  • Friends, in this Sunday's reading, St. Paul affirms what stands at the center of his life: preaching the glad tidings that God has won the victory over sin and death, thereby liberating all creation. Paul's whole life revolved around this good news, and so it must be for us.

    Amen Bishop Bobby . Amen,
What a privileged position I am in to have access to you n your faith knowledge and wisdom. Your love of Jesus and Our Catholic Church. It's all online thanks to your willingness to listen to the Spirit, then take action. You and your team set me a fine example as do my own Augustinian priests here at home.
I could never have imagined feeling so utterly grateful to be back online!
As one of many to have been hacked and hounded to the point of despair, consequently resigning to evil and the lure of " That Good Night".
Now... not so many months later I can say with integrity - "here I am Lord".
We the Church, need our priests. Perhaps now more than ever as the great evil of the new atheists stalk the internet, the street and in our own homes...." I will go Lord if you lead me", because" I am with you even unto the end of time."....

Thank you, Bishop Barron, I have been praying about this, becsuse of the public teaching and what our responsibilities are when we are in the middle of a moment to evangelize about Christ it is not easy but God has been putting that in my heart. Go reach out but only use words if necessary living the gospel message at every moment, and when I say or do something that causes hurt in my own home is to make peace and not war. These times have been a test for in one form or another. I have deepen by prayer time. Which has made me more sensible to go help others but to begin in my own home so together as a family we walk with our lLord one day at time. Blessings to you all. 🙏

Im 70 and it is been a tough season. My mom 98 has been thrown in and out of quarantine for months now. I have not been inside a church in almost a year now.. The election drew us to a new low. My friend rightly said that her hunger for God's return is deeper and deeper. Everyone around me is feeling the same.. What a great forum to bring Christ. It is really hard because I am so weary.

God is with you and your mum during this time. He knows your pain and your hunger and will see you through this difficult moment. He who thirsts for God will always find God in the midst of all troubles and distress and God who loves us infinitely will never live you alone. He will fill the void in His best time. Count on our prayers and on the help and compassion that comes from God even sometimes from strangers in our midst

As as an adult survivor of childhood emotional abuse,
I can testify to paralysis. When I was a teen I stopped speaking due to some sort of depression or spiritual paralysis. I was removed from my family by child protective services, and I recovered. Every once in a while, if I am yelled at or spoken to harshly, it happens again. It’s temporary. It’s a terrible feeling to know that sometimes, I’m still paralyzed.
I’m trying to develop detachment, but the deficit seems too difficult to overcome, and defensive strategies of avoidance and self protection kick in. My running away might seem like a Jonah thing, but it’s
    More like an Abraham thing
    I think, only I didn’t laugh.

I feel so blessed to have discovered Bishop Barrón in TH-cam. This sermon like all of his sermons are so profound and thought provoking. I try to keep in mind at least two things that jump out of them to me. One is obvious the call as a baptized to bring others to Our Lord, by them experiencing His Love through us. Another one, the word “OPPORTUNITY “; If everything that comes our way , it’s perceived as an opportunity, or better a way The Lord is communicating with us.

I love the way you remind us that difficult people are in our midst for a reason. For us to evangelize to them and not for us to gossip about them or sideline them or treat them with disdain. I believe they are there for us to grow in charity and patience and understanding and to bring about a conversion with the help of grace from God. As usual your homilies are truly inspiring. God continue to use you for His glory and bless you abundantly as you open our eyes to Sacred Scripture.

Great stuff, thanks. I'm guilty. I tend to see people as obstacles and irritants to my dreams and goals. This view has been changing though. Now when I drive past people walking along the roads, while delivering Amazon packeges, the left corner of my mouth turns down, and I have compassion for them. Compassion for the basic aspects of life that we all contend with. That is, providing food, clothing, and shelter for loved ones. Supporting spouses and children, while carving out time for hobbies.

As an activity director in a mostly Jewish senior living community, I pray daily that the Holy Spirit put the words in my month as I care, interact and respond to their needs. I’m not permitted to out right evangelize but always hoped my compassion and kindness towards all would set that example. Am I in the right place, doing the right thing? I believe so now. Evangelization certainly adds adventure to our lives. It increases our concern for others as we pray for those around us. It gets us out of parochial viewpoints and teaches us how the gospel is understood by those outside our walls. It's scary, a bit like dating, because we put something near and dear to ourselves out there to be either accepted or rejected. That is their choice, but ours is to put ourselves out there in humility and vulnerability. But, when you first see the openings of faith in someone who previously did not. Its like seeing a new born baby, or a dawn in the sky, or perhaps the first time the love of your life warmed to your presence. It changes us. And the people God reaches; they will be much holier than we are-- and you feel the happiness of a parent who rejoices in an infant's first steps.

Great mission. I will put "what can I do to evangelize?" first in my life to see if I can change someone and bring them closer to Jesus. Not easy to do, since for every person that is in one's path that needs evangelization, they need to be approached carefully and differently (as you mentioned), otherwise they will "protect" themselves and evangelization will not even make a dent. I can think of close friends and family members that are really good souls, but are more and more inclined to believe in science or on the life of the flesh instead of God and Jesus. Also, I personally think the Catholic Church needs to become "young" to be able to evangelize the 20 and 30 somethings. The young generation view the Catholic Church as archaic, old, boring, etc., hence not attractive. Even if they were raised Catholic. I think currently, it is not only a concern of Christian institutions to bring people to Church, they also need to be concerned with bringing people to God and Jesus first, then to Church. I will try my best to do my part carefully, thank you.

"Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord" I LOVED it when he took the Kantian "Don't treat people as a means to an end" but instead of going with Kant and saying "Treat them as an End in Themselves" (which is enlightened and humane) he says instead "Treat them as an opportunity for Evangelization." Marvelous.

As Paul spoke in Romans:1 I am obliged and eager to share the Gospel in word, action and example! Thank you for again reminding us of this today!

From my own experience the poor, weak, and disenfranchised are more receptive because they are looking for hope. It is the arrogant, the pharisees, and the powerful that are most hard to reach. The poor love yiu when reach out, the powerful slap you down.

WOW I needed this today🙏🏽. I don’t feel worthy or qualified to evangelize despite my education in scripture which is ongoing.

You may not be able to evangelize through words ( I also feel unable to do so at times), but certainly can through your actions and love for others.

You can also share your personal story. Why do you believe? No one can argue with personal testimony but it can be a story that may spark interest. Just plant tiny seeds, God will do the work. Bless you, God’s grace and peace as you continue to seek His will.
