I honestly think that X-Men 97 is better than Invincible. Not that Invincible is a bad show, cause it's not. It's great. But X97 is beyond great, it's perfect. Bring on season 2!
There are many amazing cartoons no doubt about it, but X-Men has always been at its core even in the not so great wolverine, and the X-Men or X-Men evolution, X-Men has always been about tackling dark and big subjects. I mean, even the original series started off its first episode with death, and then multiple episodes. Continue to show us the ripple effect of the team as they were facing the death of one of their own. And then, in the middle of the season, we are suddenly faced, not just with death, but with issues about slavery, and then we jump into issues about people feeling out of place, and not themselves and not happy with themselves, and so on. How X-Men evolution began as a corny high school drama, but then it started building up with darker and darker seems like being rejected by your mother when you’re longing for her. Wolverine and the X-Men was cheesy, but it had moments where it tackled pretty dark seems to like, wolverine, rescuing, the little girl, and then being labeled as garbage because he’s a mutant. Showing how people in society, if they have done something bad in the past, they are almost always mistreated, and never given a chance to fix their lives. and now, this, X-Men 97, it has continued the tradition of X-Men, tackling big subjects and dark themes. But it has continued it with the characters we all know and love. Because I am sorry, but shadow cat is a boring character and does not belong on the team.lol I love this team with rogue and gambit and charming, classy beast, and boring cyclops and annoying Jean and wolverine with catchphrases. This is the best team ever and yes, the goddess storm always doing anime announcements of her attacks. This is the best X-Men. But X-Men in general is amazing. After the insanity of X-Men, the original, We needed to cool down for a bit with high school X-Men evolution. Then we need to build up to a dark future with wolverine and the X-Men and now we got the main course, and the main course is not done yet because the second half of the meal is on the way with It’s juicier and meteor all beef burgers to bite into. I can’t wait for season two.
Invincible is an incredible show, I love it! But X-Men 97 is simply on another level, like a cosmic anomaly transforming the whole multiverse forever lol. In ten years I might remember Invincible with a "t'was cool" feeling. But I will still be profoundly traumatized by X-Men 97 😂

Only one thing I would say as a con to your review is the Cap point. This show is influenced more by the comics than any movie. And Cap in the comics especially when it comes to Mutant and Government beefs can be very stand offish and inactive. So the way he is shown in this show is spot on when it comes to the comics and the beefs the x-men have with cap and the avengers.

I used to don't understand why people like cyclops back in the day. My first interaction with x men was the fox movie. Now he's among my fav characters in Marvel
What I love about how they handled Magneto in this series is that you fully understand why he is the way he is, why he chose to give humanity a chance and try it Xavier's way, but also how after Genosha, he would be done. He survived two genocides. When me and my friend were watching this, we literally went, "Yeah, like, I'm siding with Magneto on this. He's actually right." This was further cemented when Xavier hijacks his mind, removing all agency and consent. He wasn't a villain this time around, he was an understandable antagonist to the X-Men, and that difference matters. This whole show is fire, and is easily one of the greatest animated series ever created. I cannot wait for season 2, and I hope so much that we get Spider-Man '98.

