The magic number is 19, so go check out “the science of recruiting” on my page if you want to know when you should / shouldn’t pitch a prospect!!!
I love all this info but I have a question. Is there ever a reason to send the house, usually gain 4-6 influence for 50 hours, when DMing, checking social media, and contacting the family gets you more influence for less hours?
@@cptboomshard9418it does not. I have tried finding the video, but haven’t found the exact one I watched. They did something similar with STH vs doing them all and it did not do as well. It does work well to stack, but send the house is best use of time till potentially going to hard sell.

Quick tip on the recruiting board you can hold L2 and scroll up and go to players who don’t have scholarships. It’ll save you about 5 minutes but well worth it
Tip on setting up your board: 1) Add up to 13 players at a certain position group to your board at a time. 2) Tab over to My School, go to Playing Time, and filter to the position group. 3) The graphic on the right will show you which players have higher overall ratings relative to the players on your board and influenced by freshmen and sophomores (not juniors or seniors) currently on your roster. 4) Remove prospects that don't have at least a B- grade and add more prospects until you like your board. You'll be able to find better quality in the transfer portal. This gives you a pecking order of who to pursue based on their INITIAL OVERALL rating. It DOES NOT give any indication to dev traits or skill caps.

Pro Tip: While you can land 2-4, 4-5 stars your first year by being aggressive, I think Recommended is the way to go year one. More recruits, easier recruiting, more XP per signing. If you get your recruiting maxed out by season 2, you're ready to battle for top prospects. Also, don't forget to unlock Motivator and Tactician ASAP. Sir. Great video. This is pretty much exactly how I recruit, but im a little bit more conservative/selective. All 5 of your 4/5 star recruits that you signed had this in common.. 1. Had dealbreakers like proxomity to home or playing time that you far exceeded. 2. You were the first one to offer them scholarships 3. All of these you immediately sent the house on There are a few other things that helped you with each of them. For example the 5 star that signed. Every single team in his top 7 of interest. None of them were in that players pipelines. So they had no real edge there. Hope you find this interesting/helpful for future recruiting
I guess a lot of people don’t know this but you always know at least one trait for hard/soft selling through dealbreaker. When selling a player, click over to the dealbreaker to see if it’s one of the traits you’re missing. Also works for scheduling week one of season visits when you don’t know their desired traits yet. The dealbreaker is always one of the three
After the patch, I now love recruiting with a smaller school for 2 and 3 star players and then finding starters in the portal while the large classes redshirt and develop. Those 2 star guys have huge jumps in development after redshirting usually.

Man, this is the closest to how I recruit that I’ve seen on TH-cam so far. I start my board with all the 5 stars that I can go for, and all the 4 stars with interest. If I got any spots left I go for 3 stars I’m #1 on and try to get instant commits. For everybody that falls off my board because they commit elsewhere or the 5 stars don’t put me in the top 8, I’ll go find 4 stars with no offers. It’s tough after the patch but still very workable with any school.
Great video definitely gonna use this idea moving forward with my mid-major dynasty. I’m surprised that you wouldn’t at least scout the 3 stars though. My thought on this is if a 3 star turns out to be a Gem, they are definitely worth a little bit of a “battle” if another school comes in even late. Additionally if you scout a 3 star and they turn bust, you already know it’s not worth recruiting them and you’ve only wasted 20 hours of recruiting versus weeks waiting on the offer to turn committed. Might help speed up your process a little
Bro you’re so dope I appreciate your videos…quick question. Does it matter if you team is losing games? I see you simulate each week. Do you care about wins/losses?
Oh boy it DOES matter - recruits will change their opinion of your championship contender grade based off record + you could upset them if the playing style grade changes for their position (a CB recruit when you give up 500 yards per game) However I simmed em all to show you can still get a good class even if you’re the worst team AND losing
If you use a backup load you can use all your hours recruiting find your gems load the other save file and you can add them and at least you know you are getting better quality and can battle for them instead of using hours to find the best ones
Some people might call that save scumming but I do this too actually. My headcanon is that real college scouting departments are looking at high schoolers long before "spring of their senior year". To me, reloading after finding the best targets/gems represents a multi-year scouting process for players and is viable strategy.
