- A big tie in for cards games is having a cartoon show closely or loosely come with it, and that's no different for Chaotic. Chaotic however while still have plots and parts of that story that don't have anything to do with the Chaotic card game, it worked pretty hard to show off the card game in the show and do it as accurate as possible. Let's take a look into what Chaotic was all about and its possible future.

I remember watching it ages ago, the show's name in Arabic was "The world of Chaos" which sounded mega cool.
And for some reason the English spelling was Chaotix/Chaotics instead of Chaotic.
I really think Chaotic would succeed if it came out again; the concept of turning INTO the monsters really helped it stand out from the other card games

Agreed. Especially with VRchat, Vtubing, and the appeal of turning into an “avatar” or just wanting to become a non-human species (looking at you, furries) is growing in popularity in recent years.

Never will happen. The only successful shows were Bakugan, Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon. Digimon did make cards too and you can still buy them but not as popular. YuGiOH will always be the giant. Still waiting for someone to make a successful magic the gathering show though.

The coolest thing about Chaotic, for me, was how the strategies shown were usually pretty sound or usable in the actual (as in irl) game! It made the show actually sell me on the card game, as opposed to just being a show I liked with a card game
The idea of YOU having to go into the wild as your "starter" monster card in order to defeat, scan and therefore obtain others to your arsenal is very very cool imo, I was really into the show at the time.
Though I seem to remember I got a little frustrated as kid bc the MC would scan awesome creatures all the time but would almost always use the same main creature anyway lol.
I really liked how they could scan a creature who just used some sort of buff or mugic and end up with a better stat creature, like wise the time when tangeth was sick with a cold and had lower stats. Really made the world feel alive and gave the creatures personality and agendas. All the story arcs were amazing.
One aspect I really like about peyton's character is that while he is clearly based on the "michelangelo" archetype that don't just make him the stupid one, which happens a lot with that archetype, he seems to be the most experienced regarding the chaotic world and uses his personality to befriend many players and creatures in the world, it's a refreshing change of pace
And a good example of his intellect, was how he figured out a way to stop the "Allmegeddon" attack (a move that was a literal one shot against everything, and every player was trying to figure out how beat it), by using his knowledge of gear and locations to counteract it, showing that even the most powerful of attacks can still have a weakness in the game.
Though there are times where he’s clueless which can get him in trouble (such as at the end of the episode Buggin About, he goes to the Damians base to scan some armor, only to get captured).
The best part of the show was if you had a tv that could pause, you were able to use the codes on the screen for the online game.
I remember loving the show as a kid, it really felt like they knew how to incorporate the game and story in a way that didn't compromise either.

I would’ve wanted more episodes focusing on the mystery behind the code masters and how they came to be!…. Are they like basically the iT staff at the Chaotic domain??? How in the heck were they able to get involved with basically mixing algorithms with what is essentially digitized bio organic chemical engineering mixed with programming digits???
Anyone else wondering how it’s even possible for what happens when, transforming into seemingly fictional icons that are otherwise not fictional; but, real life organic beings somehow being replicated through digital programming???
I solemnly sear to god that this could’ve made for a great video game also!… Combine that with a chaotic character creation tool art similar to Dragon Ball Xenoverse or even Dragon Ball The Breakers’ character creation set piece collection and I promise you.
The real challenge would be animating how every anthropomorphic creature you scan and play as, maneuver their way over terrain or other landscapes when searching for your opponent to fight while also dodging attacks!…..
I mean I was stoked at such an amazing prospect!…..
Imagine doing that 1 hundred and 1 VS 1 hundred and 1 type face off like Tom did with that “Peyton” fellow I think his name is???

I got to link this to my brother. This was his favorite show as a little kid and he still has (In a safe box in storage) a small collection of decks and cards he collected over the years. I bet this will really make him happy

They really need to make a video game that has the jist of the show.
Open world scanning (maybe with area-level scaling) of heroes, locations, battlegear and mugics and hero shooter-like combat for the fights themselves with the straregic placement and decks from the show.
Plus, the world itself and the different factions and characters are really solid so any project taking place in that world would be welcome, especially a game of this kind.

