It is really terrible to drive. I do not know how it would have been in real life (well I suppose no one knows), but if I had to do it on an oval, I would tweak the mod parameters first, specially the tyre model. The car also need a better 3D model. But why not, one day ?
I've been fascinated by the Mercedes T80 ever since I was a kid, so it was really exciting to see it in action here. Mulsanne becoming a 3-point turn was hilarious😂 That was a wonderful video series, great job!
Was hoping to see the infamous WM-88 go at it. Excess of 900hp, confirmed LeMans top speed record holder (407 kph, "405 kph" was for Peugeot's 405 model reveal publicity stunt) said to have reached ~420 kph in practice the year before its record setting run
That 917/30 terrified me. I could feel the relative lack of grip going through the high-speed sections, and it looked like you would've virtually killed yourself if you had just given the slightest misinput. To think a car with that power/weight ratio was built in 1973; those Germans were crazy!
I was watching this series and what an awesome idea. Thanks for all the effort driving all those cars and sharing it with us. In your opinion, what was the most fun car to ride on these track?
Thanks ! The funniest thing to me was to manage cars that become unstable at some speed, like all the pre-1980 cars, especially in braking phases. Indianapolis turn and the Esses (+ braking downhill) was really interesting, and the Maison Blanche section is scary as hell (specially when it's the 12th time you try to make a clean lap with a given car). So I would say GT40, 917K and 917/30 are the funniest :)
Double thumbs up for the dedication in testing some 30 cars well enough to pull fast lap times in each. Can't begin to imagine how much time it took you to produce this great series (I'm still to watch the others but definitely plan to). Classic Le Mans really appeals to me, this 1955 version is neat. Are these free mods for AC? If so could you please provide link to this and the other versions, or point me in the direction where I could find them? I'm guessing Race Dept but any hints/links would be appreciated.
Would really love to see a koenigsegg ccgt featured one day. Would be especially cool to see it without the drastic power restriction it had for the fia compared to the road ccx
I feel like it's a bit disingenuous to tell us the braking point of some of the cars in these tests when you are sometimes braking way too early. In the Reynard, you literally got back on the throttle in the braking zone. There's other cars where you miss some corners entirely. I just think if you're going to be giving out all of this data, you might as well try to get a cleaner lap in each car. That said, the videos are still fun to watch, and it's cool to see how they all somewhat compare.
When testing more than 30 cars and trying to do a honest fast lap with each one of them, sometimes in turns out that you have to choose between a decent lap or not giving the comparison for each car. I chose the first option. Honest lap time was the priority, and secondary stats like braking distance are, well, secondary, sorry for that : ) By "honest lap time", I mean a lap time (with a given setup) that isn't far from the best lap one would have after trying 1 or 2 hours to improve.
On a normal track, it is. But given this iteration of Le Mans is basically 4-5 straights connected by 5 corners that actually matter, it doesn't manage to win due to it's limited top speed. Yes, it likely should have been in the 360 Km/h range, but it wouldn't have won either way.
@@fabulouscarcharts5467 mainly that drill-in-your-butt effect at high speeds Racers in real race cars are tightly secured with seat belts in the cockpit so their body is almost stationary and only head is moving But your head won't have that simplistic up and down effect with 0 absorption which is present in your NeckFX camera On bumps head should lean forwards and it shouldn't be so rapid, maybe with ever so slight up and down movements

My bad, these 2 values have been mistakenly swapped.
hey bro, quick question. what was the T80s mulsanne braking distance? XDDD
Haha, about 1 km
If gran turismo released an update for old versions of tracks it would be the best update in all of its history

The F1 cars most of them can go way faster than Le Mans cars in the Old Le Mans track, despite they have worse reliability than Le Mans cars.

You should add the srt tomahawk x vs Devel Sixteen to the bonus cars!
What game is this? Sorry for the mundane question.
The Reynard confused me. If it's the oval configuration surely it would be pulling left all the time because of the canted suspension?
Suspensions are part of the tweakable settings in game. However, the mod I use is not very realistic for this car, in this regard.
