicy then they can be there for 1 to 2 days with extreme pain.
Doctor in UK not even care about it. Disappointed

    Dr Tori, you are wonderful!
I'm a 75 year old "hemorrhoid" sufferer for most of my adult life. I poop daily, regular smooth bananas, have a Toto bidet, don't use TP except to pat dry, hydrate well and have good fiber in diet and gave up on Prep H. BUT, those painful observable irritated hemorrhoidal tissues keep popping up. I stumbled upon this video a couple of days ago, tried your "exhale" strain relief recommendation and INSTANTLY, after one time, got relief. Today is the next day and I'm just stunned at how easy pooping has become. ALL my life I've been pooping wrong, breath-holding, self-inducing excessive strain. A simple, mindful "thing" of exhaling! Wow, thank you so very much!

You should avoid chicken it has long and harder meat than pig and hard meat also spicy food. Better fish . You might lifted up heavy things after just few weeks gave birth . When you have dry woods around you burn it then after burned just left the coal then you put your bottom and back near the coal burned then eat beansprout , fresh milk and yogurt around 1x a week .

Great video thank you very much. Looking at this problem from the male perspective… One of the biggest health issues for men over 40 is enlarged prostate and concurrent problems with incontinence. The reason is that the constrained process of urination that is presented by the enlarged prostate causes men to force, even involuntarily, to really bear down to create a good urination stream. so in the process of trying to control this problem of internal hemorrhoids or even external hemorrhoids, addressing the BPH/enlarged prostate is primary.

Of course, thank you so much for watching and commenting!
That's a great question. I think that hemorrhoids tend to be more related to lifestyle and changes in lifestyle than pelvic floor function and changes in pelvic floor function. I have seen hemorrhoids in all kinds of pelvic floors (incredibly strong/too tight all the way to very weak, usually always related to straining activity).
I think the main reason pelvic floor strengthening exercises would help is if pelvic floor weakness is causing you to strain!

Whoa. Your vibe made me feel all cuddly and happy and like everything is gonna be ok. Thanks for that. And Thnx for the tips.
    Update:
For anyone considering trying this and is skeptical that it will work, I reallly encourage you to give it a try.
It actually took me bit longer than 4 weeks (i dont remember how long. I think 2 months), but after 100% commitment of following most of these steps, i havent had any major pain, and my pain was actually pretty bad 24/7 for months.
In fact, ive only had a few instances were i felt a TINY bit of discomfort. Nothing painfully debilitating. I do have a protruding hemmroid so that discomfort mostly comes from sitting on it, but very rarely will i feel it.
Ive been pretty much pain-free since then.
One thing that I believe helped me that i dont think was listed in this video was not eating so much just to avoid going to the bathroom so much and causing irritation. If youre like me, I go to the bathroom after almost everytime i eat. So dont eat so much all day long. At least for a while.
But the rest of the tips were soooo helpful.
Try her advice and stay committed to it. Its worth it.
And thank you so much for the tips Tory.
Im so glad to not be dealing with this pain 24/7 anymore.

hi, thanks for the video and insight. I'm 33 and have been experiencing hemorrhoids since the start of OCT of last year up until today. Although its not VERY painful or after visiting the doctor at the ER, he gave me some meds and didn't diagnose it as being "very severe/serious" , but still.... I've NEVER dealt with this before and the fact that they never went 100% away from October up until today, at times just causes me to start getting paranoid about it. Any advice as far as what foods can help, what foods to stay away from, natural cures, remedies that help flare-ups , etc.? I'm getting desperate at this point and ANY help or advice would be really helpful and appreciated, thank you for your time.

    • @PelvicEmpowerment
      @PelvicEmpowerment  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I am sorry you've been navigating hemorrhoids since October, but I'm so glad to hear that they aren't very serious or very painful. That's wonderful news!
Everything I outline in this video I think would be helpful for you as far as natural cures and remedies go for flare-ups! The biggest thing to identify when trying to manage hemorrhoids conservatively is WHAT lifestyle habit is causing them. Most of the time that habit is constipation/straining on the toilet, and managing stool consistency can manage the hemorrhoids. It's hard to tell you what specific foods to eat/avoid, as everyone's GI system is so different. Generally speaking, high fiber foods and 2-3 liters of water/day keep someone's stool soft, while high fatty foods (cheese, dairy, red meat, etc.) tend to make someone's stool harder.
I say, if you know of foods that tend to keep you regular, those are the foods to start incorporating more often into your diet!
I wish I could be more helpful, and I wish you success with conservative management 💕

My doctor is not really helpful. He just prescribed me more suppositories. I tried figuring out what foods may be causing it but I can’t seem to figure it out. I’m not sure what to do anymore. I'm glad this video was helpful, but I'm sorry you've had internal hemorrhoids for 2 years and that you feel your physician isn't very helpful. I can't give individualized medical advice, but I can share that I've found the best thing you can do while trying to heal hemorrhoids is to eliminate the cause of strain, which sounds like constipation and bloat in your case! Figuring out what's causing and managing constipation/bloat should eliminate the internal hemorrhoids' primary irritant, which would be very helpful in healing ❤️

I get hemorrhoids when I get poor sleep, exercising heavily or begin a new diet (because I am diagnosed with SIBO). Do you think hemorrhoids could be linked to digestion? maybe food isn't digested so it causes hard stools leading to hemorrhoids

    • @PelvicEmpowerment
      @PelvicEmpowerment  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Hmm, very interesting proposal! Hemorrhoids do tend to be linked to straining, and hard stools tend to cause straining. Perhaps the poor sleep means poor digestion while you rest, which could lead to hard/difficult to pass stools, which could aggravate hemorrhoids.
Exercising heavily can definitely cause straining, not necessarily during bowel movements, but the actually exercises themselves.
And the new diet, if it leads to harder stools due to indigestion or otherwise, could absolutely link to hemorrhoids.
I fully intend to make videos about SIBO in the future -- I hope you are having some success as you navigate your diet/management of SIBO!
I hope some of these techniques are helpful for you! Wishing you only the best ❤️
