- Finally the ALL NEW VW Arteon is hitting showrooms. This 2019 Arteon is a SEL Premium R Line w/ 4motion. Under is a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 that produces 268 HP & is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. On the inside there is an upscale feel not only with materials but also technology. This is a really premium car with great build and features. VW really went all out in this one.

Great review! I test drove an Arteon and loved it. I found the 268 hp to be plenty. Couldn't believe the utility, it has more cargo space than my mid sized CUV. Looking forward to your drive review of one.

This isn’t a sport sedan though. It might look sporty but this thing wouldn’t be able to keep up with any comparable BMW/Audi/Mercedes or even a Lexus IS.
Hell, the Kia stinger or Genesis G70 would smoke this thing too. This is a V6 Camry, turbo accord, or V6 maxima competitor all day, and the AWD would essentially give it the edge in a straight line.

Absolutely love my Arteon, got mine last September (280ps Petrol 4WD) and still love it like the day I got it - I went for a pretty massive spec (only thing I didn't get was the HUD / cameras) and its definitely the best car I've owned.
One thing that is quite annoying though is the frameless windows, not being able to ever install wind deflectors means you're pretty much guaranteed to get covered in rain / snow depending on where you live, because of the sloped roof

This yellow is sooo cool it's the only shade I would consider owning.... never been a fan of yellow hues until I saw one of these in person

Does it have get up I seen its a supercharged 4 cylinder
From stock the horsepower and torque feel more than adequate.... however you can get an APR software tune that increases these hp/tq ratings another 100 each and is warrantee approved
The dealership will flash tune it for you

This car had so much potential. Vw is seriously lazy for not putting in a twin turbo v6 in this car. Why not reuse the same retuned tsi engine on all there cars 😤
That's the same engine in the Porsche Panamera GTS
The sticker price would be astronomical with that engine. Certainly not VW's market segment. It would be a very hard sell.

I wish you would take time to explain the 4 motion air suspension.
Is it a 2.0t gen3 ea888 similar to the Golf R but it is not the same motor by any means. The Golf R and the Rs3 both have forged internals. The A3/GTI/Arteon do not get forged internals.
The EU models does have a R-Line logo on the seats & in the back, we have a 12 volt charger, an usb port & a household style outlet

Beautiful car... ! You should compare it to an Audi A5 sportback, a BMW 4 gran coupe, or a Kia Stinger. The A7 is a higher class vehicle

All of those cars are a higher class. This car is a pseudo-premium car if anything. Something along the lines of a Buick.
A comparison between this and the Buick Regal sportback would make perfect sense, as they’re very similar vehicles. Or maybe a Volvo S/V60.
The 3 series/A4/C class line up and any of their American and Asian competitors get much more expensive and drive completely differently.
Volkswagen Arteon is in class with 6 Series, A7, CLS but Arteon is more expensive than 6 Series and A7 but cheaper than CLS.

Hi Raiti's Rides! I noticed when you had the hood open you said " I wish it has DCT " but Volkswagen has DSG wich means Direct Shift Gearbox wich is a dual clutch as well.
Semantics my friend. A DSG is a DCT. Same with Porsche's gearbox. PDK is a DCT. Thanks for the info.

Does it have Brake Hold? Saw a blank next to the ebrake switch. The Mexican and American-made VWs don't have Brake Hold, but since Arteon is made in Germany and $$$, was hoping it would have Brake Hold.

@@RaitisRides Would you agree that if VW came to the US Market with a small pick up like the Tacoma it would be a hit considering VW's style and technology? Its a tough class to battle in with Tacoma, Ranger, Colorado, and others but I think they can compete.

Amazing exterior design, little too bland inside. I would compare it over an A5 Sportback or a Stinger or the Regal GS, but the A7 is another level of refinement and price.
I'd lease it if they lowered the price. Other than that they'll sit on the lot.
@@r.d.9399 Not likely that many will sit on the lot. My local VW dealer is receiving two Arteons for the 2019 calendar year. As already noted, VW sees the market for the Arteon as a niche.

