Yeah honestly when you stop blaming teammates and start thinking about what you can do better, that alone will bring you up like an entire division. Of course you’re gonna get bad teammates but so will the other team, it doesn’t help at all to focus on that. I had a game the other day where my dps started getting toxic after the first 2 fights. I told him to calm down, it’s not over, we can still win, and sure enough we stabilized and then rolled them on attack and won the game.
100% the problem with the player base. They don't accept any responsibility for losses. I solo queue a lot and its rarely good. Ppl don't talk and if they do, it's not until we've won or lost. I also don't see ppl swapping much even though they aren't being productive on a certain hero. I try to pick a hero that synergizes with the team, especially the tank.

That’s basically every single shatter except for blocked and otherwise whiffed ones, and then why even have a term for it? I hear Emongg say it whenever Q is pressed at all in spectating videos where the main player picks Rein, and I don’t think he’s checking to see if at least one person got hit or killed off of it first. I say that looking at 12:40 in particular. Emongg sees the shatter get blocked and still says it, and it could be sarcasm, but I dunno.

Ow is a hard game tbf. Often hard to see that you could have done something better when there are moments where faults of your mates look much more relevant than yours.

Honestly from watching just half of this video, I can tell you as a Plat Tank that this player is -Too indecisive, can't pick a target -Too passive when they need to be aggressive and too aggressive when he needs to fall back (ie when their DPS are already trying to assert pressure on the enemy they sit back, but when their team mates are dead, they push in) -Continuously abandoning his team to chase the backline as Reinhardt -Lacking understanding that Rein can cancel his charge -Is the kind to only hold his shield up unless someone is within smacking range -Somewhat slow on reaction time -Weird with positioning Overall, it seems like they are incredibly passive as a Tank player and they need to kick that habit. Tanks can't be passive unless they're waiting for a specific moment (team mates coming back, building ult, etc) If they work on even half of these issues, I could see them sitting in low/mid Gold
His positioning probably looks weird af because his initial position as tank is where people would play as a backline unit when the fight starts, and he nearly always plays in the middle of the road regardless of what is going on(except when the payload forces him to move to the side)
Let me ask you a question is it fine for me to endlessly stall a choke using cover to weave in and out but never going and being aggressive. Like just swinging my hammer behind a choke and only committing if we have ults or get a pick. I wouldn't be creating a play at all only stalling
I don’t see reaction time as a big thing until diamond+ as I’m sitting at low plat/high gold but play team play against Diamonds. But ya the comp didn’t suit rien enough for max effectiveness and I agree with the rest of your points. I don’t play a lot of rien I stick mostly to Orisa, Winton, Sig, and Ram but I’d say high sliver for this guy

