One unfortunate quirk with this one is that new rubber is required in order to not get the same quirk. Amazing. Which brings us to the lesser known features…
Archie Andrews still like the look of the car overall very much... tbh I don‘t really care about the brand too much as long as the car looks very good and seems to be good. I just really think that car seems so sporty but luxurious...
I have the VW Arteon R Line here in Australia, I’ve added a tune and it generates 334 HP and 100 extra torques. I’ve seen 0-100km ( 0-60 ) times of low 4 seconds; it’s seriously impressive with the tune. The car gets SO many compliments and looks from passers by.
Can't use the digital clocks with the car off. Can always glance at the analog clock. As for the 'bumperdillo' ...... don't want to have a typo there on the brochure. lol
A lot of people seem to compare the Arteon to the A5, but really it’s closer in size and storage to the A7. So, if you’re trying to get VW luxury car with tons of passenger space, high-quality interior and tech, and loads of storage in the boot, but spend ~$25k less than the A7. Sure the engine isn’t the same as the A7, and it’s not as sporty as the Golf R, it is such a quiet cabin with refined driving capabilities. It’s a great place to sit and drive. Very smooth comfortable with plenty of everyday power and handling. I am definitely considering getting it tuned tho to give it that extra ~50 hp and torque to help give it a bit more dynamic response.
Hey Doug! The speedometer and tachometer aren't actually fixed! Go into the "Car" section of the main screen and you can configure those dials to be anything. Also you can hit view on the steering wheel while in other modes like the navigation and it will fullscreen that application in the gauge cluster. This is the case in my GLI and I'm pretty sure the Arteon uses the same system :)
This is weird so i have to say something: I came here to say basically what you already pointed out. It gets weird because i tested a GLI with my eventual salesman named JOSH. STILES. The spelling is different and possibly not even your name, but wtf?!!?!
You have to remember that volkswagens main market is europe where most people are still interested in sedans. Thats why vw is making a lot of them. It's the same case with tesla except the other way around. as a person who lives in europe I was wondering why they didnt make a small electric compact car and instead they are making big sedans and suv's - then I realized that they barely sell any cars outside of europe which is the place where small compacts are still popular.
New tech always starts with large luxury cars. An SUV doesn't cost that much more to build than a supermini, but the market will accept 5-10x sticker price so you can introduce new tech without making the model unprofitable. As the tech matures, the cost per unit comes down and you can use it in lower-margin high-volume segments.
Doug: The Arteon is the newest Volkswagen. Volkswagen only has two SUV‘s. Not in Europe fam. We have the Tiguan, the Tiguan Allspace and the revised Touareg. And we haven‘t even gotten to the newest members of the family, the Crossovers, theres the jacked up Golf; T - Roc and the jacked up Polo; The T - Cross, which is only available in front wheel drive. And we have a revised Polo and a revised Passat and every single time the headquarters at VW forget to open to the US market. God marketing meetings must be hilarious. Hans: Why is Audi always making more money than us? Otto: Is it because we haven‘t really tapped the American market. Hans: It can‘t be that.
The Tiguan and Tiguan Allspace is the same thing. In the US we used to have the Touareg. Still, the market is moving towards SUVs/crossovers even having the Touareg that's like 3 really.
On my Skoda (Another VW brand that makes better looking, more reliable cars than VW seems to be able to manage, even though they're using the same parts bin and sells them cheaper than VW) those buttons are mostly filled, and with the buttons that look out of place in the middle of the dashboard. I was shocked the sunroof cover wasn't powered - it is on my much cheaper Skoda, which also has a full glass roof rather than the small one on the Arteon. Look for decent pictures of the Skoda Superb Kombi (Wagon) or hatch to see the best looking car VW make. Not sold in the US, but I suspect it would do well as the pricing is much more competitive - here's what happened when the previous model Superb (Mk2 Facelift) was brought over: th-cam.com/video/34F1eBvlfTo/w-d-xo.html - the new model is much better looking and it's not like the old one was doing badly in the looks department in the first place.
The design of the "mock vent" in-between the functional climate control vents could allow additional options for placement of "vent mounted" accessories like phone holders. Whether by coincidence or intent.
Yep. One would think that Doug was a little bit more versed in cars by now, but stuff like this really annoys me. Against better understanding he makes everything a quirk. Definitely quicker than that. Skoda superb on the same engine and drivetrain does it in about 5.5 with launch control. I suspect VW don't really tune the ea888 to 270hp when it's 300on the golf R. So just understating it for PR reasons.

Yes, I was also thinking that 4 out of 10 was pretty low for 5.9 sec. Anything in the 5-second range is fairly quick for a sedan. The score should have been at least a 6 imo.
Michael Skinner his system is not contingent on the type of car. All cars are measured equally on the same scale. So a 10 is a sub 2.5 second car. 3 second would get you a 9, even if the 3 seconds was done by a 5000kg cargo van it would still be a 9. Since this car’s acceleration is directly being compared to the likes of a la ferrari, regara, huayra etc the score is fair.

Hey Doug!

Doug is hilarious. Good outro clip “6 blank switches...” But honestly this car is a value when you compare it to the Audi A7. Great review!
VW sells several SUVs in Europe though: Touareg, Tiguan T-roc, T-cross. Also the Amarok pickup.

The sunroof cover feature is about air but no bugs..
The blank switches are about blank switches.

0-60mph in 5.9 seconds = 4 out of 10?
WTF?
Yes, I was also thinking that 4 out of 10 was pretty low for 5.9 sec. Anything in the 5-second range is fairly quick for a sedan. The score should have been at least a 6 imo.
its a scale, 5.9 is worth 4 points, doesnt matter if it's a sedan or a 5 ton truck
