    I have watched a lot of videos on turning a pepper mill. Yours is by far the best and most complete for information right down to measuring. Very well done. It gave me enough confidence to give it a try. Thank you for sharing.

    Nothing more frustrating than your joint coming apart! You are the first turner that I have watched glue up the blank. It never crossed my mind. Great idea and it opens a lot of design ideas.

    Your video was very informative as I bought a lathe 2 months ago. I ordered 15 kits from Lee Valley to make Christmas gifts. Thanks for the great video.

      I hope that motivation turns into more than just a motivation. What are you waiting for Mike. Get out there and make some dust on the lathe sir!!!!! LOL. Thanks for tuning in to the show.

    Great project! And man, that is one serious roughing gouge!

      Thanks for the kind words Aaron. I'm glad that you like the project. I don't get a chance to use this gouge very often so this project was a perfect opportunity. I normally use my 3/4" gouge for projects. Go big or go home I guess. LOL. Thanks for tuning in

      I can tell you that I don't show the CA finish in next week's show. I have shown the process on other videos and the process is identical. Here is the video link on how to apply a CA finish to woodworking on the lathe.

    Very Nicely done Ken, I'm not really a Lathe Person too messy for starters, but i do like watching a good turn (so to speak).
    I'm really looking forward to part 2, and like you said at the start they would make nice presents for people, i for one love pepper on my food. There's a TV Chef here in Eng called Ainsley Harriet, he had his own Salt and Pepper the Pepper Mill was massive at least 2ft, and he called his Suzie Salt and Percy Pepper ha ha love it, he was a good laugh.
    TC, my Friend and as usual Regards to the Family, Barry (Eng)

      Thanks Barry. I have a large pepper mill that we use at the table. I'm not sure of the height of it (I would have to measure to be sure) but it was turned from a piece of Flame Box Elder a few years back. I haven't named it yet and chances are I won't, but you can feel free to give it a name if you like. ha ha ha ha ha ha. Always great to hear from you sir.

    Great combination of timber for the mill, is it a favorite of yours? I recall you used it on the plane restoration video too. :)

      Walnut and Maple is definitely my favourite combination of woods. I just love the contrast.

    the quality of yours vids ,is really great, just a small bit of constructive criticism , and it is meant in a good way, you talk a bit too much , school teacher style. Sorry otherwise I am a fan of your vids, great work.

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're not the first person to say that I talk too much. I appreciate the kind words on the show and the constructive criticism. It's not like I go out of my way to talk a lot on the show, it's just the way I am and it's just the way I teach and describe things. Some folks like it, and some folks don't. I'm glad you're a fan of the show and that you took the time to leave me a comment. It's appreciated. I'd like to say that I'll try to talk less in the future, but I really don't think I can. ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. If you don't believe me, ask my wife....I never shut up. ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Thanks for tuning in.

      Personally, I like the verbal part of the show just as much as the actual construction of each project. It helps me to understand the process better if I know his thoughts and reason for each step. Just my opinion.

      Opinions like yours Katie, is the reason that I explain things the way I do. Glad to hear that you are enjoying the show and I hope that you will continue to find episodes that will interest you.
