My favorite part about _Slugterra_ is that it takes the concept of "slugs" as "small soft-bodied mollusks" and the concept of "slugs" as "small metal projectiles fired from a gun" and combines them into a single, entirely new concept.
Absolutely fantastic work here. I was one of the animators on Season 1 of this show, and it's pretty surreal seeing someone talk about it in the context of "remember this show from a long time ago!?" we really have no idea how much of an impact anything we make as animators is going to have. it's not unusual to have something pop out into the world and fade away, but knowing that 10 years down the line people are still talking about it is real satisfying *edit:* wow, i did not expect this single comment to take off this hard. Thanks again to everyone who grew up with this and expressed their appreciation. I've pointed some of my old colleagues to the video and these comments as well. As for the future of Slugterra, as of writing this the property is still well in the hands of Wildbrain Entertainment so your guess is as good as mine. They regularly upload and reupload the episodes up on their youtube page, so at least they're easily accessible for anyone that wants to rewatch and relive them
That’s super awesome, the animation work looks great and I’m glad this show has been around for a decade with a caring community! Thanks for checking out the video! 😄
You did a really amazing job with this! This show ran on the Rule of Cool and the animations played a huge part in achieving this! Only Stormhawks matched the style you came up with for Slugterra this show and I thank you for making not just a good show in Slugterra, but a great one!

Definitely a fun childhood cartoon. Loved the series since beginning until now. Just sad that I didn't have many friends that I could talk about the show. Everyone was unique, heck, even the prince of slugterra (don't remember specifically who or where but he called himself king or prince) was cool even though he wasn't really skilled like he called himself.
Slugterra reminds me a lot of Borderlands. The characters design, how they animate movement and other aspects remind a lot of Borderlands that it sits at this uncanny valley for me.
The nostalgia hit hard like a train. Slugterra is one of my favorite series of all time. There is just so much to love: Slug it Out (the original game was a masterpiece in my opinion), the relationship of the group with their slugs (SO WHOLESOME), Dr Black (an amazing antagonist as a whole), and the iconic sound effects of the slugs morphing and their visual designs. Truly one of the best series of its time, and it makes me happy to know it still holds up to this day.
In my opinion first was better, because it had more characters + more storylines + more slugs Slug It Out 2 however wasn't that good. It seemed more of a watered-down version of the original version, but with the exception of the improved storyline featuring Dr. Black's son 👍

Yeah I loved this show when it was airing on Disney XD, the whole concept of the world and slugs felt so unique and likeable. I also really liked how the show gave us a interesting world that wasn't all the same and have unique creatures other than the slugs themselves to it. Another thing I really liked is how the above world wasn't forgotten at all and there were episodes dedicated to it and how the choice of Eli's family to keep it hidden actually effected him and then exploring how Eli felt about it and what he thought was the best decision. Overall one of my favorite childhood shows
I love how the whole verse goes like Pokemon where they call the slugs by the name of what slug they are and how the MC named his slug, I just thought how that connects with Pokemon and the whole thing with Pokemon not having names
Pretty sure I've tried to draw Dr Blakk and maybe a Tazerling. Not sure about the second one, but I remember Dr Blakk because the net pattern on his suit drove me insane.
