      That's just like me, I'll stick with my wife's 2000 Celica GTS. Fun car to drive, don't owe anything on it, and it runs great. The only thing wrong with her car is that I need help to get out of it. 6 foot 3, and a really bad back, I can fall into the seat and get in, but I can't fall out of it or climb out by myself. My daily driver is an extended Chevy Express cargo van, and believe me, a twisty road in that isn't really much fun to drive.
      Take care and stay safe everyone.

    I noticed the Evora getting a lot more attention after the Emira was announced. I was aways interested in the Evora. I've only seen one in person ever and that was one of the early models at an AutoX. I hope the Emira is more successful, and I believe it will be.

      I dismissed the Evora for years. "For that money I will just get a Cayman S." It wasn't until after the Emira announcement that I discovered the heavily revamped 400 and GT. There was really no publicity with the new Evoras in 2017, but Lotus fixed all of the complaints except the price. Cayman GT4 performance with a more comfortable chassis, i was sold.

      I always wanted the Evora and ended up getting and Evora 400 which is amazing. It's ridiculous how loud it is (unless you have US one with the 3d cat).
      Anyhow after buying it I also had the chance to drive the exige 410 which is ridiculous, it's awesome but it's just too much of a race car which is why I prefer the Evora since it is slightly more confy and it's easier to get a coffee with that car than with the exige.
      The Emira however was a big disappointment. Feels slow af, sounds too quiet, and no race feeling imo.
      It looks amazing but it just doesn't feel amazing.
      Maybe they make a more powerful faster version of the Emira, I really hope they do.
      It's an awesome car but you see they are hunting after Rich kids that don't care about such things and just want a good looking car that is confy.
      Anyhow I am glad and happy I choose the right car for me.

    (A note: That Evora GT, is not $100K as tested. It is closer to $110K as tested). I bought an Evora GT to replace my C7 GS. My thoughts:
    The interior is, as said in the video, "Purposeful". I actually love it. It's spartan. Buttons, knobs, and a bone-stock Alpine double-din stereo. Perfect.
    The exterior is eye-catching and beautiful. In most areas someone might see a Lotus once/year, if that. A BMW 2-series? You'll see a couple per day. Just not interesting.
    The performance is not overwhelming but certainly wonderful. Acceleration isn't head-snapping, but definitely brisk and easily sufficient. Handling is sublime.
    I love my Evora. Kids glue their noses to their car windows when I drive past. They cheer from the playground. Other enthusiasts always want to ask questions. It's just .. special. The BMW is not.

    • @JacesOwnWorld
      @JacesOwnWorld 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      To be fair, the BMW M2CS is special, but it doesn’t give off the special vibe to the normal Public’s eyes. The Evora GT is a much better cat for $110k compared to the M2CS. The only reason the M2CS is also now $110k is because of its rarity, not because it’s supremely special. It still is just an M3/4 parts bin car, but just lighter. The Evora is special due to its looks and rear engine design, but I wouldn’t say it’s engine is anything special. It’s a Camry engine with a supercharger, what can I say 🤷‍♂️.
      Overall, the speciality and driving experience is much better in the Evora GT than it is on the M2CS. People will pick the M2CS for more comfortability and daily-driveabilty, but I don’t see why anyone would ever want to spend over $100k for a car that they just want speed and comfort in. Go get a muscle car or just tune a regular M2 if you want to do that, for a fraction of the price. If I’m spending over $100k for a car, it better be a straight up street track weapon race car, and the Evora GT fits that’s bill nicely.

      @neilxpeart 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Sam Huffman, How does it compare to your previous c7 gs? I have the same car and am looking at the Emira. I have a concern that I'll miss the raw power from the LT1.

      @starvin-marvin-the-martian 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@neilxpeart They drive so differently. The vette is a small car but to me it drives much bigger. The Evora is only 11" shorter (I think?) but it feels so much smaller and more agile. Best I can say is that I would often choose to drive another car and leave the vette in the garage, but with the Evora I chose to drive it whenever possible.
      That said, I bought the vette because I wanted to experience a manual transmission NA V8 while such a thing still existed. No regrets, but for me I'd take the Evora over the vette every day.

    When watching the in-car review segments, It’s very noticeable that the M2 CS has a much stiffer ride. The Lotus smoothes out the bumps in the road, while the M2 CS seems to be jarring when it encounters them. It’s too bad that even with the adaptive suspension, that they could not tune that out.
    I met a guy at a recent Cars and Coffee, who had his new Evora with him. He essentially said the same thing that you did in your review - it was the best car he could buy for $100K. And he couldn’t wipe the smile off his face.

Cars that nobody looked at twice, but were capable of speed. One of those back in the day was an early V-6 Camry with MT. Just listen to that Evora, like a racing car, doesn't sound very Toyoda, does it? But it is, Japanese reliability in a very sexy latex catsuit. And that interior on the BMW is still a normal interior with bits and bobs, and it's nice, until you get in the Lotus..

    I don’t have 100 grand, let alone to spend on a car, but for me it’s not even a question. That Lotus Evora is far far faaaar more special than the CS.
    It’s mid engined, it’s rare, it has hydraulic steering, it has a manual gearbox, it has a supercharger vs a turbo, they’re not going to make it anymore, its going to appreciate in value, the CS will depreciate in value, it’s from Lotus, and I’m sure there are others.
    It is a true drivers car in the peak of an era, in a time where drivers cars seem like they’re dying.
    The only thing I’d like to change on the Evora is cable throttle vs drive by wire, but maybe that drive by wire is imperceptible. Probably is, it’s tuned by Lotus.

    • @germanengineering204

    I had an M2 CS and while it was a great car, something was missing for me. It lacked the sound and the excitement of the Evora for sure. Also, the manual gearbox was very notchy and did not feel great. It was a very expensive car and in my opinion, not worth the premium over an M2 competition. I sold it to order a Porsche Cayman GTS 4.0. The Evora just seems to have more of that “special factor” over the CS. That all being said, I did make money on the CS after I sold it after only a year.
