I use this product twice a year on my avalanche Only product that has Worked for me. And it’s only $10 It’s dirt cheap Compared to other products That don’t even come close to this product results
You just answered my question on how often irs gotta be used. Thank you. Now do you wipe it down later to remove any oily film? If so does it work to keep from attracting dirt dust and crap ?
This has been my go to for restoring the plastic on my Avalanche since I first got it in March of 2020. It's easier just to give you truck a good washing. And don't worry about the panels. I weigh about 200 pounds, and I can stand on them, though I usually take them off to do the top. Motthers Back To Black is also a very good product. Don't even try Armor All. It won't work. It's like putting water on it. And don't forget to put something on the rubber seals on the panels, and if you have the sunroof, do them also. It keeps them from drying out and leaking. You can use Armor All on them. Thanks for the video! Great information.
Not as well as I had hoped, when you put it side by side like this it is more dramatic then when doing it and it is a lot of work for a fairly temporary result. I ended up using a heat gun to recondition it and it was a lot of work, but worked really well and stayed long enough for me to trade it for an E350 Mercedes I was still driving until a deer shortened it's life a few weeks ago.@@Mxniac28
I tried some of this stuff but only lasted a couple of months. I said heck with that and started using KIWI Black liquid shoe polish and I did not have to polish it or anything. when I would get just a little bit on the paint it would wipe off very, very easy with a paper towel or rag. I did all the black areas with one bottle of the shoe polish and had some left over. The KIWI Black shoe polish was just a little bit over $4 at Walmart. It has been on for over 3 months and still doesn't need another application yet. I can't guarantee it will suit your needs, but it sure works great for my 2004 Avalanche.
You should try Car System Restorer. You'll never use anything else. A $32 can will last for many applications. Your plastic will look like new for a year or more. I'm not paid by anyone. It just works perfectly.
Thanks for the tip however,, painting with the proper paint is possible and that paint is plastic bumper trim paint..Suggestion, next time when restoring the cover do like mopping a floor and work your way to the outsides from the inside, much easier to access.
Gonna be buying this stuff for my avalanche just to see how it works. Some people say it does or does not. I mean either way, no matter if it's cheap or something better, I'm sure it's 50/50 either way.
Best stuff I found I usually got put 3 applications on to get it black, then every month I just buy a 5 dollar tire shine foam spray can, keeps it fresh
Ive been using the Maguires since I cant find the Woody's anymore and I don't think its that good! Takes way more scrubbing and doesn't last as long. Glad you all had good results maybe forthe first time but subsuquent aplications don't workasgood.
Hahaha as an avalanche owner there are two colors of cladding light grey and dark grey but never straight black. The dark grey almost looked black as I'll admit, but when these people who put the dyed black restoration products on start to wear off it looks terrible and blotchy. Heat guns wreck the texture appearance and make the plastics more brittle over time..there is unfortunately no permanent restore product. I like mothers back to black that's safe for all colors of plastics, very similar to meguiars and depending the severity more than one application will be needed. If you do have black trims the dyed stuff will be ok. The most important thing I've found for my cladding is to clean it thoroughly with a stiff scrub brush like a deck scrub and dawn dish soap. Dont use regular wax enhanced car soaps for this process it is a cause in discoloration of trims and plastics. Also these products dont apply well in direct sunlight or after the plastics have baked in the sun all day and let them cure before adding another coat or getting wet. I like to do my trims and plastics first then I can do the painted surfaces and not be like i just got that on my freshly cleaned fender. Once the products cure they dont wash off easily and soaps and water should bead off.
I whole heartedly agree! I also use Mothers Back to Black on mine. It works great! Took two applications when I first got the Avalanche in March of 2020, but it holds up well for several months.
I've had my Avalanche since March of 2020. I have used only one bottle on mine, and I have just started on my second bottle. It will last for several months, depending on how often you wash your truck, and how often it rains. I guess that would depend on your location. Also, I think that in the SW US, it would get more sun, and need to be applied a little more often. Mine seems to hold up for about 4-6 months. Both products do not contain any coloring or dyes. They just renew the finish. They will work on any black trim on your vehicle.
Once it has had time to set or cure, you can wash your vehicle, and it will be fine. It will not attract dirt and dust, anymore than the rest of your vehicle. No greasy residue left behind. If you can apply it in the morning, let it sit all day in the sun, and you can then wash it. That will get rid of any left over residue. I noticed that after I did mine for the first time, with Mothers, it rained, and I could see where the residue had run down the sides of the truck.
@@pg1171 thanks for the input. Greatly appreciate it. This is an 80 year old friends truck hes had since new. It looks great except for the faded plastic and the plastic that actually encases the rear windshield. Hes never removed ut or opened the cab access but i noticed some water stains on the inside and found the plastic attached to the perimeter of the actual glass was broken on the bottom left about 4" from the corner and the upper right about the same distance from the corner. I looked for a replacement piece but didnt have any luck. If you or anyone knows if that piece is available please let me know. I dont want to replace the rear windshield if i can keep from it. Yes you can. It's actually easier than rubbing the plastic down later, and you get a clean truck out of it! Also, Mothers Back To Black works just as well. I usually use that on mine.
Bondo brand of Back to Black (Walmart) $!0.00, works better, lasts longer. I use garage, but have not had to redo the black plastic in a least four years.

Daniel, You need to review your videos before making them public.