I remember there being a platformer on Disney XD's website, but I don't remember much. I remember you had a few slugs you could fire as projectiles to break things and beat up enemies and that you could swap them around but I don't remember much else
Man this is a name I haven't heard in a long time. was such a wild show to be one of the many many animatiors on this show my early days, super happy that it's still floating around out there
This show got me into drawing, several years later here I am, learning numeric art in Brussels. I have recently started rewatching the series with my gf, even after all those years it sill feels so good, and is certainly better than many recent shows
To this day I love Slugterra. I've rewatched the series on it's entirety like 3 times, and had a blast every time. Maybe it's the fact that Eli ended being fatherless just like me, who knows ... but I'll always have a good spot for Slugterra on my favorite series library (also, I think Floppers are cute)
Slugterra was a show I watch when I was like 6, I lived it so much. Then out of nowhere they took it of from Netflix and I felt like the show fell off the face of the planet, this is the only piece of content that I have saw that directly talks about it. Thank you for bring back the memories
You can watch all episodes and movies on TH-cam! It’s on the official WildBrain channel! Would recommend- it has the new mini-series too, but you may find the older ones nostalgic- excellent quality too :)
I am sad it never got finished cause there's the movie I can't remember but it's when we see Dr blacks son or cousin it's a family member and they had a really sick slug that has the same similar power as zoroark
Honestly a pretty good show. I feel like it was super enjoyable as a kid, and I bet even now as an adult I’d enjoy the show. I only wish that they had finished the show in a solid way.
I jus finished watching all of it on TH-cam it was pretty good it had reoccurring characters multiple episodes arcs , callbacks and some of jokes were really funny
Slugterra, one of my most beloved childhood shows TuT I still can't believe that after six years, we're finally getting some hope to get this show back. I really wish the new spin-off shorts guide the way to new seasons so we can FINALLY rest in peace with a finale TuT ❤️
This show was one of my favorite Jetix productions! Excellent job covering it! Eli, Kord, and Pronto all made me laugh so much. Trixie is very cute and agile as well! Burpy was also a hilarious character! Thank you for looking into this series and helping me learn more about it.
Nerd corps has produced some of my favourite shows, slugterra, storm hawks and dragon booster. They ignited my love for 3d animation and it was a dream of mine to work there. Life took me in a different direction as it does but I still have much respect for the company.
So they did created Dragon Booster, nice! Storm Hawks reminded me of Dragon booster because of the animation and when the characters talked about dragons living in the past.
@@mr.commenter395 dragon booster was one of their first series i think. and you can hear several nerd corp staple va's in it like matt hill, sam vincent and nicole sullivan
I had never seen or heard of slugterra, but somewhere along the way in college I ended up with a small figure of one of the slugs in my backpack, so thank you for explaining what the show is to me.
I loved Slugterra when I was little. It brought me comfort when there were no episodes of Pokemon or Dinosaur King anymore where i lived. It`s definetly on the list of the best cartoon series
Oh the nostalgia is setting in i absolutely love this show and it's been ages since i watched it i remember "planning" my entire day just so i could watch each episode live thank you so much for bringing back those good memories
i will always. ALWAYS remember this show- at this point it's a yearly tradition to come back to check on the show and the community who loves it, because slugterra was the first show where i joined a community fandom for
What I like the most about the series is that the slugs can Megamorph, much like Pokémon’s mega evolution but slugs have been given a boost to design and power
Slugterra was and is one of my favorite shows till now. I remember that I used to watch it on my TV excitedly, eagerly waiting for new episodes. I stopped watching it after 2015 and then started again in 2018. I forgot it for a while again and then I checked slugterra a month back, to see if it was continuing or not. To my surprise it was, in its official TH-cam channel. Honestly, it's a show I will keep coming back for, again and again, because the storyline is just so awesome and I love it.
Thank you very much, on behalf of the slugterra community, we graciously appreciate this video because of the good press it holds for us. I and many others are long time fans to this day and to see the creators keeping this series alive with the game and the new ascension series really is amazing. The fact that people are starting to talk about slugterra again is truly a wonderous sight. Thank you.
I hope that the new "Ascension" episodes lead to a well and true return of the franchise. Slugterra is a absolutely amazing franchise that needs more love, and i hope it comes back for more people to see.
I recently posted a comment on one of the voice actors Instagram posts, Junjie (Vincent Tong), and I was dumbfounded when he liked it. That show was my entire childhood. It’s nice to hear people talk about the show to this day.