I distinctively remember parts of this show, since I used to watch a ton of 4kids whenever I was over at my uncle's place. Like I can't remember anything about the plot, but seeing certain things like the map selection of all things hits me with an undescribable wave of nostalgia.
You've covered so many shows I've loved for years now. Seeing you even bring them up makes me so happy, you have no idea. These shows have just kinda been my thing for so long, never really had anyone to share them with. Thank you for this series. It's a great service to us all sir.

I have been waiting for this episode! Chaotic was my childhood, I collected the cards and was always playing online after I get home from school (and I mean back when the website had first launched, bugs and all lol) I am hopeful and praying the show gets its revival cause there is so much potential in this IP returning
I had some of the chaotic cards as a kid, but I completely forgot there was a show.
I love this show so much! The cool concept of like this different world, fighting as the monsters in an arena while once while you go into those worlds where those monsters come from is just so cool!

@@michaelnelson1127 one where two of the protagonists were in a cave looking for some huge menacing dark dragon-like monster to scan it for their game, and when they found him he was all chill and was like “Ok, scan me.”
And another scene where the main guy went into a very uphill duel with someone else where he played as a weak monster with very sensitive hearing while the enemy played as a stronger monster with a super loud voice, and they chose some quiet easily-echoing location for the duel, and somehow the main guy won
@@justsomefox8910 Okay, I think the first one is where they were trying to scan Aokwa so Kaz could prove to the school principal that Chaotic is real and he’s not crazy. For the second one, I was just thinking about this one the other day: that’s the final battle between Peyton as Hearring and Eddie X as Screamer in the Crypt of Eternal Echoes. Peyton barely pulls out a win, earning him respect from his favorite musician and backstage passes to his next concert.

I loved Chaotic as a kid, I loved the monster world setting, I LOVED that you went out to scan monsters to get a larger arsenal of monsters, and I LLLLOOOVED that the characters turned into the monsters (whose art design is actually really cool imo) and then fought each other in matches with them!
I was pretty sad when it fizzled out.
I actually missed this series. I always wanted to play the game, (we were dirt poor) and I been wanting to see you review this series for some time. I legit forgot the name and now I am satisfied that I now know. Thanks man.

one of the best TCG/show combinations from back then imo and deserves the comeback modern treatment - yugioh, chaotic, and redakai all hold special places in my heart cause they all felt very unique in their aspects whether lore n backstory w yugioh, or creativity and innovating ideas w choatic, or really really cool card designs and concepts w redakai (not to say that all of these shows don't have all of these aspects, maybe redakai less cause I mostly enjoyed their TCG) but god do i wish chaotic could've continued. I loved the show, loved the online game, and will always love the concept
Loved this show! It came in clutch when my cable was cut off!!
My favorite episode was when they used the boys vs girls cliche and actually executed it well.
The boy player using female creatures, an the girl player using male creatures.
All this accomplished was creating further confusion for everyone, and I love it

My only strong memory of this show is that there was 1 episode focused around the War Beast Blazvatan, and then, shortly after watching it, I pulled an Ultra Rare holographic Blazvatan card and freaked out. That lizard race very quickly became my favorite after that lol
I have a huge love for this show and it’s incredibly odd but lovable animation style.

This reminds me so much of Redakai with how the characters can transform into the monsters. Will there be a video on Redakai in the near future someday? It was a part of my childhood.
Bro honestly thanks so much I’ve been trying to remember Redakai for the longest time I had some of the cards a while back and was trying to remember what they were from hadn’t had any luck finding the cards so you saying the name helped so much 😂😂😂
I was really into this show when it was broadcast, and I hope for a full reboot to give people who were never able to get into the card game a fresh start and a chance to join
Something that really stuck with me about this show was that the quality of the scan of a creature depended on how that was in that exact moment.
The idea that sneaking a quick picc of someone while they were unaware or in a weakened state would have lesser returns than earning the trust of the creature and gaining their permission for a scan was really cool to me as a kid.
Add on to the idea no one faction was morally perfect gave me enough justification as to why the characters would want to interact and support their preferred tribes.
Still one of my fav shows / game tbh shadow warriors was really really fun....they did say there are many hints that they will make a new season due to selling & buying to a new company I've seen the developers said somethin about it
I loved this show. It would be so cool to become a creature and fight! I'd especially want to become ones that can fly or breath under water, and just have fun instead of battle.

