    I have never seen anyone make a salt and pepper mill and it is cool to see how they all come together. Great job on carving. You are truly blessed with talent!

    I missed the sound of your voice, glad you are doing more voice over work in your videos now 🥰 definitely was nice to see you doing basics, though. It was like seeing a picture of a seedling next to a grown tree

    So good to see a left handed turner,the only down side you don't measure in metric.

    • @SpragueWoodturning
      @SpragueWoodturning  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Canada has the metric system, however I find all construction and most general woodworking measurements are done in imperial and volumes and weight are done in metric. We’re complicated, eh.

    Thanks for the video. I go to thrift stores and look for salt and pepper mills. Sometimes I find brand new ones that have good mechanisms and have never been used for only a dollar or two. Much cheaper than from any store. Disassemble and you have a mechanism to use in your own design.

    • @SpragueWoodturning

      That’s a good idea for personal use, but I would never do that for a set I would sell. Jim.

      Hi Eileen, I’ve tried my laptop and iPad an all seems fine. Try restarting your computer to see if that helps, other than that I don’t know what the problem would be, Jim.

    Hey jim. I know this is a old video but I was wondering where do you get your grinder mechanisms from? Yeah, I can get anyone from Amazon but I prefer the one's you use.

    I'm just so tickled pink that I found your channel I've been watching different turners work with wood and resin but I never seen anybody use natural substances instead of filling it all up with resin

    You should make a third grinder out of blood wood for redpepper blends

      I’ve made mills for people in the past for grinding spices and have been told they don’t work all that well on spices, do you have any experience with spice mills? Thanks

    Beautiful! Do you ever make them with inlays? I love the abalone or mussel shell inlays

    • @SpragueWoodturning

      I do, but usually only when I need to fill a knot or correct some issues, Jim.

      I recommend that you make some inlays on purpose! That would be gorgeous! Some sort of crisscrossed pattern or long swirling thing. 😍

    When you put the spindle in your jaws it looks like you’re leaning the jaw chuck “wrench (?)’” against the piece to see that it is spinning straight. Is that what you’re doing? Can you explain how that helps or what you do to correct it if it isn’t turning true? Example of what I’m talking about at about 14:45

    • @SpragueWoodturning
      @SpragueWoodturning  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s correct. The blank is tight but not tight enough that I can’t move it with some pressure so it runs true. I then tighten it down so it stays that way.

    • @peterstephens9009
      @peterstephens9009 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1