Funny how Vincent Tong, Sam Vincent and Andrew Francis all voiced in this show and also in Ninjago, which the most recent 6 seasons have been animated by the same company (Wildbrain, originally called DHX Media)
i absolutely loved this show as a kid. whenever i would go to my grandparents(because they had a TV with cable) i would immediately run to the TV and started watching Slugterra
i never really thought about it at the time but the way you describe the main character, its made me realise the producers may have been inspired by the late Steve Irwin in a way. cause much like steve in a world where people came into creatures habitats and used, abused, and killed them for their own benefit he came in and showed everyone that both the people and the animals can thrive if you just learn to show them a little love and respect. i was a massive fan of steve growing up and i guess subconsiously that might have been one of the reasons i loved slugterra so much. cause like you said, unlike almost every other programs who just left it as "well this is how this world works accept it or leave" they actually talked about it and had the MC asking "but why is it this way tho?"
Any show that revolves around creature collecting has always been a win for me, that’s why I loved Slugterra, that and the awesome opening song and how cute the slugs were.
This show was one of my favorite things to watch! The concept of the show was always so cool to me and the animation was so well done! Definitely brought back memories
Seeing this video in my recommendations brought a bunch of nostalgia my way. I used to BINGE Slugterra with my dad when I was younger. He'd even let me stay up past my bedtime just to watch it with him. It was our little Father Daughter thing 💖
This was one of the best shows of my childhood. It was absolutely the coolest shit. I still name all of my fire type starter Pokémon burpy to this day.
This show will always be in my memories for one major fact: Eli names all his slugs. Ash Ketchup could n e v e r Also I'm very convinced that the slugs were inspired by nudibranchs it just hit me as I learnt about them this year and watching this video and seeing the slugs reminded me of them
lets also not forget the fact he actually questioned the way they were treated to. Ash just accepts thats the way his world is and exploits it to his benefit. Eli actually was like "nah screw this, we should be showing these little balls of greatness some god damn respect, maybe then theyd let us see thier full potential"
Slugterra used to be my childhood back then, I rewatched every season for like 3 times but im sad that it didnt get anymore seasons, I forgot about the show after a few years and all the memories are coming back
This made me basically rewatch all of the episodes up till 2016, sad that the main story never got a conclusion, but otherwise its amazinggggg, and Im glad I got to watch it again
Hey man! Thanks for informing me about the fact that Slugterra is available on TH-cam and also the new shorts series. It brings back all my childhood memories. I enjoyed this show a lot.
You don’t know how much i wanted to rewatch this and now knowing they rolling more content out of it i’m damn right i’ll spend the next weekend watching it all
Of course i remember slugterra This show was literally my LIFE when i was 11 So to summarise i loved to draw and i loved collecting genres, pokemon and digimon and of course slugterra And so i made a small 'slugdex' using my school notebook and just drew all the slugs and their velocimorph forms on there It was my proudest piece of work as i would go on to treasure that book even after i got into high school And looking back at it now im still very proud of it. Slugterra was a big part of my childhood to say the least.
DUDE, I'VE BEEN TRYING TO REMEMBER THIS SHOW FOR SO LONG. I looked for a show but all I could bring from my memory was that there were little pets and they had powers and it was in an underground world, seriously, thank you for solving a big mystery from my childhood. Now I'm going to watch it.
My favorite part of this series is the art. I love the design and why I love games like Borderlands. Love the use of outlines and "painted" 3D characters. Reminds me a lot of how Liquid, the comic book illustrator company, would paint comic books.
First things first! I did not know that it was still ongoing in the form of shorts and I did not know about the continuing adding of various app games. Second I fell in love with this series on Netflix and I kept on rooting for more episodes but the last special that I saw had kept me on edge because I wanted to know more and I wanted to see the other different realms. I hope in the future if Slugterra is still alive as you say that we will see the other different Realms as well. Because me and my friends have been binge watching this series every Monday so that I can get them into it and they've already fallen in love with the series as well. I just look forward to telling them about this news that the series is still alive in a smaller way
Before even watching this. Thank you. This show was one of the few things I would sit down and watch with my old man and this was a nice reminder of some good times.
