    I had a doctor band my external hemorrhoid and I did not know and I thought I met my maker. (He told me I was being dramatic and only 1-2% of people feel pain) He scheduled me for a return appointment and I canceled it and went to another doctor. I'm getting surgery now because I was in worse shape than the original doctor let on. Had I known banding on external was NOT a thing I would've spoken up for myself. I ended up in the ER as a result of pain and they had to put me on a drip because I was NOT doing okay. Thank you for your passion and explaining this!

But the hemmeroid kept coming back. Rach year for 4 years. Finally a few months ago i had to have the hemmeroidectomy because it tripled in size and ihad à fistulotomy ad well. 😢😢 Worst pain ever . Okay, I went to three doctors and two say they are stage one (internal) even though one bled. One said the bleeding was a fissure and the other said to use hydrocortisone acetate, as needed--and that they can do a lot at this stage--after he did the colonoscopy. The third was ready to use the O’Regan method after a colonoscopy and have me come back several times, even though he only spent three minutes with me and did not examine me, charging $450 for the three minutes. Three doctors with three outcomes. I went with door #2.

    Wow never knew about this. My dad had his surgically removed but I've just had to learn how to live with mine and calm the flare down or eliminate minor flares from becoming what I dealt with in my younger year's. I'm 33 now and had them since I was 13. Scary seeing poeple struggle with them because I remember what I went through trying to graduate Marine Corp boot camp with a massive flare. I've never been to a doctor just used to minor methods I stumbled upon when I was 22-24 range. Ones kinda extreme and painful and only as a last resort but instantly works. Then the other prevents flares and stops massive flares and is zero pain. So I just learned how to live with it and avoid doing things to cause flares aswell stopping it from becoming a flare.

    I have a hemorrhoid that popped out weeks ago and has shrunk since but has not gone away. I have had several in the last 15 years and had to be cut out because of bleeding. When shown to me looked like a raisin. This one is not bleeding and does not hurt just irritating that it is there. Can be pushed up into the anus and will stay mostly until I have bowel movement. Can this kind be banded to get rid of it or do I need to have it cut out again?

    First Point. Often it takes months to see a specialist at least it does in Canada so if one rejects banding as suggested by the surgeon.....and try finding a second opinion...we are looking at a year if you can find second one. ...proctologists seem to be a rare breed. and private are nonexistant practically...Secondly I wish there was more discussion of laser treatments as an alternative to using a knife, i have read that recovery is less painful with laser...dont know if thats actually true

      @flyandshy00 I was really concerned about that as well ! but he has been a proc/surgeon for 49 years. I asked his nurse/office manager (in private), along with my midwife at a completely different office, all said "oh yes I've seen external ones banded! It works" so I'm on the fence. I decided to wait until after I'm no longer pregnant to try having him band one internal one but I'm feeling desperate after having reoccurring thrombosed hemmroids 😫 from what I'm gathering it'll hurt like heck, if he doesn't band it tight enough the band will fall off too soon wasting your time (and pain) and that the chances off it not working is possible due to infection from the skin being thicker but he is also a wound specialist so I'm just at a loss from what to do because he swears I don't want the hemmroidectomy due to the pain that will cause.

    Hi, Dr. Chung
    I am a Asian-American living in Louisiana and I have an internal hemorroid. A year ago I went to see a doctor and they told me that I needed to get a surgery and I did. They put me to sleep when I woke up they told me the hemorroid has been removed but when I got home I still see it hanging and I thought they lied to me. As an Asian living here in america I feel like they don't take me seriously about many thing from the banks, restaurants and especially doctor offices. Do you have any ideas on this? I feel super safe when I am around Asian doctors and i wish all doctors in america were Asian. I apologize for my language because I don't know much about English grammar I wish you the best Dr. Chung.

    What are your top recommendations for external hemorrhoids?

  • @hanifsetiawan4800
    @hanifsetiawan4800 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    my name is Dr Hanif Setiawan and I am from Indonesia. Several patients came to me and has internal or external hemorrhoids. and I have banded external hemorrhoids on certain patients, patients who have hemorrhoids that are not inflamed or when touched the hemorrhoids do not hurt, you can tie them using a small piece of rubber, in fact you can tie them yourself at home. In most of my patients within 1, 2 days their hemorrhoids shrink and eventually disappear.
    You can use dental rubber band size 1/8 , 6,5 oz , you must make sure that it clean 😀

      I have a surgeon who is saying he has been banding external hemmroids for over 20 years and offered to band mine. I'm super nervous it will be pointless!

    • @hanifsetiawan4800
      @hanifsetiawan4800 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @dfc41 I only bind exte hemorrhoids in certain hemorrhoid patient conditions so that failure will be small. but believe me binding hemorrhoids is very effective and the results are fast. After tying, you must stop activities that put pressure on the back of your body because it can grow new hemorrhoids.

      @hanifsetiawan4800 good to know! The Dr said I have 3 internal and 3 external. The external are very large but skin toned (not red or angry looking) almost look more like skin tags.

    • @dfc41
      @dfc41 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @hanifsetiawan4800 other then infection or it just simply not working what's the worst that could happen? Any advice if it's atleast safe even if not effective? Also it sounds like I should wait until I'm no longer pregnant then so they aren't as inflamed from the weight of the baby

    • @hanifsetiawan4800
      @hanifsetiawan4800 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dfc41 There are several patients like you whose condition improves within a few months and some recover without surgery or binding, but I don't know for sure your condition but the best way I can suggest according to my previous patient is to change your lifestyle, don't sit. for too long, eat more fiber, maybe you can consume jelly mixed with fruit or something else, it's very good for digestion and change your sleeping position, don't lie on your back.

    I have a hemorroid that is just on the inside of my anus I believe. It has been there for about three weeks now, it doesn't hurt really, just irritating that it is there. Its not bleeding and can be pushed back in easily and stays most times unless I have a bowel movement or strain. I can walk, run and exercise without issue, can I get it banded or does it need surgery to get rid of it. Also no problem wiping my butt either. Let me know your opinion please,