I was and still am a fan of Chaotic, though maybe not as big a fan as many others. I used to play the game online a lot, but I was never good at it. Started making my way through the show again at some point. The full series is on Chaotic's official TH-cam channel.
I liked that this show wasnt afraid to show you how the world itself works (kinda), there was a whole B-plot of the chubby character trying to beat his appetite by gorging himself the whole episode long in the virtual world to the point of sickness, the episode ends with him nearly barfing and leaving the game and immediately feeling hungry again in the real world. a fun way to answer some questions about the universe without showing you everything
Indeed. That episode showed that the only true connection between the dimensions outside the game were memories.
This was one of my favorite 4kids shows back in the day. It was an interesting concept for a card game show that utilizes characters turning into the monsters themselves and even inheriting their memories as well. Jason Griffin did a great job voice Tom!~ 😃
I do! I was looking for this show for years!! And I remember spending hours on that ds game when I was a kid. It was a really good game. Never could find any of the cards when I was a kid tho. Amazing video man! Thanks for awakening some lost childhood memories

What feels magical about remembering shows that I had forgotten, is hearing the sounds or theme and feeling you brain get all excited, almost like it's saying "DUDE!! I remember this!". With this show in particular, you didn't put any of the sounds in the video, but I could hear them in my mind.

I only watched season one as a kid with old art style and now when i saw the style they used in season 2 and 3 i immediately remembered redakai which was buried in my memories untill now and as nostalgic to me as chaotic are we gonna get a video about it maybe some day??
Iam glad someone mentioned redakai under a chaotic video i thought i was the only one who had these two shows tied together in my brain i even confused them with each as a kid due to the many similarities would be great to get a redakai video from Jordan too

I mostly remember the transformation sequences (because they were cool as hell) and the "isekai" concept because those were such awesome concepts! I remember basically nothing else. Totally forgot they actively played the card game in the show, and I respect how well they made the rules work in the game and the show the same way. It was easy to follow, even for someone who sucks at following game rules like me. I don't play, but I respect how easy they made it for kids who'd like to!
I agree that the old animation was unique and what I first remember being associated with the show, but the newer one was easier on my eyes with all the colors they're using (the line art helps SO much). I would also choose the second one in a blind preference test, however. Their company did Magi-Nation, for those of you who thought it was freakishly familiar!
Throughout my life this show has popped in and out of my brain, Thanks to this video I started watching the TV show again and now my 6 year old daughter is obsessed with chaotic… we now watch it together and I hope to buy some cards (if we can even get some) so we can play together
Their TCG tins you could buy in-store were just the best thing ever too - as someone who played yugioh and Pokemon. It was shaped and coloured as the different scanners you would see in the show (based on the five tribes) and then the tin would be able to be separated into two different parts. The top "scanner" part would be able to house your deck and the bottom would be just storage of old cards or playing mats. Peak design. It's probably why I still have all of my old chaotic TCG stuff than Pokemon.

I would definitely be on board for a revival of the series. I picked up a whole display box of structure decks for the card game at a thrift store several years back and had fun with the ones my friend and I opened.

this show is the reason i can't sleep anymore i used to think this shit was so cool when i was growing up i used to have to stay up until 3 am to watch it
The decision was kind of made for me to not get into Chaotic. When this series first came out and McDonald's was giving cards away as their happy meal toys, I remember my mom looked at the cards I got, rolled her eyes and went 'Oh god, please don't tell me you're going to get into ANOTHER card game that's going to clutter up my house'. Seeing as I was already into Pokemon, Yugioh and Digimon cards, I made it a point not to press my luck, haha.
Yeah... that was the same for me, though it was just Pokemon and Yugioh for me. I remember at one point, I had over a thousand cards for both games
Briefly remembered it and had a rewatch of chaotic a month or two ago, loved the show as a kid. Even had some cards. Probably have them somewhere in a box in the basement
I forgot about this show until this video popped in my recommended, I would love a revival of the series.
One of my favorite plotlines were the players who were scanning rare locations and then using Parem battle gear to destroy the location to make it permanently rare.

