This versatility is one of the main reasons why it’s so special. No matter if the type r is nicer, more roomie, etc etc. real ppl will encounter conditions like this, more so than a dry track or perfect conditions….where the type R excels.
I grew up in Northern New York where I learned to slide completely across town with my dad's rear drive FIAT 131S Mirafiori - no need to fear sliding when you are doing it all the time :-) Cars have changed so much since the 1980s
Hi, from Japan!! You love the car much more than before after you drove it on snow. That means the car is built as a very good rally car. Toyota has been making an effort in WRC long time so they know how to make a good one. Oh, by the way, I’ve heard Mitsubishi will make next Evo. I hope you will try it in this channel as always.
My first winter with my GR Corolla and we got about 5 inches of snow in Minnesota. So sad I didn’t get to send it like this. Even got a set of winter tires for it. Great video, guys.
As a Canadian who lives on the east coast and drives in conditions like this for about 6-8 months of the year, this looks like a fun time and it feels so foreign that some people live in areas that they don’t need winter tires
Years back I took a car control course at our local racetrack during the winter, and during the skidpad training it was nearly impossible to get my car (2015 Forester XT) due to the winter tires I had on it. The instructors really made a point on having the right tire for the conditions, and they were very happy to see I was rocking the Blizzaks.
4wd drive means that if your tires have traction, you can get around. If your tires don't have traction, it's not magic. I still remember one icy morning on the Boulder Turnpike in my GTI. I was OK, but had the chance to see a 4wd pickup going the other direction do a 90 degree spin into the center barrier, with the contact setting off two 360s.
Looks like fun, but with the music it was a little harder to hear you guys via my speakers. First time this has ever been an issue. Thank you for all you do!
Bought a GRC in WI. Was going to go Integra Type S but thinking about winter changed my mind. I’m happy with the decision and haven’t even seen snow yet. 😊
Reminds me of the 60's and 70's when I was teaching my sisters to drive. First good snow we'd to the biggest parking lot we could find and I would make them skid and slide and explain how what to do. Of course this was all with rear wheel drive cars. Imagine my surprise when things like VSC and antilock brakes came along. and took a lot of the fun out of it but made it so much safer in slippery conditions. One thing to note is that all the electronic nannies work so much better with good winter tires. On my FJ Cruiser I put studded Nokians and couldn't believe what it could do. The previous winter I tried making it through winter on new AT tires and it was a terror . Spent all winter in 4Hi. After I got the winter tires, I only use 4Hi during bad storms when you needed it to get going. I have all weather tires and would never say they are even close to winter tires on ice and specially slush over ice. I use those mostly for late fall hunting for combinations of mud and snow.. They're really good for that but once the snow has arrived for good it's time for the Nokians.
Winter tires are essential. In some places in the world, they make it mandatory by law to have winter tires on owned vehicles during winter time. Those who fail to comply get a hefty fine. I got my winter tires on my Corolla IM, which I bought not too long ago (love it). Wish I could get the GR but too late now and didn't have the money XD
You know the Hyundai sonata had another refresh from the last body style and now they have a new n line I mean they had the n line in the other body but this new end line has a limited slip differential on it now I hope you will test it soon.
I can buy anything i desire. I wanted a circuit edition. I was told 10k over. I bought a JCW fully loaded mini, ordered exactly. The Corolla and Golf. R have horrible ground clearance for the snow. If they made them ride height adjustable, id pay 10k over. My comments sound odd, but i probably am the only one commenting who really uses their sports cars in all conditions. (Even my Boxster T has winter performance tires)
I had to choose an automatic Mini John Cooper Works as my girlfriend can’t actually drive a manual gearbox. It is still fun but I think you lose at least 50% of the joy going from manual to auto…
I never understood the poeple who doesnt use winter tires in ...winter lmao.4 seasons are absolute garbage if your country face real harsh winter conditions.
Everyday driver helping encourage my (lack of) sleep habits

Purely in the interest of safety, I wish the DOT/DMV would sponsor events like this
It would be in the interest of public safety. But how can they generate revenue from it? That's all the gov cares about. Not public safety.

What tires did you put on and from where - Your fellow Minnesotan

With the facial hair you look like a snow pirate that’s captain of his dinghy! I love the videos and podcasts! Thanks for the content!
Glad to have you watching, listening, and enjoying what we do! Thank you!

Great show guys 🎉

This was such a fun video! Im jealous of you guys, what an experience!
Oh this is gonna be fun to watch

Looks like a ton of fun!
It is unfair that you guys got to enjoy this... but it is nice that you shared the experience with us!
I did this all winter with my 86 on blizzaks. So much fun. Steep hills are the only issue.
There is a lot of evil cackling to go with that goatee!

WOW! this is so sick!
Excellent review, But in fact, how compares golf mk8 in equals conditions agains Gr? Which one is better on slippery road?
You guys rock!!!

Is that a Richard Rawlings look? Nice video, more combo's required for the future.
Yeah, I was like who is that guy? Lol!
When will we see your sports cars going to the ski slopes?
If you live somewhere that it doesn’t snow? Better to get a type R or Elantra N?
Bearded Todd about to drop the hardest prog metal album of 2024
Man, I really want one of these!
Had mine for a year tomorrow 🎉
Road America has an ice autocross every year, though in March there's not always ice..
I would love one of these for my winter car but the cost in Canada is way higher than my teachers salary!
can u do this in the new wrx thx
Just gonna say it. The beard works!
I really want one of these (especially since you can't get a focus RS anymore), but I've heard the dealership mark-ups are insane on these GRs
I seen you at freshmarket a while ago
Wait what, you guys drove the Cayman and Elise to there?
No... we drove those cars in a recent winter storm for a different video. We didn't drive them to this event. Thanks for watching!
@@EverydayDriver Ooh, gotcha. Deceptive editing! LOL JK
Did you fix the tailight on the Elise?
I'm totally not jealous at all, no not at all.
Side note: How do I add sarcasm to a TH-cam comment, asking for a friend.
Of course you're not jealous, you just wish you were there.

As shown, our guys use their sports cars in all conditions, so you’re not alone! Thanks for watching!
Clutch pack still overheated?
You clearly don’t understand how they work huh. On a dry track is the only time you’ll run into that.
@@KN-jw7ts. It was a joke. Haha
Porthos!!!
With the long hair and goatee I see a younger James May?
Is that evil Todd from the other dimension?
It’s the Mirror Universe Todd.
Don’t ever shave that goat
Still not used to bearded Todd
GR Yaris got an automatic now. Hope it's Corolla's turn next.
We love that this comes in manual. Though we realize, that's not for everyone! Thanks for watching!
I had to choose an automatic Mini John Cooper Works as my girlfriend can’t actually drive a manual gearbox.

Automatic 8 speed coming in 2025
Ew

This is probably the only scenario where the rear diff wont overheat lol.
I'd love to see a crash test.
Here's a tip: Stop shopping for grip and actually buy it.