To be honest i dont think there is a complete exact science to this recruiting system and i love that. Randomly stealing a "bust" everyone gave up on and he becomes an impact player feels so realistic and good
Probably could’ve kept a few of those guys if you would’ve upgraded the coach recruiting at those positions, but it was good to see the results at level 1 to get a feel for how each action works with no bonus
If you dont have great pipelines for your school, search for players from states that are less common. Utah and Kansas have given me plenty of solid 4-stars because the schools you are competing with dont have a huge pipeline bonus (unless it’s Kansas State or something lol). You basically just gotta worry about your grades, and getting a lead on them before another school swoops in and flies up the board, which can always happen regardless
I recruit totally different than you. Well, kinda lol. I play as Kentucky. I jump straight to pipeline players and go after the top players in my pipeline. I then sort my list based on rank and need. I then throw the house on how ever many i can. Then, when it comes to visits or hard sell, ill steal the hours for visit from that player. Not other players. Then the next week i just add it back. Ive found doing it this way, i lose out on a few at the bottom of my list, but i get 8/10 of the top guys i wanted.
Your videos are great, man. Thank you for the help. Let's get some eyes on this channel! Takes just a second to subscribe fellas. Time to pray to not be jumped by Miami and Georgia lol
I think at the end of the off-season recruiting window players that haven't reached the commit part of their status bar will just auto-commit to whatever school is highest on their board. Kind of like a "walk on" status sort of thing.
Yeah it wasn’t like that at first but I think you’re 100% right - to me what that means is we can spread our points thin at the end and get EVERYONE that we have a good lead on
Is send the house actually worth more points than using the other 3 that add up to 40 hours instead of 50? Do the arrows not represent the same gain per arrow?
According to a tweet from Bordeaux a couple weeks ago, the little influence arrows don’t mean anything - they’re all relative So while you may have “more arrows” adding up the 40 part, it’s not exactly better But tbh I kinda wanna test that
If youre first on their list and recruiting ends, they go to your school. They addressed this before release, it’s not like the old game where they just disappear.
Great video man you earned a sub for this, only thing I know some others have mention but can you do some testing on your grades for the success of selling players on them.. I’ve been struggling when deciding if it’s worth it or am I better off selling the house because my grades are bad.
Ive been going through your channel since u started. Crazy how you went from like 200 views to thousands. This games hype is ridiculous. Btw do you have a discord??
I had NO IDEA pipeline tier was as important as it is! With all of the different options they have to make some things important and some not, I was surprised Pipeline is so high impact. BUT Last night playing as USC I added some 2 star players from FL and TX for depth positions hoping to up my Pipeline tier in those states after losing out on a couple of 5-star players to schools in those states. Haven't gotten to my next season yet, but I am interested to see if that will have an impact or not.
I'm confused at 14:20. You reduce hours on guys in top 5 that you have lead on. But why not switch to soft sell? I think that gets more points than F&F. Just like hard sell gets more than StH. Looks like you did it 2 weeks later but that's 10 points that could have went somewhere else for those 2.
Cool video, I’d like to see a recruiting-oriented dynasty! Although this seems pretty OP, so I’d be interested what you think about putting rules on yourself to make it more realistic. I am thinking you can only go after someone more than 2 stars above the school rating if they have you in their top 10. I think gaming the sell system is a bit overpowered. Say you only have 2 green check marks and there are 2 different pitches that use them, you need to flip a coin to decide which one you use (even if one of the options is a red X). Same goes for only having one green check, if there’s 4 pitches that include it, you assign them numbers from 1-4 and generate a random one to choose which one to pick. Probably good to avoid OP coordinators for recruiting abilities too. I set my coach XP rate to slowest so I don’t unlock everything right away.
Thanks!! Only reason why I don’t put any rules on myself is because of how long it takes to be able to use these guys - I gotta get like 3 or 4 years deep into a dynasty before I’m able to really use all these sick recruits
Recruiting in a talent rich state like Georgia makes this easier. Could you do a video where you try and recruit in say New Mexico, where they only have a handfull of recruits a year?
Hey, just found your videos. Love the content. I apologize if this is a question youve already answered, but why would you keep your board full instead of focusing on around 12-14 recruits and sending the house on all of them?
2 things: 1 - I have not found that having extra players on board hurts any and 2 - my goal is to fill the extra slots with 3 stars and let them “marinate” each week with an offer. Over the course of the year I’ll slowly get into 1st since nobody else is recruiting them, plus having them on my board will help me unlock their interests so I can sell them when it’s time!