Enemies who benefits from choke stall plays (Junk, Phara) can just spam you or anyone in that choke out or to spawn. Yes: It's good to build ult by using fire strikes, can be use if your shield breaks as a second protection....but will depend on what heroes your teams are playing. Yeah I’ve gotten up to diamond the last couple seasons and it’s no joke, the competition is much higher at that level. At lower levels players will just walk into a counter over and over again, in diamond they know what to swap to and they don’t hesitate to do so. It’s actually more fun if you enjoy the rock paper scissors aspect of the game.
honestly reminds me of how i was in bronze and i generally couldnt understand it (like "gold is supposed to be average, i think im average, there is no way im this bad") but upon picking the game up again i realized i had no idea what i was doing and am actually astonishingly bad at this game. unfortunately i had to uninstall because the rare moments of feeling accomplished were not worth the hours of feeling completely helpless
I was hardsruck plat 5 season ago, now I am gm 5 dps (gm 3 open). This guy definetly doenst deserve higher in some cases, but some people see themselves doing better, but ye the game changes at around diamond as the comments above say. It gets SO much more fast paced, but you'll get used to it 😊
I kinda feel like this person doesn't have teammate death sounds turned on. one of my regular teammates used to always engage at the wrong time because he just didn't pay attention. After I suggested he turn on death sounds he's actually been coordinating with the team a lot better. Can't convince my husband to turn them on though. He's always charging in, listening to podcasts while playing, and then he dies and is like "where did everyone go??" and I'm like we were all dead.... But we only play QP so I don't make a big deal out of it.
Reinhardt tip: your shield is not for your teammates. Use it as a second health pool. Occasionally you can help out a teammate with it, but Reinhardt really needs it available when he pushes to stabilize and close the gap. Hard shielding like this player did is why they're in silver (or at least part of why).
Rein shield you must think off as a mix of zarya bubbles and sigma shield. In a sense of that it allows you to close the gap, block abilities like sleep and nade or back off/get healed through damage that would otherwise kill you. Yes you should angle your shield so that it blocks a teammate from dying whenever you use it, but it is not a shield in the sense that it stays there to block the damage for them untill it breaks. (Like orisa shield in ow1) Obviously you use it to block the damage from killing your teammates when you cross a choke but after that they shouldn't have to get shielded for extended periods of time apart from ultimates. If you think of it as a sigma shield that allows you to get closer into hit range of sigma's orbs you are basically using it the right way. I always explain it like this: Rein shield is literally part of your resources. You need it to shield yourself to get healed back up after you swing onto something. But first you must cross the gap between you and the enemy. If you use all your shield to get there you won't live after a swing because your shield hp is to low and you die. If you don't use your shield to cross the gap you die. So there is a combination between those that you need. Depending on the shield damage done and the map you can use more shield hp if there is a safe corner to recharge it. If there is not a safe enough corner to recharge your shield or hp you need to take less damage by forcing cooldowns or going a different route or setting up your team for succes while not being able to swing.

TBH problem is with OW you play on a team and when you are not in sync/in line or whatever you want to call it, most actions will not work they way you wanted it. We just don't all have the same way of seeing the game.
Usually being unable to see the flaws in your gameplay but thinking you deserve a higher rank is the sign of a true lower ranked player. Nobody improves blaming other people for their own shortcomings.

Emongg is doing VOD reviews, with the whole idea being he gives feedback and tips to help them improve. Flat's spectating bronze series has never been about reviewing VODs. He's said this MANY times. They're for entertainment to roast players first and foremost. If you send your bronze game to him and are expecting constructive feedback, you can only blame yourself.
I would say there is a difference between the team being aggressive and the team following up on the tank. I think I see where their complaints are whether or not they have merit, starting with the nano'd charge that still lost the point. "If my team followed up on my charge, then someone would have been on point!" But we don't see where the other members of the team were to know if that's true; they could have all been elsewhere and not ready to react to the rein. Same for the grav on offense. Reaper just fell, so he can't do anything (and he was the aggressive one) Junk had his ult, and that ult would be the only thing to maybe work, as Moira was ulting. The window of time to make that work is tight, I would personally prefer if Junk ulted first and then graved in response. Reaper appeared to really be carrying, though.
At some points they were so agressive that they weren't ready to follow up due to cooldowns, health, or being dead so sometimes the team should have eased off. Agressive isn't the same as being ready to follow up. A huge reason for the rest of the team being so agressive was that their tank wasn't stalling enough a lot of the time. Sometimes the rest of the team should have eased up, but a lot of the time they would have had their cooldowns if the tank was up there helping them stall.
From what I saw they were referring to a couple gravs that weren’t followed up on, but their teammates weren’t in position to follow up, so that’s the tank’s fault.
A lot of the time it seems like the tank is passive because they're taking too much damange, but they could take less damange by pushinig up 5 meter and just hiding behind the cart. If your reaper is on a suicide mission there is no reason to push forward, but it's good to meet them on the half way if they're trying to get out and you have health/shields. If both of your supports are playing further up you have to protect them no matter what. I'm not going to say they're playing smart, but as a tank you're boned without your supports. If one is playing too far up you can push with them, but also pinging to fall back is an option.