Unless you were there watch the OG X men animated series, I can't take anybody saying any thing on comparing the 2. The animated spiderman/X men were ELITE. Dam near everything was cannon and animation quality at the time was unreal and detailed.
As a long time Marvel fan, I've been excited, stunned and in awe over the animated series so much! Due to your idea of the Multiverse Saga, can you do a fan-made 3rd MCU Saga idea, please, Black Lion?
It's funny how much people are gushing over the animation, given that in the original series, the animation was one of its *weakest* aspects. It still had utterly fantastic writing for being a predominately episodic series (save for its first season), but its fights were hampered by its lack of budget. I'm glad that its continuation went above and beyond, and gave us not even the kind of animation the original series deserved, but some of the best I've seen in Western animation, period. Something else I love is how the series keeps the same tone as the original series, but is notably darker and more mature than the original. There's the occasional use of vulgarity without it being jarring, people actually shown drinking, Wolverine being able to use his claws on something other than the typical Sentinels, *blood…* it's basically how I'd imagine a sequel series should be, with an audience that is now much older.
Love this show so much, while I like the 90s show, I think spectacular spider-man is better and deserves a reboot more. Especially since we now know the Peter did find Mary Jane so there’s not much more to do with it. Where as spectacular Spider-Man has sooo many story to explore and plots to finish.
There's also a ton of stories for Spider-Man 98 to adapt too. Spider-Man has had some great and some horrible stories since the 90s and then 90's show is closer to the comics so it would be a better place for those adaptations. Plus its already a shared universe so we can have massive crossover events like the 90's shows did and adapt stories like Civil War
i think Emma Frost may join the team. this will be also be a great time to introduce Shadowcat and Sage, and even Domino. other characters who have already been introduced include Iceman, Havok, Polaris, Colossus, Psylocke, Wolfsbane, and Multiple Man.
This is how it felt back in the 90s, I empathize felt because of course the quality of this show is way better, but trough the glasses of nostalgia this is a great translation, not only that but it already has tints and suggestions to other very interesting stuff from the 90s comic runs. And in terms of diversity this makes me happy, it shows a diverse cast without the need to make white people less, no race swapping or gender swapping, you have a diverse cast and it shows how to do inclusivity the right way, You have morph who is literally able to transition, you have good and bad guys of all colors, it elevates everyone equally.
Cap doing jack-shit in a Mutant affair was so in character, that I nearly got up and cheered. Loved that they were authentic to his comic book incarnation. Glad they didn't just insta-simp for him and make him into MCU Cap, who is admittedly better.
As far as Cap goes, my understanding is that he sees that the world is on the brink of an evolutionary war. If he does one thing wrong, humanity may trust him and his team (Maybe the Avengers, he doesn't say.) Less, because they think he supports mutants over humans. And Cap has to worry about EVERYONE. It just wouldnt help in the long run... Until the Prime Sentinels attack. At least then, he and King T'Chaka try to talk Kelly out of using the Magneto protocols
I was 19 when the original show ended on television, waited so long for a new continuation. When I heard about this the first time I said to myself Oh no... they are going to ruin it but.... I was so wrong, they made it great, and this is how you so a series right and honor the original. I finished the final episode, and it left me wanting more now. This is a great series, great nostalgic feeling and new intro done right, great animation, voice acting, stories and can't wait to see what happens in season 2. This show gets a huge 👍👍👍👍
Loved the show. I can’t wait for the next season. I think they should definitely consider doing a continuation of the Spider-Man series and I think they should also make an Avengers show but set in the same existing universe
Beast gave an MLK quote which Ms. Til’s does note, but then she misses the second one that Hank had made to paraphrase another quote of King’s. “I've led my people into a burning building,” is the speech before King’s death to note how the time spent begging for tolerance was wasted when no economic equality had been gained! So she shamed the rioters for feeling broken & breaking glass. Her general apathy to the matter is manipulative, vain, and heartless. You can't be equal by being broke… #MagnetoWasRight Morlocks were being bullied in sewers, and Charles had billions at his disposal and he could pass for human most days as the XTAS series finale reflects! Passing, Colorism, dark or light skinned, Bi-racial, & racism come at the people who were actually seen as 3/5ths of a human being for tax purposes and intents, in levels and layers no one else deals with. Storm is African & American… Jean chose her to discuss the sentiment of black parents knowing their children won’t always be viewed as humans to Karen, or by Law Enforcement, etc. This series was so much more than an LGBTQiA+ commentary, or she could have spoken to Morph. But Ororo knows discrimination, power hatred, and fear. Real quick Hebrew lesson… Lillith is the Hebrew word for Screech Owl & Satan is the Hebrew for Adversary/Accuser This was phenomenal, the effects of Genosha resonating with Rosewood, Tulsa, & other black towns in the United States that were massacred or completely wiped from the “surface of the earth” such as flooded black cities in America under U.S. lakes today. This was truly BRILLIANT writing the Emmy is deserved