I completely forgot this existed and it but the absolute wave of nostalgia hit me like a truck. honestly though thank you for covering these shows I forgot existed.
I went back and rewatched it recently, and I expected my memory of it to be a lot better than it actually is. I was pleasantly surprised by the planning of the big-picture narrative, with a lot of foreshadowing appearing very early in the series.

Overall one of my favorite childhood shows
Slugs launching off the gun was one of the coolest sound effects in cartoon history.
@@armaanb.6566 💯
I love how the whole verse goes like Pokemon where they call the slugs by the name of what slug they are and how the MC named his slug, I just thought how that connects with Pokemon and the whole thing with Pokemon not having names
Same
I REMEMBER THIS SERIES. I loved watching it with my dad as a kid, thank you for bringing back so much good memories.
Honestly, the franchise really has aged amazingly well
Bro I would get up 6:00 JUST WAITING TO WATCH IT WAS SO GOOOD EVEN WHEN THE BROUGHT LIKE ULTIMATE SLUGS IT WAS EVEN BETTER
I remember being obsessed with this show when I was 7. Still have many old drawings stored up.
Pretty sure I've tried to draw Dr Blakk and maybe a Tazerling. Not sure about the second one, but I remember Dr Blakk because the net pattern on his suit drove me insane.
I vaguely remember this show. This sounds like it would make a cool action-puzzle RPG
Well it kind of did on mobile, but that was more of a match 3 game.
I remember a flash game about it, that was similar to an adventure open world game.
@@RetroRulzMyTown there used to be a slug terra game called black water or something and it was everything I wanted from a slug terra game
I remember there being a platformer on Disney XD's website, but I don't remember much. I remember you had a few slugs you could fire as projectiles to break things and beat up enemies and that you could swap them around but I don't remember much else
@@JosueHernandez-nu5cp you can still play it. It's called Battle for Slugterra. I use Flash Point to run it.
I’m 18 almost 19 now and I’m rewatching it for the 2nd time. It’s so thrilling and honestly written really well.
Man this is a name I haven't heard in a long time. was such a wild show to be one of the many many animatiors on this show my early days, super happy that it's still floating around out there
Loved the show as a kid man it brought me and friends so many memories. Great work!!
Just unlocked a childhood memory, Jordan bringing my childhood back one video at a time
Also unlocked a childhood memory for me. It's wild how long it's been.
This show got me into drawing, several years later here I am, learning numeric art in Brussels. I have recently started rewatching the series with my gf, even after all those years it sill feels so good, and is certainly better than many recent shows
Me too. Pure nostalgia
where can you watch it?
Yeah im wondering that myself I wanna watch it but idk where? ^
@@pandamoniumpm5350 TH-cam. I think there's a channel where you can find it
Loved this show growing up, it really deserved better. I'd love to see a remake/remaster or entirely new story
To this day I love Slugterra. I've rewatched the series on it's entirety like 3 times, and had a blast every time. Maybe it's the fact that Eli ended being fatherless just like me, who knows ... but I'll always have a good spot for Slugterra on my favorite series library (also, I think Floppers are cute)
floppers are adorable!
This series is honestly incredible!! And literally one of my childhood shows
I am sad it never got finished cause there's the movie I can't remember but it's when we see Dr blacks son or cousin it's a family member and they had a really sick slug that has the same similar power as zoroark
@@eagleangel5568 I really hate cliffhangers!
I can't count how many times I rewatched
Slugterra 😅 I'm happy that they are still releasing new episodes
Are they really making new episodes??? I thought that it got canceled
@@banana_dash2777 they probably meant the spinoff shorts that were mentioned in the video
REAAALLY???? AWESOMEEE
Wait since when they are making new episodes I thought it was over after blacks defeat
Bro what? New episodes?? Yess??? Speakk???pls???
I loved this show. Big part of my childhood. Still play the games and watch some clips here and there.