As a Moira main, I get super stoked when I throw a damage orb right out the door, and DVA doesn't DM it. I always say to my friends, "They have a dumb DVA!", since that first DM really demonstrates how well that player plays DVA.
Demonstrates how well they play dva…. Eating the orb is such a base level…there are plenty of dvas that will eat every orb but still don’t play her well
Pro tip: Put away the idea that the shield is for your team, its not, its for you, so move up and start smashing and stop standing around while holding shield and pray the ppl behind you do something
@@ErikDaynehe ain't it's dependant on players skill and positions and comps. Yes ram is more survivable against certain comps like sym or echo but against mei I find them to be pretty even if you know what you are doing. Also rein is waay better at holding corners in comparison to ram.
5:12 honestly, resetting zarya to 0 energy when she’s been absolutely rolling your team and capped 1st point that fast seems to make sense from this bronze player. Not saying it’s the best way to do it, but I’ve definitely seen worse than that charge off the map.

5:18 when i cancel charge i sometimes go on a tiny slope or rock and then i still end up in the pit lmao. Even when 100% not holding jump i get flung forward

His DPS seemed fine, they were executing what opportunities they made for themselves and the few that the tank made happen, mostly at round 3 and 4. No shot they would get to plat or diamond with their current wishy washy playstyle. Silver is deserved and gold would be a good home if they got more confident and smartly aggressive. They can come over to MH though, we are all just doing our best over there. Come get rolled but a 3 tank 2 healer team and weep tears of blood.
Honestly I'm surprised at the mechanical skill, they actually had way better aim on zarya than I'd have expected from the rein positioning and decision-making
what am i seeing with sym's turrets at around 14:45? I checked the recent patch notes (july 11, 2023) and it says nothing about increased range or them working differently at all except the decreased damage and target reveal. But in this video, it looks like they are shooting much farther than usual and aren't hitting a specific thing (at 14:45, I see it hitting a column/wall instead of an enemy). Can anyone explain what's happening here? Was there another small change after the july 11th patch or is this a bug?
as a dva main it bothers me so bad when a dva doesnt eat the moira balls ;w theyre such an easy way to help get leverage thru the game (AND THIS IS COMING FROM A BRONZE PLAYER...LMFAO)
@@Tiptronics no but the tesla cannon can help 'sweep' the turrets up and deals damage through the barrier. (I also can't aim worth a damn and the tesla cannon helps mitigate that a lil bit). Plus, unlike Rein or Dva, the bubble can be deployed, has less hp for sym to leech and she has to make a choice, either attack the barrier or attack the Winton. Dva being played into Sym is a negative matchup since Matrix don't eat the beam)
Winston is still one of the better options against Sym even with her being able to charge off shields. As you said he can clear her turrets, and he can also get in, do some damage, but also get out if low HP and let the teammates finish her off. Ball also works well against Sym for the same reasons.
At least you're aware. You're supposed to only admit that hitscan people (who can aim) are sweaty tryhards and be proud you're good at junkrat. The hardest hero to master (HAHAHAHAH). But in all seriousness, yeah I'm a tank main that reached plat and went toe to toe with some masters and I would say rein is good against symm. The damage and the fact symms has to go in hard makes rein the perfect counter. Winston is ok but the low DPS isnt as good as rein. Plus monkey is dive and would be bad tactically against symms as they would be front line most of the times.
Im pretty sure I played with this guy in silver at one point and it was impossible to do anything with no tank. Tank rly makes or breaks games in metal ranks and tanks that run when they hit 3/4 hp instead of trusting supports ruin the success anyone can have. Supps never get ults, tank never gets ults, dps have to try their hardest when they get no support bc the supports babysit the tank. Gameplay like this from a tank is rly rough while climbing and now im playing in plat lobbies, finally surviving for more than 2 seconds bc tanks actually play the game

the problem with silver is there is about a 50/50 mix of people who are genuinely decent and deserve gold, and people who are unfathomably bad at the game. its the awkward middle child of ranked. the good players cant rank up because of the shit players, and the shit players dont rank down because they occasionally get carried hard enough to win.

