  • This is the all new Mercedes G-Class (or the G-Wagen). The previous generation G-Wagen that started in 2020 had been out for a while now, but now, the well known G-Wagen is in for a slight refresh, mainly on the interior, not so much on the exterior. Also a first electric G-Wagen will take place in the new model lineup too.
Now, we will talk about the horsepower and torque of each model. First up, we have the G550 with an in-line 6-turbocharged engine with a mild hybrid system, making 443 hp and 413 lb-ft. Yes, the 4.0L has been discontinued for the normal G550, so now, it is only in the AMG G-Wagen, which is indeed named the AMG G63, producing 577 hp and 627 lb-ft, just like the last generation. There is also an electric G580 which has before been named the EQG. That produces 579 hp and 853 lb-ft which is shockingly more power and torque than the G63, even though the G63 is still faster with Race Start. All models are equipped with off-road driving mode which enhances the suspension and chassis for off-roading.
Regarding the exterior, you barely will see any changes. You get similar circle headlights with the exact same back lights from the previous generation, although, in the G580, you get a square shaped spare tire compartment instead of the circle shaped spare tire compartment that you get in the G550 and AMG G63.
You might not have seen that much changes on the exterior, but you will see more major changes in the interior. First up, you get the newest Mercedes infotainment which has a higher quality than the older and more outdated infotainment that Mercedes has previously used on its G-Wagens for 4 years. You also have a new steering wheel, and the exact same seats that you got in the previous generation G-Wagen.
Now we will talk briefly about the awesome features that this car has, starting with the all new G-Turn, which is a steering feature that can turn the car so deep in that the car will be able to make a 360 degree spin. Unfortunately, that cannot be used on public roads. You also have the well known Race Start, which consists of the known launch control tech from AMG. There was no Race Start in the last generation, but now, it is here, making the car faster on acceleration when activated. Finally, you have an updated air suspension compared to the last gen, making this car more stable off-road even though the last gen G-Wagen was still stable.
As for the pricing of this G-Wagen, no pricing specs have been revealed yet. But we can expect this car to start at at least $90,000 CAD for the G550, at least $110,000 CAD for the G580, and at least $150,000 CAD for the AMG G63. We can expect that the new 2025 G-Wagen won’t arrive until at least Fall 2024. It has also been revealed in May 2024. Car shown in thumbnail is the new G63 AMG.
