    I feel like "Name brands" have gotten away with coasting on their image for so long and cutting so many corners that off brands are in most cases superior as they've had to compete on price and quality the whole time.

    • @Jaxmusicgal23
      @Jaxmusicgal23 23 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

      Yeah, I feel the same way too… I’ve also skimped on a lot of the flavor that made them famous and have had to do it. Inflation issues because their companies are so large and bloated.
      It’s gonna be hard when one of these large conglomerate companies actually falls due to inflation .
      I’m not paying twice the price for namebrand when you’ve made the product crap and the box smaller than your competitors … especially when I can go to Costco and get what I need and inflation has barely hit them…

    Internally screaming, "Water! Give that man something to drink before he chokes on those dry snacks!"
    Matt has learned the secret: Get the KS version of food at Costco, if available. Now do yourself a favor and try the ice cream bars - bigger, and cheaper than Haagen Dazs and at least as good as I remember those pricey things to be.
    I lived there for a year or so and shopped at the Kirkland Costco location. Parking was hell, but their 'cafe' was outside, so you could just go get a Costco dog & iced coffee without having to go inside.

    • @HedgeFundAnalyst
      @HedgeFundAnalyst 20 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      I believe you can get the ice cream bars at under 50 cents per bar, may need to be on sale though.
      Also, not all Costco's have bad parking. They opened one a couple miles from my house in the Austin suburbs in 2018, and it is still very empty most of the time. I grew up needing to look for parking for 10 minutes at my local Costco outside of DC, now I can park in the 2nd row from the entrance just about any day that isnt mid-day on a weekend

    My husband worked in quality control for a factory for years. While yes the store brand and the name brand maybe made in the same factory on the same machines, the quality specifications may be vastly different.
    For example: store brand might allow for more variances in the taste and recipe make up, while the name brand could have very narrow specifications. He made products for one name brand that had very high standards. Also if a name brand product is made that is outside those specifications and cant be fixed to be brought into line with them, it may be possible to rework the recipe by adding stuff to make it into the specifications on the store brand but that was the exception not the rule for the factory he worked in.
    To sum up, yes the store brand and name brand may come from the same factory but the recipe and quality standards are not necessarily the same

    I work at Costco and just got off there so this was a nice surprise. As for the foods Kirkland stuff is hit and miss some stuff is good some bad. My personal favorites are the Vitarain drinks the Kirkland Vitamin water and honestly like their Chicken Nuggets compared to the Just Bare ones less fatty. The Tortilla chips are also pretty good though they don’t have the most salt. The two things I had that I hated were the sparkling water and their Seaweed chips stay away from those🤮🤮🤮

    Kirkland is where I mostly grew up. Also worked at the Kirkland Costco back in 1998. Was crazy to work there when we got beanie babies in. People would line up forever before we opened and then just run to the box and started just whole arm hugging them and throwing them in their carts 🤣

    Kirkland is a town in western Washington, the one that abuts Redmond (Microsoft) to the north. While Costco is headquartered in Issaquah, the distance between Kirkland and Issaquah is only about 15 miles, and one has to admit that Issaquah Signature would not have nearly the same sound as Kirkland.