I'm sorry but a Dva who goes against a high charged Zarya with only Brig heals to help does not belong in diamond. I get they couldnt change the hero yet but please back up if you're down players, especially your main healer (and you're staring at your direct counter)
I played dva on dorado and my team told me to switch because they had a zarya but the zarya did not go to the high ground so could not touch me but my echo did not follow up with me to clear the high ground and they told me to switch ahahahahaha

When I play tank in gold and silver you will constantly have dps like a honzo that will run in front me or my shield when we’re down 2 people and I am trying to back up and then the use their jump to go in front of me and die and then say I need to play more aggressive and I’m like we’re down 2 and I’m about to die I’m not doing that or I will just wait out bastion shift in cover and then the dps will peak it and die instantly and then go tank wtf silver can just be completely un winnable because of shit like this
It's very simple, 5 simple words "it's not your fault". If they want to feed that's their prerogative, make the best play you can. If you need to be patient then play patient they die that's on them, if you think saving them is worth it and won't put you in a dire situation do it, if you can turn their stupid plan into a play do it. It's only stupid when done alone, when done together it's "teamwork". Gauge these options and decide on the best one. Keep your cool and don't care if they feed and if they annoy you too much just mute them or better still roast these dumbasses

Why is the idea of cover so wild for OW players? Stand behind a fucking corner, peek to shoot and hide when you're low to get safely healed. This Rein, for example (and practically every tank in silver), just stands exactly in the middle of the path (eating all the damage and screaming for heals ofc), holding shield for fuck knows who. Then either backs away from the payload or just accepts death and yolos cause they don't know what to do. USE A CORNER. HOLD THE CORNER. Maps are made in a zig zag for a reason. If they push too much back off to another corner, but at least try to hold it!!! And for the love of fuck don't take range castrated characters on defense (in low ranks you'll spend 80% of the time doing fuck all because nobody pushes close enough, or yeet and feed)
OK 3 times in a row my teammate left mid game ggs . 5 times my dps were feeding geges . My Ana was fronting and died we lost the fight geges . Its OK tho its just a lil bit of tank diff going on 🤓

I play tank way better then this guy and i’m sitting comfortable on gold 1 as tank. I’m a plat sup and DPS but i don’t understand much on how to play tank and i saw a lot of flaws in his play style

honestly reminds me of how i was in bronze and i generally couldnt understand it (like "gold is supposed to be average, i think im average, there is no way im this bad") but upon picking the game up again i realized i had no idea what i was doing and am actually astonishingly bad at this game. unfortunately i had to uninstall because the rare moments of feeling accomplished were not worth the hours of feeling completely helpless
I was hardsruck plat 5 season ago, now I am gm 5 dps (gm 3 open). This guy definetly doenst deserve higher in some cases, but some people see themselves doing better, but ye the game changes at around diamond as the comments above say. It gets SO much more fast paced, but you'll get used to it 😊

I kinda feel like this person doesn't have teammate death sounds turned on. one of my regular teammates used to always engage at the wrong time because he just didn't pay attention. After I suggested he turn on death sounds he's actually been coordinating with the team a lot better. Can't convince my husband to turn them on though. He's always charging in, listening to podcasts while playing, and then he dies and is like "where did everyone go??" and I'm like we were all dead.... But we only play QP so I don't make a big deal out of it.
Reinhardt tip: your shield is not for your teammates. Use it as a second health pool. Occasionally you can help out a teammate with it, but Reinhardt really needs it available when he pushes to stabilize and close the gap. Hard shielding like this player did is why they're in silver (or at least part of why).
In lower elo ppl rely on that shield