One suggestion for small schools is to not offer scholarships right away but still send the house, then when they have number 1 interest, you could see insta commits. Also hard selling when you have a lot of bad grades makes it worse than send the house
Interesting note on the grades for hard sell vs the house - kinda feels like that but would love to really test it As far as the scholarship offer thing, I still prefer to do it early. I like the cumulative effect of having a chunk of influence every week, and I am willing to give up 2/3 insta commits to get a head start on all of those 3 stars I got
@@maxplayscfbthe channel t4g sports has a whole video out and he goes through the insta commits. This was before the new update, and I’ve tried it and insta commits do still work, but if you take some of what he did and pair it with you, it’s the perfect strategy
@@maxplayscfbthere’s a channel t4g who has a video about the insta commits, but it was before the update. Still, I’ve used it after the update and it’s worked, but he does it when there are more available 4 stars that have no offers. It feels like aspects of both yours and his work perfect together so thank you so much for making this video
I noticed you went to Georgia to pick all of your initial recruits. If im playing as new mexico. They only have like 4 recruits. Do i filter all pipeline states? Or start eith texas or arizona or something?
yeah wayyyy back when i did this, i thought starting with. georgia was smart -- but now i feel like just ensuring you are recruiting pipeline guys is pretty solid
I dont even mess around with 4 or 5 my first year. I get 25 to 30 of the best 3* i can find and fill the gaps with 2*.. and let the first 2 years develop. Then.. start on some 4* its just an extra headache when i can actually find 3* green gems that are actually 4*
Interesting strategy with not emphasizing visits. Are visits overrated? Cause I could save hours there and spend elsewhere. I try to give everyone a visit when it becomes available
Another way that i have been doing it is sorting by pipeline instead of by state, gives a bit more options and still the same amount of points it seems
I would recommend not always throwing a scholarship early. Sometimes you can throw the house at a player with no offers (or low offers like 1), get in the lead first, THEN offer a scholarship, with the chance of an instant commit. Even with a level 1 head coach I was able to get a few instant commits this way.
How many instant commits did you get doing that? I think it’s a bit of a trade off - personally I’m willing to not get 2-3 instant commits if I can let 20 different 3 stars marinate all year long with a scholarship offer, because that helps me land them all But I have heard a lot of ppl mention the instant commit stuff
@@maxplayscfb I think it's worth having the big group of guys marinating with a scholarship, but taking the chance of instant commit on those week 0/1 4-stars that have no offers.
Okay, I'm doing all of this exactly how you say it and still can't get a top recruiting class with a school that has just won back to back national titles. I don't know what you're doing that I'm not but recruits will not come here. I had 9 recruits that had me as their top interest all just magically commit to other schools in one week completely obliterating my board. Hopefully this works for some people because obviously it doesn't just magically work for everyone. I'm literally building this program for absolutely no reason 😂
Choose your main pipeline from HC, then check your OC/DC pipelines. The school also has its realistic pipelines based on the history of the school. Pipelines have starting interest tied to them. If you're Georgia, you will see that you'll gain starting interest from many prospects within the state. Pink Icon(Tier 5 BEST) You can unlock Program Builder in the coach ability tab and purchase the abilities that upgrade your best, primary, worst pipelines through that! Hope that helps!
If I am using a big school like Georgia, Penn State or Miami would I do the same and just bump it up to 5 star/4 star? Or like what would you say I should do differently?
yeah i believe so! i also did a recruiting season at Clemson recently that broke down how i approached recruiting at a big school -- we ended up getting 15 five stars and 15+ four stars, so that vid may be more relevant to you
Trying not to be the party pooper, but I cannot duplicate this result in any capacity, especially after the last update. I've tried Ball State to the Buffalo Bulls, about 10x quick draft sim throughs, and by week 1 every 5 star and 4 star is 100% locked out, signed, or has piles of offers. It could be good/bad luck, but would you consider taking another look at recruiting to see if you can generate consistent results?
@@vanguardj sorry for delay - but yes, I have noticed a similar trend. Gonna try to make a “level 0 coach vs maxed out coach” recruiting video in the next couple weeks and hopefully there I will be able to retest this
I CANNOT figure out why Oregon keeps undercutting all of my 5 and 4-star prospects. I’m playing as Washington and 90% of my prospects are pipeline guys that I lead in interest from week 0 until like their top 3 school period, then Oregon somehow swoops in and steals them from me. I even do perfect hard sells and perfect visits. Any suggestions??
Not sure if this is a bug I have or what but when I had players commit that weren’t in my top 3, they show up as commit on my final board but never wound up at my school. Only the players that pop up as “committed to your school” ended up coming, and we had to be at least in their top 3. Did you check to make sure all 34 of your commits made it to your roster in the next season?
Question, how do I keep the players that are already on my team? I did a dynasty with liberty and Kaiden Salter left my school. Idk how to make players stay.

can't believe i watched this whole vid, but glad i did...enjoyed it. good shit bro
Dang thank you, yeah I’m shocked ppl can sit thru 40+ min of recruiting but hey, at least ppl find it helpful!