The motor in this should really by Golf R spec - 310hp.
Oh, and the ZF 8 speed is an excellent automatic - probably better for day-to-day use and more livable than the 7 speed DSG.
The ZF wouldn’t work in the Arteon. VW mounts their engines transversely. The only 8speed that would work is the Aisin unit found in BMW/Mini vehicles.
I heard this got DSG and the VR6 in Europe?? Still very nice car. Kind of reminds me of an updated Phaeton.

Test drove one last week. It looks awesome but that’s all it has going for it. I personally felt the power was fine but it did not feel like a premium vehicle. Stereo was awful and the Dynaudio (requires an expensive trim upgrade) wasn’t much better. Lane centering isn’t available at any price.

I always loved German cars all my life, but honestly I was never a huge fan of VW Brand named cars. I think the Arteon is one of the most visually appealing vehicles (by VW) ever made in my opinion.

At minute 13:14 as referring to the pedals, you you said that AUDI manufactured it. 😁
Since 1996 Volkswagen has become a premium brand with the Passat B5 model and in 1998 Volkswagen has become a luxury-sports brand. Also Volkswagen Arteon is in class with 6 Series, A7, CLS but Arteon is more expensive than 6 Series and A7 but cheaper than CLS.
Zonking the price
I can understand where you are coming from!
Most dealers don't sell these cars at the MSRP. The only people that pay MSRP are corporate customers who don't care because they'll write it off as a business expense at tax time. A $45K sticker price will be sold to Joe Schmo at around $2500-3000 less after all the incentives/promotions and the dealer negotiated price. I saw a brand new VW Arteon SEL, 4MOTION with R-Line which had a window sticker price of about $44,500 which sold at around $38K.
Too bad it doesn't have the big multimedia system, instead of the little one. The volume button can be easily replaced with the buttons on the steering wheel.
I have a 2012 Volkswagen CC Luxury with the 2.0T. It's been a complete nightmare and needs more power. Everything broke. Roof lining, gas tank, turbo, windows, coil packs, plugs, now the bearings are going.
I have the older CC with the 2-sitter behind and it still works fine except false warnings on the dashboard
This is one interesting VW for sure. I can see where the rear plate is supposed to be mounted, but how is it mounted? Does the dealer drill holes? Save the Wave.

In this case, "Save the Wave" applies to Corvette owners in that's what we do when passing another Corvette. America's first and only sports car. It's just an physical expression of saying hi or nice ride. It doesn't matter what year Corvette you have, 1953 or 2019, one "waves" or gives the thumbs up to another Corvette owner. Another manifestation of "The Wave," can be done by blinking your headlights or just a horn beep. The exact history of "The Wave," is not known, but it's "roots" probably go back to when America's Greatest Generation returned home after WW2. Most of our troops were staged in Great Britain prior to being sent to Germany and like so many Americans, they were car enthusiasts and became fascinated by the British sports cars of the day, MG's, Austin Healey's and Jags and some actually purchased them and brought them back to the states. These owners were few in numbers in the mid to late '40's and early '50's and they would "wave" to one another as a friendly gesture. Then with the onset of the Corvette in 1953 the wave was picked up Corvette owners and continues to this day. Having said all this, even if you don't drive a Vette, even if you don't like Vettes, don't hesitate to give the wave or a thumbs up to one. It's effectively a salute to our history and to those that came before us.

Actually, even the European fully loaded model still has a bunch of blank buttons right there. It’s a common VW/Audi thing, i hate it as well. Main features the US model is missing are the 9.2” Discover Pro Nav system and the Head-up display.
I will trade in my A5SB for this if VW puts a V6 in this
I still can't believe when people talk about VW turbo engines not having enough power that no one suggests a tune which opens up a ton of power...
You can get it at the dealership and it doesn't void your warrantee

Again I dunno Joe, The Mazda 6 signiture has this beat (except for exterior looks) starting @ $34-$35k, 250hp 300 lb ft of torque and Mazdas interior blows this farty Arty out of the water. This Arty should be be 35k. Again great review cheers!

Nah just get an A5. Yes this is an improvement over the cc, but its front grill looks weird, the interior is straight out of a jetta, and the price difference between this and an audi is less than one might think.
