If there's anything I miss about being locked up was the vigorous work outs and set routine. It always felt like I was bettering myself everyday. After programming all day and waiting to work out you finally get it in and all the stress is gone and then you can actually sit down a read a great book that does Wonders for your mental health. I have never been able to get that same structure of working out and routine out of life being free even though outside we can eat foods that directly help our fitness goals.. I mean a year after jail I continued to workout and got bulky af but it didn't feel like the militant lifestyle of bettering myself in everyway like being in jail was.
High volume reps is where it's at. But since you're in your 50s you have to be mindful of the wear and tear on your joints. To continue to do high volume bodyweight exercises and preserving the health of your joints maybe you should look into a training method called Time/Volume Training by a guy named Nick Nilsson. I'm about to be 50 in two months and I do high volume bodyweight workouts too. Let's get it bro! 💪🏾
52 here and I’ve I did a 3 year stint back in my late teens-early twenties and we luckily had “the work out yard”. That’s where I learned to go BEAST mode, young white pretty boy back then, so I felt I had no choice but to bring it everyday with a mentality that I still carry in the gym to this day. High volume is good but I never want to lose my strength and as a Personal Trainer trust me you’ll lose it on high volume, plus it’s bad on your joints the older ya get. My favorite programs are drop sets, 4x8 sets and I’ll always finish off the muscle group with 2x25. For me that’s the best of both worlds.
@@mtnbums2000 I actually agree with you. Even with high volume workouts ( be it with weights or calisthenics ) you should still dedicate one or two days to strength training.

Cops and Correctional Officers need to pay attention. There is a reason why there is the saying " when in Rome, do what the Romans do". Get money. If I was a CO, I would do inmate workouts combined with one heavy lifting movement ( personally either deadlift or zercher lift for explosive power). When I competed in a combat sport and was in cali for competition, my former sensei and I had a conversation with a correctional officer . He said the reason why alot of Co's get worn out is because of cardio. Working out in a fitness gym and working out in confinement are two different worlds. Why? One way is for fitness while free. The other is fitness for survival in a world full of degenerates who have no problem taking your life. Also, if one lives in the hood, one should exercise like convicts. Why? The quote I expressed In this comment.
@@Berenicerobedo thanks Raul. But why down to the shins? Why not either have pants, or athletic shorts? Can things be hidden? People wouldn’t wear them like that on the outside.
