A bit late to watching this particular video, but I have to say I can't get enough of watching Harry's reviews - Thank you Harry. I watched this having watched the original review of the Zandvoort Blue one a while ago as I had the 220i coupe (same basic shape and layout) in early 2024. I loved it and have yearned to find a way to get to the M2 ever since - I have come to love the angular, heavy handed styling. Looking between the two videos, I think for a 'daily driver' M2, whilst I am sure the standard 450 odd HP is OK, an increase to around 550HP might be the sweet spot compared to the Litchfield upgrade (Maybe the full 641 HP if I wanted to track it as well). I would still opt for manual ('because you can' and because it is more involving) but not go for the 'crotch support' carbon seats. I keep looking at the adverts to see if they are coming down in value...... By the way Harry (and any recent BMW owners), a quick way to silence the annoying legislated speed warning is to press and hold the cruise control 'Set' button for a few seconds until it deactivates. Much simpler and quicker than going through the menus or even setting it as a shortcut.
That’s why I bought one. It’s far from stock have eibach springs, 550hp, standard exhaust but valves open 100%. Manual and track pack. I have the bi color wheels and a bit of carbon. It’s in red. @joetacchino4470 fair enough. I respect your opinion. I'm a "modder" so for me I think I can make a significantly better car for significantly less money with the F87. Great video indeed. This is BMW at it's best with some help from Mr Litchfield. Supercar power at reasonable price. Harry's face says it all how much he likes it.
Hi Harry. I just swapped from a 470bhp Polestar 2 to a G87 M2. Nearly 2 years in an EV and gone back to petrol. My car isn’t run in yet, and am still learning the car BUT! If you change it from Road to Sport it automatically turns off the speed warning. It also changes the driver display to be more rev focused. You even get a rev counter in the HUD
@@Uchejnr it was a very simple to use car. Very capable with a big shove in the back when you needed it. Any kids in the back would suffer with motion sickness. The software was a bit glitchy. The doors wouldn’t always automatically unlock, and the boot would regularly fail to open. CarPlay was wired, not wireless, which meant I rarely used it. But the built in Google software was intuitive and easy to use. Range was approx 200 miles, but dropped severely when it got cold …it just lacked any drama.
@@Uchejnr I did actually. A Taycan Cross Turismo. But the depreciation is so bad, it’s really scary. Even cars that had lost £40k in the autumn have since lost another £10k. The previous generation was certainly a better design, much more handsome and better proportioned. Like a lot of modern car designs this one seems to rely on fussy details and over the top elements which don’t really gel well together. I bet it’s still mighty fun though especially in this guise!
Modern cars are like handbags these days. Form over function.

Harry, been away for a year, back to the channel. Great review, you're looking healthy and producing sharp material. Thank you. The M2 looks a bit awkward but with the stick transmission, and in black as you noted, its interesting for a run around vehicle. Cheers.
Fully agree on your comment about black wheels. They're horrid and childish. A nice set of wheels enhances the look of a car so why hide the details in black? Black can be used to hide as you mentioned ackward styling on a vehicle. Just leave the wheels alone. Nice review as always.
It’s always puzzled me why black wheels are so popular, I’m looking at a 911 GTS and black is standard, so would have to get them painted or changed for a silver wheel.
It’s nice to see an older gentleman drive a modded 600 hp car. My heavily modded 2018 Honda Civic Type R which puts out 685 whp on a Motec M142 and powered by a Garrett g30-770 in a fully forged internals and ductile iron sleeved copper o-ringed block. Being that it’s fwd the Motec traction control works very good in keeping traction to the road. I plan on buying a 2024 rwd M2 or wait for the 2026 M2 Xdrive.
Yep. Cramming extra horses under the bonnet to overcome techno-obesity just creates another ghastly brain-dead muscle-car. No amount of power can compensate for excess mass. Electric everything? Ridiculous. Fat is fat. Brakes can only stop so much. Vast power, multiple 'driving mode' settings, trick dampers and computerised suspension won't make for B-road brilliance because... physics. Less is more.