Rein shield you must think off as a mix of zarya bubbles and sigma shield. In a sense of that it allows you to close the gap, block abilities like sleep and nade or back off/get healed through damage that would otherwise kill you.
Yes you should angle your shield so that it blocks a teammate from dying whenever you use it, but it is not a shield in the sense that it stays there to block the damage for them untill it breaks. (Like orisa shield in ow1)
Obviously you use it to block the damage from killing your teammates when you cross a choke but after that they shouldn't have to get shielded for extended periods of time apart from ultimates.
If you think of it as a sigma shield that allows you to get closer into hit range of sigma's orbs you are basically using it the right way.
I always explain it like this:
Rein shield is literally part of your resources. You need it to shield yourself to get healed back up after you swing onto something. But first you must cross the gap between you and the enemy. If you use all your shield to get there you won't live after a swing because your shield hp is to low and you die. If you don't use your shield to cross the gap you die. So there is a combination between those that you need. Depending on the shield damage done and the map you can use more shield hp if there is a safe corner to recharge it. If there is not a safe enough corner to recharge your shield or hp you need to take less damage by forcing cooldowns or going a different route or setting up your team for succes while not being able to swing.

TBH problem is with OW you play on a team and when you are not in sync/in line or whatever you want to call it, most actions will not work they way you wanted it. We just don't all have the same way of seeing the game.
Usually being unable to see the flaws in your gameplay but thinking you deserve a higher rank is the sign of a true lower ranked player. Nobody improves blaming other people for their own shortcomings.

Flat's spectating bronze series has never been about reviewing VODs. He's said this MANY times. They're for entertainment to roast players first and foremost. If you send your bronze game to him and are expecting constructive feedback, you can only blame yourself.
I would say there is a difference between the team being aggressive and the team following up on the tank. I think I see where their complaints are whether or not they have merit, starting with the nano'd charge that still lost the point. "If my team followed up on my charge, then someone would have been on point!" But we don't see where the other members of the team were to know if that's true; they could have all been elsewhere and not ready to react to the rein. Same for the grav on offense. Reaper just fell, so he can't do anything (and he was the aggressive one) Junk had his ult, and that ult would be the only thing to maybe work, as Moira was ulting. The window of time to make that work is tight, I would personally prefer if Junk ulted first and then graved in response. Reaper appeared to really be carrying, though.
At some points they were so agressive that they weren't ready to follow up due to cooldowns, health, or being dead so sometimes the team should have eased off. Agressive isn't the same as being ready to follow up. A huge reason for the rest of the team being so agressive was that their tank wasn't stalling enough a lot of the time. Sometimes the rest of the team should have eased up, but a lot of the time they would have had their cooldowns if the tank was up there helping them stall.
From what I saw they were referring to a couple gravs that weren’t followed up on, but their teammates weren’t in position to follow up, so that’s the tank’s fault.

A lot of the time it seems like the tank is passive because they're taking too much damange, but they could take less damange by pushinig up 5 meter and just hiding behind the cart.
If your reaper is on a suicide mission there is no reason to push forward, but it's good to meet them on the half way if they're trying to get out and you have health/shields. If both of your supports are playing further up you have to protect them no matter what. I'm not going to say they're playing smart, but as a tank you're boned without your supports. If one is playing too far up you can push with them, but also pinging to fall back is an option.
I could understand being ranked a division too low, but if you were truly a plat or diamond tank, you would climb out of silver pretty quickly.

As a Moira main, I get super stoked when I throw a damage orb right out the door, and DVA doesn't DM it. I always say to my friends, "They have a dumb DVA!", since that first DM really demonstrates how well that player plays DVA.

That's exactly how I play Sigma, except for specific instances when i need to block off a flank angle or block LOS from a sniper.
@@ErikDaynehe ain't it's dependant on players skill and positions and comps. Yes ram is more survivable against certain comps like sym or echo but against mei I find them to be pretty even if you know what you are doing. Also rein is waay better at holding corners in comparison to ram.
5:12 honestly, resetting zarya to 0 energy when she’s been absolutely rolling your team and capped 1st point that fast seems to make sense from this bronze player. Not saying it’s the best way to do it, but I’ve definitely seen worse than that charge off the map.
The enemy just capped the point, so now Zarya spawns back near her team, meanwhile, rein spawns miles away and has to travel across half the map.

