Wow thank you! This was exactly it. My 2007 Hyundai Elantra (150k miles) had a rough idle. I was getting evap code so I replaced the purge valve since I was pretty sure it wasn’t the gas cap. After replacing it I took it out for a test drive and it surged up to 7k-8k rpm’s! Had to turn it off and coast into my driveway. I saw your video and did a quick clean and found the blackest of black carbon buildup in the throttle body. Turned the car on to check it and the rough idle is gone!!! Much appreciated for the video
I have seen lots of guys with the obs Ford's drill holes in the flap to fix the idle when this is the actual issue . It is allso a good idea to Chek all vacum and the idle air control valve 👍
I cleaned mine yesterday on the i20, I didn't take it out though. So i think that there's still some fat or oil deposits from the WD-40 because it still flactuates on idle but becomes steady when I turn the AC on.
I recently faced this problem with my 2013 Hyundai Elantra , so I cleaned the throttle body, after couple of days I noticed my check engine light was on and upon checking the code I figured out that there is some problem with MAF sensor, so i got it replaced. Car was fine for couple of weeks but facing the same problem again but this time with no codes. What about the pcv valve would this causing the carbon/crud build up on the throttle body? Also what about that oring can you reuse it or shouldutbe replaced?
My Hyundai Accent 2010 also has this surge feel at idle and the RPM goes very low during idle too when AC is turned on. After turning on the AC, the idle keeps staying rough and RPM keeps fluctuating between very low and medium. Can this also fix my car's problem ?
Hi, I'd like to share that for my 2018 Corolla LE, I was experiencing the same problem with the rpms and what I did to solve it was to clean the throttle body with a rag and wd-40 or crc carbon cleaner and then I replaced the pcv valve. By cleaning the throttle body carbon deposits rpms stopped jumping and then by replacing pcv valve I stopped rough/high rpms on my 2018 corolla.

Turn ignition to acc mode (power on but not starting) wait 10 seconds then shut power off for at least 10 seconds then attempt to start vehicle but doesn’t hurt to do it twice I always do and works like a charm and same goes for push start except you press button 2 times without pushing on the break ( acc mode) same time intervals it allows the ecm to relearn idle position of butterfly plate in the TB after being disconnected. It may not drive completely smooth right off the bat bc all computers and sensors take some kind of time to relearn each other but I’d say no more than 15 minutes of driving or at least 5 miles
My 2014 Accent has a fluctuating idle when standing still. Goes between 500 to 750 and down. My dad changed air filter, spark plugs, oil change and some other things I can't recall. Went better for about 2 weeks and now I am back to having the same issue with the RPMs.
Hello, great video! I just had my 2013 engine replaced covered (mostly) by Hyundai USA. After a couple of months In park or in gear (like this video under a load) the idle drops 100-200 rpm just like in your video. It also occurs when coasting downhill or cruising at a low (700ish to 1750ish rpm). Some other blogs online say the issue was a CPS (Crankshaft Position Sensor). What are your thoughts or have you seen a similar issue with CPS?
I have a 2014 hyundai veloster that won't rev past 2500 rpms, i cleaned the throttle body and no change. Also, there are no codes fore the throttle body, just codes for evap p0455 i believe. Any ideas would be appreciated. TIA

My 2018 Hyundai Tucson shakes a lot at stop and go traffic. Feels like it’s having trouble at 1st gear. Once it shifts to the next gear it’s fine. Wondering if this is the same cause.
Try it man this was the issue same issue I had with my car. It’s the same as yours and I was able to clean it and fix the issue. The only problem in that if you open by hand you may throw the sensor off and then have to recalibrate the map sensor. Or worse. Buy a new one. Lucky mine was able to recalibrate on its own but it was something I didn’t know and he didn’t mention.

My 2011 Elantra with over 270 plus miles had change alternator m valve cover gasket n plugs n new battery n negative cable but still shuts off at red lights or when am driving . Just early morning today it shut down at light . Oriely check it out n starter n battery n alternator is good . I was thinking my fuel filter is bad but am going to try this cleaning here ya shower this weekend

Check for any cracks or air leaks in the air intake tube, especially where there are folds. I had this problem and it took a year to find out the intake hose had small cracks. I first taped the intake hose and had no more stalling / hesitation. Then I replaced the air intake tube,($20) problem solved.
@@777-h6d i used the blue driver OBD2 scanner, that shows me the 2 cylinders are misfiring and it also showed that the MAF sensor is faulty as well so changed that too. It's been almost 2 months no issues.
I have the same problem witha 2013 accent and I cleaned the throttle body and it didn't fix it and I've cleaned the injectors twice and changed coils with new aftermarket and one went dead already...had to put an original back on.sometimes if I just restart the car the issue goes away-also a #2 misfire but if i floor the car the light stops flashing and the car takes off like a bat outa hell and works good...sounds like a fuel delivery issue......any thoughts.....
MAP sensor, PCV valve and PCV sensor, throttle position sensor. These are all relatively cheap parts and easily installed. Helps with idle and poor mpg

Your engine is probably a 2.7 delta. These engines have mechanical throttle bodies and they control the idle rpm by ISC valves. If your rpm is fluctuating you might want to change the isc or have it overhauled
LOL 150 RPM fluctuation is nothing to worry about… You should probably talk more about the map sensor and vacuum leaks instead of cleaning the throttle body
I change my 2011 throttle body n this issue is gone. Now it shuts off at times while idle . I replaced neutral safety switch two days ago but just yesterday at bank drive thru . My 2011 Elantra shuts off. Now am th my starter nay needs replacing. Same one since got da car at 97k miles no w at 238 k plus.

This might sound crazy but check your transmission fluid level. If it's low, then there is excessive load on the engine at idle. Add a quart and you may just solve this issue. It worked for me on a 2011 Elantra GLS touring. Ultimately I wound up doing a full flush but adding fluid worked just fine.

Did you do the reset trick? Turn you car to ignition on but don’t start the engine and wait 10 seconds. Turn the ignition off and wait 10 seconds. Then start the car.
No it was the crank sensor. I replaced that and it was fine. The throttle body was very dirty though the blade was even sticking a little. Maybe better gas mileage we'll see.

I removed mine and cleaned it like you said and the problem was solved. I made sure I could see daylight on booth the top and bottom of the butterfly.

Clean also the MAP sensor that has also has surging effect. It is located after the air throttle

I was told to take the battery cable off for 15 minutes and reconnect it.
Can that cause the car not to move/drive when you take it off from Parking and put it to Drive/Reverse?
Your using brake cleaning here to clean the throttle bottle won’t that hurt the catalytic converter. What about using throttle body cleaner
Your 100%right! always use the proper tools for the job. And never press the butterfly valve.

I tried this fix today but nothing happen, the rpm surge is same as before and more over engine light trun on after doing this. ☹️
Update: I changed all 4 coils and spark plugs, and my problem got fixed. Cylinders 3 and 4 were misfiring.

My 2012 accent self accelerates if I just tap lightly on pedal, also rpm spiking in neutral (manual trans.) Sometimes it feels like itll expode.

Brake cleaner is no good for that. Leaves a residue. Do it correctly.

Don't leave the clean side of the air filter exposed as he did.