@@EleanorPeterson Electric cars are boring anyway. Yeah 0-60 quick bla bla bla. No driver connection, heavy, silent. Like the worst of all kinds for a carguy. This M2 is a good car, but its just too heavy.
All seems well and good, *but*… Considering BMW doesn’t have a great reputation for robust OE-spec engines, that’s a big HP and torque hike via a mere remap without any upgraded engine internals. Also, what about the clutch, diff and drive-shafts? Presumably, the extra lb-ft is well within the gearbox’s limits? And does Litchfield offer any warranty?
Fantastic car despite I loathe the looks. That ipad on the dash is... not good. The old M2 comp dials were just perfection. 650hp 2wd manual, I see many of these in a ditch soon

I like it too.
I agree with you. It's a good design imo
Personally I don’t like it, but I can see why people do if that makes sense? Certainly looks better in black than blue for me
Harry your infusiasm is amazing, it makes these videos so much fun to watch, thank you so much what you do.
Love it! Hope there’s an Alpina review in the pipeline too!
Looks great in black. I think it looks great from the side but rather clumsy from both back and front which is disguised in black. Great that BMW still give the option of a manual. Fantastic car.
I think it looks better on the outside than many new BMW´s. It´s the interior and that laptop screen behind the wheel I can´t stand.
True about the exterior but that's not much of a comparison 😀
Great video indeed. This is BMW at it's best with some help from Mr Litchfield. Supercar power at reasonable price. Harry's face says it all how much he likes it.
I prefer the previous model, looked spot on.
You can still buy one
Hi Harry. I just swapped from a 470bhp Polestar 2 to a G87 M2. Nearly 2 years in an EV and gone back to petrol. My car isn’t run in yet, and am still learning the car
BUT! If you change it from Road to Sport it automatically turns off the speed warning. It also changes the driver display to be more rev focused. You even get a rev counter in the HUD
How did you find the polestar? What made you go back to ICE?
@@Uchejnr it was a very simple to use car. Very capable with a big shove in the back when you needed it. Any kids in the back would suffer with motion sickness. The software was a bit glitchy. The doors wouldn’t always automatically unlock, and the boot would regularly fail to open. CarPlay was wired, not wireless, which meant I rarely used it. But the built in Google software was intuitive and easy to use.
Range was approx 200 miles, but dropped severely when it got cold
…it just lacked any drama.
@@FreemanOfYork so did you consider other ev alternatives before picking the m2?
@@Uchejnr I did actually. A Taycan Cross Turismo. But the depreciation is so bad, it’s really scary. Even cars that had lost £40k in the autumn have since lost another £10k. The cheapest CT 4S’s were £70k, now they’re £60k. That pays for a lot of petrol. That said, I could still be tempted if they fall any further
@@FreemanOfYork yeah the deep depreciation definitely makes the EV world a buyers market
Yep wheels are the jewellery on a car. You wouldn’t give someone a necklace made of coal.
It’s always puzzled me why black wheels are so popular, I’m looking at a 911 GTS and black is standard, so would have to get them painted or changed for a silver wheel.
Black wheels are hydrodip “carbon”adjacent and just around the corner from “4d” numberplates
I plan on buying a 2024 rwd M2 or wait for the 2026 M2 Xdrive.
is it quicker in day to day use? the power and torque curves suggest it's less powerful than standard until the last 2000 odd RPM
She looks fantastic! WOW
“It’s just so naughty” 😂
You can feel the power watching this car driving
A true HOOLIGANs car
Are you having fun, Harry? That review gave me goose bumps. I think you got them too. Cheers 🇨🇦
If this car would be 1500kgs, it would be an insane beast. Had this engine in the X3M, an absolute monster of a motor.
I just recently purchased a twin Black G87 M2... couldn't imagine it needing more power! I bet this thing is ridiculous!
5:25 For the driveway… gotcha 😉
😂
Just liking to see you have fun on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Thanks, Harry.