His DPS seemed fine, they were executing what opportunities they made for themselves and the few that the tank made happen, mostly at round 3 and 4.
No shot they would get to plat or diamond with their current wishy washy playstyle. Silver is deserved and gold would be a good home if they got more confident and smartly aggressive.
They can come over to MH though, we are all just doing our best over there. Come get rolled but a 3 tank 2 healer team and weep tears of blood.

what am i seeing with sym's turrets at around 14:45? I checked the recent patch notes (july 11, 2023) and it says nothing about increased range or them working differently at all except the decreased damage and target reveal. But in this video, it looks like they are shooting much farther than usual and aren't hitting a specific thing (at 14:45, I see it hitting a column/wall instead of an enemy). Can anyone explain what's happening here? Was there another small change after the july 11th patch or is this a bug?

@@Tiptronics no but the tesla cannon can help 'sweep' the turrets up and deals damage through the barrier. (I also can't aim worth a damn and the tesla cannon helps mitigate that a lil bit).
Plus, unlike Rein or Dva, the bubble can be deployed, has less hp for sym to leech and she has to make a choice, either attack the barrier or attack the Winton. Dva being played into Sym is a negative matchup since Matrix don't eat the beam)
Winston is still one of the better options against Sym even with her being able to charge off shields. As you said he can clear her turrets, and he can also get in, do some damage, but also get out if low HP and let the teammates finish her off. Ball also works well against Sym for the same reasons.
At least you're aware. You're supposed to only admit that hitscan people (who can aim) are sweaty tryhards and be proud you're good at junkrat. The hardest hero to master (HAHAHAHAH).
But in all seriousness, yeah I'm a tank main that reached plat and went toe to toe with some masters and I would say rein is good against symm. The damage and the fact symms has to go in hard makes rein the perfect counter. Winston is ok but the low DPS isnt as good as rein. Plus monkey is dive and would be bad tactically against symms as they would be front line most of the times.
Im pretty sure I played with this guy in silver at one point and it was impossible to do anything with no tank. Tank rly makes or breaks games in metal ranks and tanks that run when they hit 3/4 hp instead of trusting supports ruin the success anyone can have. Supps never get ults, tank never gets ults, dps have to try their hardest when they get no support bc the supports babysit the tank. Gameplay like this from a tank is rly rough while climbing and now im playing in plat lobbies, finally surviving for more than 2 seconds bc tanks actually play the game

When I play tank in gold and silver you will constantly have dps like a honzo that will run in front me or my shield when we’re down 2 people and I am trying to back up and then the use their jump to go in front of me and die and then say I need to play more aggressive and I’m like we’re down 2 and I’m about to die I’m not doing that or I will just wait out bastion shift in cover and then the dps will peak it and die instantly and then go tank wtf silver can just be completely un winnable because of shit like this
It's very simple, 5 simple words "it's not your fault". If they want to feed that's their prerogative, make the best play you can. If you need to be patient then play patient they die that's on them, if you think saving them is worth it and won't put you in a dire situation do it, if you can turn their stupid plan into a play do it.
It's only stupid when done alone, when done together it's "teamwork". Gauge these options and decide on the best one. Keep your cool and don't care if they feed and if they annoy you too much just mute them or better still roast these dumbasses

To be fair, there are tanks on diamond that play like that. Just saying.
Why is the idea of cover so wild for OW players? Stand behind a fucking corner, peek to shoot and hide when you're low to get safely healed. This Rein, for example (and practically every tank in silver), just stands exactly in the middle of the path (eating all the damage and screaming for heals ofc), holding shield for fuck knows who. Then either backs away from the payload or just accepts death and yolos cause they don't know what to do. USE A CORNER. HOLD THE CORNER. Maps are made in a zig zag for a reason. If they push too much back off to another corner, but at least try to hold it!!! And for the love of fuck don't take range castrated characters on defense (in low ranks you'll spend 80% of the time doing fuck all because nobody pushes close enough, or yeet and feed)
Because in ow1 there were a million shields, so using cover and corners wasn't as important back then. We're all spoiled by ow1
getting to plat/gold on tank only requires being less of an idiot than the enemy tank.. i feel like if you are hardstuck on tank its 100% on you