Val coopers monologue was epic! Also all those cameos are cannon to the original show outside of cloak and dagger. Iron man, F4, had their own shows and the characters crossed over into Spider-Man and x-men.
I think the shot where Logan gets teleported with the prime sentinel by night crawler was probably the best shot in all of marvel anything outside of the spider verse movies (including live action)
20:10 so Jean pulling out the phoenix again, does somewhat come out of nowhere (in terms of not being built up) but it isn’t exactly fully contrived and does make sense as a reference to the comics. Jean is the white phoenix of the crown meaning in the entire marvel multiverse she is one of the only people that the phoenix considers a perfect host/avatar. This means she has a full connection to it and can manifest the fullest extents of its power. Considering the phoenix force is a multiversal entity and is unkillable because it embodies life and energy - Jean will never not be connected to it. TLDR: it makes sense that she’s able to use the phoenix’s power out of nowhere. Tbh the show probably should have discussed the idea but pacing.
I don’t think the author of this video realizes what’s going on when it comes to rogue switching sides. Rogue doesn’t just go switching sides because she feels like it. The whole second half of season one after gambits death is rogues suffering depression and her depression is at its peak when she switches sides. She has put her emotions away, and letting only anger and resentment flow through. Anger and resentment that her friends could not be there when they were in a battle for their life against mastermold. But by the end of the season, it’s pretty obvious that she is excepting the emotions, she is excepting the pain, she is excepting all the negative feelings that come with loss and, she has realized who the real cause of the death of gambit is, and it is not her friends, or even the man who started it all. Hence the reason she yells, gambits catchphrase while fighting bastion. Because she learned to accept what happened and learned to face who is truly at fault. She may not be over her depression but, she is starting to accept it. This was never about rogue, switching sides. This was about rogue going through a dark journey after losing not just a friend and teammate, but the man she loved. I know because when I lost my mother, I didn’t just emotionally shut down the way rogue just dropped Dr. Trask, but, I became angry and full of rage, and I abandoned my friends, and it was only when I woke up and realized the truth about losing my mother, only Zen did I rejoin my friends and except the emotions that come with loss. To the point that even i used one of my mothers catchphrases when facing a situation.
The Phoenix transformation had been expected. The problem with it was that to non comic book fans, that came out of nowhere. Those who are familiar with the Jean-Phoenix relationship know that Jean's natural connection to it makes her the perfect avatar, not just a host. She can summon it at will. That should have been explained. It's what makes Jean both interesting and boring at the same time. Base Jean is already the X-Men's powerful member. On top of that, she'll always have a trump card in the Phoenix Force.
This goes to show that when these shows actually want great writing and animation, they know to hire them they just chose not to because of other motives. Best Marvel work since End Game.
Bruh I don’t have a problem with Cap being in the show that way. Remember mutant relations are tense and he has his orders. He wants to react but doesn’t want to start a war that is going to have many deaths.
Have to give credit where its due: The series has just been fantastic. I actually have feelings against the original. I was there when the New X-Men took over and as a result I am a stickler for continuity. I just couldn't stomach some of the adaptations the cartoon made and later seasons felt like those bad Super Friends episodes where you only get two or three characters after seeing the whole Justice league together in "Challenge". It could have been a trainwreck but once that theme song kicks in i'm a blubbering nostalgic fool.
You basically have: The O. G. Iron Man 🧍♂️’94 Silver Surfer 🏄♂️’98 The Incredible Hulk ‘96 Spider 🕷️ Man 🧍♂️ Unlimited Spectacular Spider 🕷️ Man 🧍♂️ Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes 🦸♂️ Iron Man 🧍♂️ Armored Adventures which needs to come back. THEY all ENDED On CLIFFHANGERS!
Would be cool to have a marvel show drop a week. So one week we see the X-men the next it’s spideeman and so on. So you can managed watch time and hype time. This show was great because people did homework week to week. So five different episodes of different shows would kill the ability to focus. Reasonable to have two shows a week. Call it the marvel hour. Two shows then a month before that show is up again. You go Spider-Man etc. the arrowverse crossover events. But without needing to watch eight hours of programming a week to keep up.
Thanks to japanese anime culture blowing up and becoming so normal. You can see how much it influenced this show otherwise it would just be like the 90s version.