All seems well and good, *but*…
Considering BMW doesn’t have a great reputation for robust OE-spec engines, that’s a big HP and torque hike via a mere remap without any upgraded engine internals.
Also, what about the clutch, diff and drive-shafts?
Presumably, the extra lb-ft is well within the gearbox’s limits?
And does Litchfield offer any warranty?
I drove the test route last week and lo and behold there was a black BMW parked in a gateway. Aerial on top. I passed within the limit, thankfully.
Fantastic car despite I loathe the looks. That ipad on the dash is... not good. The old M2 comp dials were just perfection. 650hp 2wd manual, I see many of these in a ditch soon
looks gorgeous in black. I dont know really why but I see some similiarities in detailes to my 2002 Z3
Nothing is fixing that rear end sadly.
Best judgement of the design of this car so far!
Torque and power curve makes me think in day to day, traffic light drag racing, it would actually be slower? But just with some more at the mid/higher end which is completely useless 99% of the time
Nice panerai by the way 👍🏽👍🏽😍
Black with Gold Alloys would look pukka - JPS style! Nice machine for the cash....especially with those mods! Great Video Harry!
Impressive in the dry but any moisture on the road and it’ll be in a ditch … surely 640bhp needs x-drive but isn’t an option … track day special ❤
Tyre bill must be frightening too!
@@davidoldridge3138 335bhp in my 2 series is hopeless in the wet but is not bad on tyres
The best we need more cars like this
This is the M3 it should have been.
Wow...I haven't seen that much enthousiasm in a while. Love it! 🙏🏼
How long will the clutch and LSD last with the extra oomph. It’s a big jump from standard in both BHP and lb/ft.
The engine doesnt last stock nevermind the geaebox mate. One of the worst made cars there is
@@bigduphusaj162absolutely rubbish statement too make
M2 is… is something more than M3 👏👏👏👍. With this car appears that feeling . YOU MASTER THE DRIVING .
Wow what a machine. 😊. I think BMW like Mercedes at the moment seriously make good looking cars.
Current Mercedes range looks too round imo
Thanks Harry for giving this class of car another look, I ordered a 23 G42 x-drive and it is a great daily, plenty quick, efficient and usuable here in New England. Your right about the looks of the M2, this was a little too dear for me, but again the platform is great for tuning and thanks for another spendid video, smiles all around
The lads off the council estates are wishing 20 years of their lives away.
I drive a 116i with the ZF 8speed. Seeing this makes me think I now have a bucket list car to pine for that seems logical. logical? Thanks Harry. Your giggles say it all.
The looks are transformed in black!
Yeah, it looks worse. 🤦
Who would paint a car black, it lacks any detail.
@@Gorilla_Jones the detail needs to be hidden on this car
Thanks harry! Wouldn't be Sunday without your video :)
Whoever styled this car should have their house egged.
Another thorough review, the smile says it all !
When are you testing bikes again Harry?
Amazing 😍 and G87 looks great imo
The design is really ghastly :/
I tend to agree, although Harry's diplomatic comment on the colour does disguise its 'beaten by the ugly stick' looks.
The silhouette of the car is beautiful, black perfectly hides its imperfections
It's ugly outside. It's ugly inside. But a least it burns fuel and it has a manual transmission. This is the current state of affairs.
Spot on with all your comments Harry! love this madness!
The overly elongated iPad poorly placed on the dash will never not look stupid
This
Bring back analogs
Ipads are just so lazy and boring
Totally agree. Sloppy and ruins all new BMWs for me!
Yeh but iPads are really cheap for the manufacturers and make them loadsa money!@@AB-fr2ei
You soon get use to it and it’s great for Waze..tick the tech pack and get the HUD then you never need to look at it..
@@steviec1871 why the heck do you need some stupid nav when you got a manual gearbox and a straight six under the bonnet. Use the eyes to look on the road and have fun instead. Stupid screens
Looks much better in black, than the launch colour Hyundai i30N baby blue.
Big thumbs up for silver wheels !
And they needed to give it more power because…. ?
Love the optional black tape over mph! Another great video and good looking car with the upgrades
