I had an oil change done on my vehicle and after I left the oil change, engine light was coming on that’s when I stopped to ask someone why. Upon looking under the hood, they said that someone didn’t lock down the engine filter compartment. My RPMs were very high. I have a 2021 Chevy equinox only 65,000 miles. I’m confused. I’m not sure what to do next. and once someone tightened it down the rpm started getting high
So I clean my throttle body. Cleaned it as well as I could. When I cut the car back on, the idle is still rough and jumpy. Is that normal? Plus I smell a weird smell. It wasn't doing this before I cleaned the throttle body.

How about a diesel that idles about 50rpm too low...I have a Peugeot 1,4 HDI turbo diesel....No codes no check engine light...EGR valve changed to new a while ago due to malfunction....? Any tips are very appreciated...
Great video but what if car predates computers injectors and sensors mines 1984 Mitsubishi sigma 4 cylinder natural aspirated non injected carburettor operated engine when idling it revs up / down on its own will check vac leaks but no obd to check codes no sensors what do I do ? @top 5 auto repairs

Mine only shows these symptoms after a while with the a/c running. It starts to turn the compressor on and off and the idling follows. Getting the condenser changed soon; the issue is still there with a new compressor and a recharge.

If it idles so low that it wants to die and has o2 codes with steady vacuum your EGR is stuck open. Just needs to be cleaned.

Just finished installing new spark plugs and ignition coils in my Kia Forte 2010.. no need for throttle , valve cleaning

Yes it's normal. Idle it for awhile and idle should return to normal and smell should be gone.

Use propane hand paint burner: that is much much safer because it will eject a gass and not a liquid that vaporizes and can cause a fire.
