    UPDATE 1/20/18: Sorry everyone. Ok. Here's an update. A drunk driver smashed into the Avalanche with my family in it. Luckily everyone walked away but the Avalanche was totaled. As far as the Line-X. It was on for 2.5 years with no fading or peeling. As long as they do the prep right, it should be good. It's a no brainer on this kind of stuff or cladding. I paid about 450.

    Not impressed by the coverage. It shouldn't have stripes in the finish.

    I have a 2002 Avalanche Z66 loaded ( The first one) and I have owned it for 17 years since I left the lot on March 15th, 2002 in Pompano Beach Florida. I have tried everything from Armorall to Son of a Gun, now I use Wipe New on the exterior plastic and it does the best job for about 4-6 months & do it again when it fades the cost is about 20 bucks at home depot. I have replaced the 4 headlamps for a cost of about 80 bucks, The truck looks new, has 122K on the odometer it's red and I get offers all the time to buy it. I love this truck and promised my granddaughter she could have it when she gets her license in 2022. Meantime it sits in the garage and looks great, a classic for sure. Replaced the rotors at 115K & had new calipers & pads with the service in 2017. BTW the oil has been changed every 6 months and it usually has about 900 miles on the oil. It has the 5.3 ltr & has never had a tune up as of today March 18, 2019, but changed all the fluids at 78K trans, differential and brakes. Last year I did put a Bull Bar on the front with some fog lamp LEDS, best-looking ride in town.

    I never thought I’ll be the one saying this, but I’m a painter spray man over 20 years used airless, conventional, hvlp, electrostatic, done it seen it all, brother you’re a good painter don’t push these products, it makes your work look like garbage

    I see this video is 7 years old, but what would a job like this cost today? Also a bit of advice. I discovered the 3 piece covers that you sprayed water soaks into them around the factory weatherstripping. If you spray more of these don’t mask over the edge of the weatherstrips so you can seal them up.

    The stripes are not the product, but the applicator. And bulldog doesn't make anything stick to chrome. Chrome doesn't scratch enough for proper adhesion. Plastidip would have been a cheaper option. At least when it peels, you won't be ass angry.

    Why shoot and post a vid like this and not stay active and answer questions ... Line-X probably doesn't work or hold up. I could see areas on the truck that looked uneven, maybe the lighting and camera but ... I'm taking mine to a really good shop in my area in the spring to have my front end painted and to see what can be done about the plastic.

    • @edgartex9853
      @edgartex9853 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      paulseyes come back with an update. Been thinking about doing the same thing. I think where the spray looked uneven is really just the texture being weird.

    you could just buy a heat gun and go over all the plastic. Heat untill the natural oils come to the surface. Back to brand new.

    • @4paulseyes

      and a few months after your plastic will become even worse and start cracking.

    For those of you not being able to find line x - Use a HEAT GUN to restore the oil on the plastic.. it's the only thing that last. You will be impressed, you can do it yourself. It takes 2 or 3 hours to do the entire truck but it's so worth it. There are several youtube videos on it.

      I wouldn't have it sprayed only on one side unless it won't clip on properly when sprayed inside and out of cladding. I guess if it doesn't I'll sand back where needed.