Watch the new episodes they’re weekly
@@UltimateSpinjitzuDestroyer new Ascension episodes are shit
@@Narwhyn I mean, they dont have a proper budget so you cant get so mad at them. Be grateful we actually are getting new episodes.
Slugterra, one of my most beloved childhood shows TuT
I still can't believe that after six years, we're finally getting some hope to get this show back.
Nerd Corps also made League of Super Evil, and Lee Tockar was also in it as Doktor Frogg.
DRAGON BOOSTER! Fuck, that's a name I haven't heard in a LONG time, that was the SHIT back in 09 for me!
As a Canadian I am proud of you for showing off this amazing show
man, I watched it again during the pandemic, it's a really great series. thanks for covering it
Thanks for watching!
Slugterra has influenced my story telling and art. I pledge that someday the show will make a big comeback someday.
I had never seen or heard of slugterra, but somewhere along the way in college I ended up with a small figure of one of the slugs in my backpack, so thank you for explaining what the show is to me.
I always thought this show was so cool! So glad you’re doing a video on it
I loved Slugterra when I was little. It brought me comfort when there were no episodes of Pokemon or Dinosaur King anymore where i lived. It`s definetly on the list of the best cartoon series
Finally, a Dinosaur King lover. I miss that show so much.
Dinosaur king was neat
Oh the nostalgia is setting in i absolutely love this show and it's been ages since i watched it i remember "planning" my entire day just so i could watch each episode live thank you so much for bringing back those good memories
i will always. ALWAYS remember this show- at this point it's a yearly tradition to come back to check on the show and the community who loves it, because slugterra was the first show where i joined a community fandom for
What I like the most about the series is that the slugs can Megamorph, much like Pokémon’s mega evolution but slugs have been given a boost to design and power
Imagine a *boost* to Megamorph, a *Hipermorph* when slug enter another 100km/h! a *300 kms/h!*
@@wyslanniknewworldorder9525 I bet they would replace the white stripes with rainbow stripes, and the ghouls would have red markings all over its body
Slugterra is still one of my most favorite series and I can never forget it. The good old days.
Slugterra is a prime example of even a weird concept can be amazing when executed well love this show
Thank you very much, on behalf of the slugterra community, we graciously appreciate this video because of the good press it holds for us. I and many others are long time fans to this day and to see the creators keeping this series alive with the game and the new ascension series really is amazing. The fact that people are starting to talk about slugterra again is truly a wonderous sight. Thank you.
This show got me hyped each episode.
You never disappoint bro
I hope that the new "Ascension" episodes lead to a well and true return of the franchise. Slugterra is a absolutely amazing franchise that needs more love, and i hope it comes back for more people to see.
I really hope so too, but with none of the original VAs coming back for Ascension idk how likely that is
Ascension sucks, the youtube spinoff series ruined the Slugs designs
@@curious5887 shut up
@@antonye3400 it's actually you who should shut up, Ascension sucks as a spin-off series, i mean, they changed the slug design
@@curious5887 it is not a spinoff. it is made by the official creators. atleast they are trying this much even though they have less funds.
This gives me memories of watching at a young age, now wanting to watch the whole show again
I'm an adult and I have no shame in saying this is a fantastic show, I just watched it over and over again, so good.
Wow, JUST when I was checking back on the series itself, THIS pops up. Its amazing when coincidences line up, I was OBSESSED with Slugterra.
I grew up watching the show but you just introduced me to the fact that they have games and mini series that i could explore. Thanks man
I recently posted a comment on one of the voice actors Instagram posts, Junjie (Vincent Tong), and I was dumbfounded when he liked it.