Jean Grey was switched during the Reunion 2 part episodes of XTAS
my only complaint is that this show speed ran through plots too fast. epsiodes 1-5 needed to be fleshed out for a whole season alone

Just noticed how badass forges entertainment center was!
Loved the show. I can’t wait for the next season. I think they should definitely consider doing a continuation of the Spider-Man series and I think they should also make an Avengers show but set in the same existing universe
hands down, its even better then the original serie
Beast gave an MLK quote which Ms. Til’s does note, but then she misses the second one that Hank had made to paraphrase another quote of King’s.
“I've led my people into a burning building,” is the speech before King’s death to note how the time spent begging for tolerance was wasted when no economic equality had been gained! So she shamed the rioters for feeling broken & breaking glass. Her general apathy to the matter is manipulative, vain, and heartless.
You can't be equal by being broke… #MagnetoWasRight
Morlocks were being bullied in sewers, and Charles had billions at his disposal and he could pass for human most days as the XTAS series finale reflects!
Real quick Hebrew lesson… Lillith is the Hebrew word for Screech Owl &
Satan is the Hebrew for Adversary/Accuser
This was phenomenal, the effects of Genosha resonating with Rosewood, Tulsa, & other black towns in the United States that were massacred or completely wiped from the “surface of the earth” such as flooded black cities in America under U.S. lakes today.
This was truly BRILLIANT writing the Emmy is deserved
Val coopers monologue was epic! Also all those cameos are cannon to the original show outside of cloak and dagger. Iron man, F4, had their own shows and the characters crossed over into Spider-Man and x-men.
as a colorblind, the visuals are amazing!!!
It’s up there with X men Evolution. But I get all the kids saying it’s the best
The series is wicked and having a wonderful run. I am a marvel guy. But Batman the animated series is still a top notch animated series
I think the shot where Logan gets teleported with the prime sentinel by night crawler was probably the best shot in all of marvel anything outside of the spider verse movies (including live action)
I'm with ya on other characters getting their own animated shows! :D
So many possibilities.... A proper AoA, an improved Onslight story, decimation, Rightclops, AvX? And my personal fave would be an adaptation of Krakoa
I'm afraid this show has raised the bar too high for future Marvel and X-Men projects
They probably should just continue everything from this, even if its all just animation
X-men 97 and Netflix daredevil are the best superhero adaptations I’ve ever seen 😤🔥🔥🔥
Yes
Suggestion:
How would you manage the Monsterverse? (No limits)
It was a masterpiece i even saw a cloak n dagger sighting along with alpha flight that blew my mind fanboys .
Why everyone forgetting the most epic and unexpected cameo?
Heisenberg (18:58)
Perry Mason over Peter gun. I didn’t notice that until yesterday. Well I always heard the Perry Mason. But I just noticed the Peter Gunn.
This show made Cyclops my favorite X-MEN. And I don’t think I need to justify that. Just watch the show.
On top of that, she'll always have a trump card in the Phoenix Force.
that's just how cap is tbh. hes kinda an adversary to the mutants by nature as he's a slave to the government

My overall take of the show: put some respect on my X-Men. Very proud of the show.
This goes to show that when these shows actually want great writing and animation, they know to hire them they just chose not to because of other motives.
Best Marvel work since End Game.
Do A Video Talking About Predictions For My Adventures With Superman Season 2
Bruh I don’t have a problem with Cap being in the show that way. Remember mutant relations are tense and he has his orders. He wants to react but doesn’t want to start a war that is going to have many deaths.
Can you make part 3 to you're version of the dcu, I really enjoyed the other 2
same, but u need to understand that they take A LOOONG time to make
Have to give credit where its due: The series has just been fantastic.
It could have been a trainwreck but once that theme song kicks in i'm a blubbering nostalgic fool.
rogue was moving like superman at the end

I would love a new Ben 10 Series in the style of X-Men 97
i HATE time travel, and traveling to other dimensions and s**t, but x-men '97 seems to be doing it the right way.
Lol I'd round that up to a ten. Agreed it's almost perfect accept for one or two small things.
Day 2 of asking for what if the multiverse saga had the same structure as the infinity saga.
Agree wirh most of this, but the Cable and Cyclops and Jean ending is not the most heart breaking part of the series. It was definitely gambits death!
@Blacklion
My question for you is is it as good as arrow season 5?
so i think on season 2 or probably season three we will get limbo and madalyn's return
Rip leech, gambit 😢
The final episode was okay. I think magneto’s convictions are correct
it's marvels best series.....by far
Yeah nah spectacular spidey and emh are still better in my opinion but hey it’s subjective
Perfect, perfecter, perfeterest
X-Men '97 is Marvel's best. End of story
And to think that people lowkey hated on this show before release.
HIS NAME WAS GAMBIT REMEMBER IT
Bastian sounds a lot like Ultron.
Can u make ur own plan on a mutant saga?
Jubilee acting pregnant is interesting
Ok
great job..but i wanna highlight to people..beast is smart..hes not a goodie 2 shoes.
Thanks to japanese anime culture blowing up and becoming so normal. You can see how much it influenced this show otherwise it would just be like the 90s version.
It's good apart from Wolverine's diminished role, Morph being in it and being in love with Wolverine.
It’s not terrible