Thanks! Now ya could investigate their caps n see which players grow
Great video
Probably could’ve kept a few of those guys if you would’ve upgraded the coach recruiting at those positions, but it was good to see the results at level 1 to get a feel for how each action works with no bonus
If you dont have great pipelines for your school, search for players from states that are less common. Utah and Kansas have given me plenty of solid 4-stars because the schools you are competing with dont have a huge pipeline bonus (unless it’s Kansas State or something lol). You basically just gotta worry about your grades, and getting a lead on them before another school swoops in and flies up the board, which can always happen regardless
This was really informative thank you
Thanks for watching!!
Thank you!!! Super motivating to see stuff like this, I’ll keep grinding !
According to a tweet from Bordeaux a couple weeks ago, the little influence arrows don’t mean anything - they’re all relative
So while you may have “more arrows” adding up the 40 part, it’s not exactly better
But tbh I kinda wanna test that
@@maxplayscfbplease do! Would be very interesting
Would love to see a class where you do scout the players, just to see how many hours you use to scout.
Thank you and dude I’ve seen so many comments on this same topic - so I just made a full season experiment to answer it!! It’s on my page now
Max, have you ever thought about this given all the patches and changes to recruiting since launch?
How do I controll the positions of the players
Recruiting in a talent rich state like Georgia makes this easier. Could you do a video where you try and recruit in say New Mexico, where they only have a handfull of recruits a year?
I tried this strat for NMST and whew it was a doozy
How should we go about things when choosing the “best” pipeline?
Also visits can have another chance of insta committs , so visits are huge
Interesting note on the grades for hard sell vs the house - kinda feels like that but would love to really test it
As far as the scholarship offer thing, I still prefer to do it early.
I think it’s a bit of a trade off - personally I’m willing to not get 2-3 instant commits if I can let 20 different 3 stars marinate all year long with a scholarship offer, because that helps me land them all
But I have heard a lot of ppl mention the instant commit stuff
@@maxplayscfb I think it's worth having the big group of guys marinating with a scholarship, but taking the chance of instant commit on those week 0/1 4-stars that have no offers.
This is too real that you land right by my Utes lol 😂😂😂
Okay, I'm doing all of this exactly how you say it and still can't get a top recruiting class with a school that has just won back to back national titles. I don't know what you're doing that I'm not but recruits will not come here. I had 9 recruits that had me as their top interest all just magically commit to other schools in one week completely obliterating my board. Hopefully this works for some people because obviously it doesn't just magically work for everyone. I'm literally building this program for absolutely no reason 😂
Did they patch the edit ratings already
I have found that the AI go after Oline very aggressively and DBs much less so. I have a 95 ovr defense at Rice University in dynasty because of this😂
After 1 week of hardsell/softsell, do you leave it on hardsell or return to send the house or contact F&F.?.?
Could anyone explain pipelines to me. How to unlock tier badges and how to increase them?
Choose your main pipeline from HC, then check your OC/DC pipelines. The school also has its realistic pipelines based on the history of the school.
Pipelines have starting interest tied to them. If you're Georgia, you will see that you'll gain starting interest from many prospects within the state. Pink Icon(Tier 5 BEST)
You can unlock Program Builder in the coach ability tab and purchase the abilities that upgrade your best, primary, worst pipelines through that! Hope that helps!
@@paraflax9198 yes sir thank you!
If I am using a big school like Georgia, Penn State or Miami would I do the same and just bump it up to 5 star/4 star?
Or like what would you say I should do differently?
yeah i believe so! i also did a recruiting season at Clemson recently that broke down how i approached recruiting at a big school -- we ended up getting 15 five stars and 15+ four stars, so that vid may be more relevant to you
@ ok thanks
Trying not to be the party pooper, but I cannot duplicate this result in any capacity, especially after the last update. I've tried Ball State to the Buffalo Bulls, about 10x quick draft sim throughs, and by week 1 every 5 star and 4 star is 100% locked out, signed, or has piles of offers. It could be good/bad luck, but would you consider taking another look at recruiting to see if you can generate consistent results?
@@vanguardj sorry for delay - but yes, I have noticed a similar trend. Gonna try to make a “level 0 coach vs maxed out coach” recruiting video in the next couple weeks and hopefully there I will be able to retest this
so glad i found dis
Does it matter the height and weight of the players at certain positions?
I CANNOT figure out why Oregon keeps undercutting all of my 5 and 4-star prospects. I’m playing as Washington and 90% of my prospects are pipeline guys that I lead in interest from week 0 until like their top 3 school period, then Oregon somehow swoops in and steals them from me. I even do perfect hard sells and perfect visits.
Any suggestions??
Any tips for schools that dont have many 5 or 4 stars in there state?
Oh man good question - I’d just focus on pipeline status or other dealbreakers that you’re strong at (like playing time if ur a small school!)
Does it hurt recruits interest level to mass offer scholarships in the same position?