CHILDHOOD
I was so obsessed with this show for a while,I wanted to live there, happy to see you talk about it!
i never really thought about it at the time but the way you describe the main character, its made me realise the producers may have been inspired by the late Steve Irwin in a way. cause much like steve in a world where people came into creatures habitats and used, abused, and killed them for their own benefit he came in and showed everyone that both the people and the animals can thrive if you just learn to show them a little love and respect. i was a massive fan of steve growing up and i guess subconsiously that might have been one of the reasons i loved slugterra so much. cause like you said, unlike almost every other programs who just left it as "well this is how this world works accept it or leave" they actually talked about it and had the MC asking "but why is it this way tho?"
Slugterra is the only show i can confidently call a masterpiece, no mistakes. Hats off to the creators & directors
This was one of the best shows of my childhood. It was absolutely the coolest shit. I still name all of my fire type starter Pokémon burpy to this day.
This show will always be in my memories for one major fact: Eli names all his slugs.
Ash Ketchup could n e v e r
Also I'm very convinced that the slugs were inspired by nudibranchs it just hit me as I learnt about them this year and watching this video and seeing the slugs reminded me of them
lets also not forget the fact he actually questioned the way they were treated to. Ash just accepts thats the way his world is and exploits it to his benefit. Eli actually was like "nah screw this, we should be showing these little balls of greatness some god damn respect, maybe then theyd let us see thier full potential"
more like ash had something of ben too
Slugterra used to be my childhood back then, I rewatched every season for like 3 times but im sad that it didnt get anymore seasons, I forgot about the show after a few years and all the memories are coming back
This made me basically rewatch all of the episodes up till 2016, sad that the main story never got a conclusion, but otherwise its amazinggggg, and Im glad I got to watch it again
Man this show is not only a part of my child hood but also my life
Hey man! Thanks for informing me about the fact that Slugterra is available on TH-cam and also the new shorts series. It brings back all my childhood memories. I enjoyed this show a lot.
Dude, I freaking *LOVED* this show as a kid!! The art style, the fight scene animations, EVERYTHING!! Especially the fight scenes, though.
You don’t know how much i wanted to rewatch this and now knowing they rolling more content out of it i’m damn right i’ll spend the next weekend watching it all
Of course i remember slugterra
This show was literally my LIFE when i was 11
So to summarise i loved to draw and i loved collecting genres, pokemon and digimon and of course slugterra
And so i made a small 'slugdex' using my school notebook and just drew all the slugs and their velocimorph forms on there
It was my proudest piece of work as i would go on to treasure that book even after i got into high school
And looking back at it now im still very proud of it.
Man, you're really consist at putting out content. It feels like every other day you have a video ready!
Monday Wednesday Friday and then every day from December 1st-25th
@@JordanFringe94 oh right the series that introduced me to your channel I finally get to watch it when it's coming out
My favorite part of this series is the art. I love the design and why I love games like Borderlands. Love the use of outlines and "painted" 3D characters. Reminds me a lot of how Liquid, the comic book illustrator company, would paint comic books.
Thank you for finally covering this show!!! I’m constantly going back and find ways to rewatch this series!!
I just look forward to telling them about this news that the series is still alive in a smaller way
Man i thought people are gonna forget about this unique series thanks man.
slugterra was one of if not my favourite show when i was a kid and even now i rewatch them once every year
I remember watching one or two episodes of this on TV then finding the whole series on TH-cam. Such a wild and interesting world they created
Before even watching this. Thank you. This show was one of the few things I would sit down and watch with my old man and this was a nice reminder of some good times.
Me and my older brother loved Slugterra growing up. Another timeless classic.
This dude keeps breaking into my childhood to get ideas
I completely forgot this existed and it but the absolute wave of nostalgia hit me like a truck.
honestly though thank you for covering these shows I forgot existed.
I genuinely loved this show when I was a kid! It was so goofy and amazing!
I went back and rewatched it recently, and I expected my memory of it to be a lot better than it actually is. I was pleasantly surprised by the planning of the big-picture narrative, with a lot of foreshadowing appearing very early in the series.
I was obsessed with this show as a kid. I remember using my nerf blaster as a slug slinger, aaah good times