Great video. I do hope it gets revived one day but I'm not getting my hopes up. While I don't think it would be profitable to do, the technology is there to make a VR version where you could transform into some of the creatures and battle it out. I can't see it ever happening but it's cool to think it's technically possible to replicate the show.
Ive got a lot of the cards for this game because it was lost in time and many shops had to remove their inventory ... if it does get revived I would be honored to support while also making money off the new fans. Dreaming of the ability to do voice work for them. PS: you can find the entire show on youtube to watch.

Man I absolutely loved Chaotic! I was legit mad when it fade into obscurity, and I didn't knew why! love how they tackled the travel to digital world thing and the card collection it was a really fun show, but man those monsters, some where absolutely cool as hell... and some where really hot haha.
I really hope if the show gets picked back up they just continue from where they left off, the original show was already so good and had so many great plot points set up.
I loved watching and playing Chaotic alongside the big 3. I played their card game on their PC platform and fell in love. I was hurt when I tried to log in and found out they had canceled their game.
I used to collect Chaotic card because the show and character designs were so good, definitely stood out for its time. I could see the show and card game becoming bigger if it stayed relevant without the radio silence. I really like the magic music cards, Mugic as a concept, I just imagine the strongest being in existence is a Bard that uses a lute as their weapon.
I think this is the first video from this channel I've seen that TH-cam deemed it would actually be smart and put the ads in the built-in ad breaks... xD
I loved the game cartoon network made for this ages ago. You could go to the different locations from the show and "hunt" for scans much like in the show. Cards also came with codes to unlock them to play online as well.

I'd be willing too give Chaotix another chance. Pretty sure it was the show I watched only because it was animated on Saturday when I was a kid probably to get to Sonic X a show I did like a lot and still watch to this day. At first I was confused because I did watch the show a little growing up and remembered it looked more anime-esque and then you told me they changed animation styles.
I’ve been going through a cycle these past few years where I forget about it, then remember.
I think my favorite way the one where Payton fought that rocker dude. The battle was pretty goofy, but the concept was actually pretty interesting. They really could throw in a splash of strategy, just enough for the explosions to keep you invested past all the bullshit :P

I miss this card game and I wish I collected more of the cards and the game needed more recognition it was so unique in its playstyle literally dungeons and dragons as a card game since the start of battles had initiative checks
I love Chaotic. It was such a cool idea and setting back in the day. I hoped it caught on but the website being shitty didn't help it any. Now is the perfect time for a reboot, especially in the age of smart phones. Perfect game for an app

This and Martin Mystery are so underrated. It's a small thing, but I like how the main female lead specialised in bug monsters. I can't remember what they were called Damien's? Anyway usually the female character just happens to also use female monsters. It's nice that they switched it up.

Didn't even know about this show getting a season 2 and having the animation change, and it looks better honestly. 100% would be down for a relaunch of the show+card game
This show was so ahead of it's time:
1. Pushing for the online game
2. The anime basically is similar to pokemon go in away
3. Cool art work, story and freaky monsters
I literally just watched this and was like ‘holy shit this is it’ because some legend on reddit immediately named the show after i posted about trying to find it, i was looking for a literal decade and this mf posts the right answer in less than 10 minutes
I just rewatch the series on TH-cam an it was entertaining...very interesting characters an plotline...maybe a little ahead of it's time but still I remember watching it during Saturday cartoons...I would like to see a revival now in these times since it makes more sense using the phone device an being in a digital world but keep it mature and still keep the child like awe about it...
God damn for the longest time I thought this show was just a fever dream I had, not to mention the animation style change got me to hate it as a dumb lil 12 year old but now I’m appreciating it alot
