First issue of Batman was published in 1939 and one year later we already had introduction of Robin, many of the iconic characters from his rogue gallery (Joker, Hugo Strange, Catwoman and etc), “no kill rule” and etc. During the WW2 Batman was so popular that they made movie about him in 1943, same goes with Superman that beyond that had his own highly successful radio play count in thousands of episodes and high-budget animated film series! That fourth slot has to be either wolverine or Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman because she is the embodiment of female empowerment in comics, there is no female heroes without her. Female empowerment is not a quality same as spider-man being teenage boy empowerment is not a quality. Wonder woman sucks as a character anyways. She’s very sexist in the comics and it was even worse in the early comics, she’s also kinda a worse superman and she never takes the unbiased side of a conflict even tho she’s supposed to represent law and justice. She-hulk is a better Wonder Woman than Wonder Woman is. She represents law and justice in a better way, she was actually likeable in the comics and she was a very strong and intelligent and witty female character in almost all of her comics. Wonder Woman doesn’t compare. Wonder Woman just isn’t a good example and was never as possible as Wolverine neither.

For Wonder Woman, while she may not have the Rogues Gallery as some of the others, I think that's at least in part due to her initially being a WW II Hero, followed by a television series that, much like the Incredible Hulk's, didn't focus upon supervillains but rather "real life" encounters and villainy. HARD disagree about the Fantastic Four not having a stand out member. Human Torch and Thing stand far above the other two characters in terms of popularity. Demand for a Human Torch solo series was so high during that era that he took over Strange Tales for a few years. The Thing has also just always stood above the rest of the team in terms of popularity and that's reflected in the book as he begins to get more screen time the deeper in you go. I think there's a case for one of them to be on the Silver Age Mt. Rushmore over Hulk since Hulk wasn't an instant success but The FF just is the silver age incarnate. The early Hulk installments struggled to find an audience and his status quo varied from issue to issue as Lee and Kirby struggled to find something that worked. Hulk really gained popularity more in the bronze age.
That's just like my opinion though.

I'd have Wolverine as the forth. For me it would have to be one of the X-men and Wolverine is the most popular. We had the explosion of X-Men comics in the 80's followed by the cartoon that changed the way superhero cartoons were made if not cartoons in general. And then it was X-men that really started the comic book movie boom of the 2000's. All the movie studios have said that X-men was the movie that made them believe in comic book movies mainly because of the effects. You had guys flying, shooting ice and fire, running through walls and people saw that and thought that cinema was finally ready to have all the heroes on the big screen. And that ushered in a new generation of comic book readers. So for me it's Wolverine.

Just putting it out there: Batman the animated series is both better, had a stronger impact, and holds up better to this day across the board. X-Men the animated had a big effect also, but NGL, there's a a lot of talking down that just comes from the X-Men franchise and from the show runners specifically that keeps it back and that Batman the animated series and subsequent DCAU shows just didn't have as consistently. Also, the last season of X-Men shifting production to the Philippines and the weird visual drop.

Argue all you want that they just did it to stoke controversy at the expense of good storytelling, but at the end of the day these are two separate issues. They're not related. Ideally they'd be able to have both a gay character and a great story, and if that's not happening it's not BECAUSE they made the character gay. it's wonder woman
people are thinking who is currently more popular rather than who has had the most impact on not just the industry but pop culture as a whole like Superman/Batman/Spiderman
while iron man is the face of the MCU, his popularity is declining due to being out of the MCU for over half a decade now. He doesn't really have relevancy on the level of Superman/Batman/Spiderman outside the MCU.
also it's not about "being even" or saying DC is better than Marvel or Marvel is better than DC. Some people are only choosing Ironman or Captain America because they want 2 marvel characters and to make it "even", but the reality is that they were not big characters until the last decade. Superman/Batman/Spiderman have always been popular, relevant and icons even outside the comic medium
Wonder Woman has been the leading lady in comics since her inception, she is know by you own grandmother and she is the first character people think when you say "female superhero". She will probably always hold that status for as long as comics exist too and I don't see that changing.

When ww has a few more movies under belt as well as multiple video games , merch sales and solo animated projects we can talk . The fact even before hulk and wolverine were bigger than ww and after films last decade cap ironman and thor made more of a cultural dent through movies and ensemble movies. @@unaxthorizedJoker is a safe pick, and Green Goblin too. The question is who gets one of the other two spots? From Sup’s gallery we have Lex, Zod, Doomsday and Braniac, but Lex is by far the biggest enemy of Supes. Not gonna even talk about Wonder Woman’s enemies, or any other JL member really. Other contenders from Batman are Scarecrow, Ras al Ghoul, Deathstroke and Penguin, but the second stands out the most. Besides that we have Magneto or Apocalypse from X men. If we go deeper into Spidey we have Sandman, Doc Ock and Venom, which are all top contenders. The only other two that are remarkable are Darkside and Thanos.
I would say that number 3 spot goes to Thanos, simply because of his popularity from Infinity war, which got its foundation from the Infinity gauntlet comic run. The 4th spot is for me a toss up between Lex or Darkside, as both are very impactful, but in very different ways. Darkside hasn’t received a lot of love recently, but every scene he is in he dominates ridiculously. Lex on the other hand is always a signal that something long and outstanding will happen over time and that he will always create an interesting plot point or twist.
I think I will go with Lex as he has had more scenes and more exposure to the overall media as Darkseid, and he is a way more interesting foil to Superman than Darkside, which has overlapping elements with Thanos.
I think it fits quite well like this, we have a genius who is the complete opposite to Superman in body and mind and has to make up with his human intellect and resources. Similarly we have Green goblin who is just as mad as intelligent, but also on the same level as Spider-Man. Joker needs no explanation and Thanos, who has a super mad and utilitarian plan to bring order, while also simultaneously being in love with death.

While Captain America was a great influence on WW2 not only did Wonder Woman influence ww2 woman front atleast to my knowledge but it also inspired many female comic book reader and is so legendary she is considered the big three in dc comics with Superman and Batman.

Someone I'm shocked actually doesn't show up is Jessica Cruz from DC for the Post-Modern Era, outside of Hal Jordan due to being Evergreen, she's started to become DC's go to Green Lantern, for what, 11 years of service since her first appearance, she's appeared as a main character in her own comic run, at least two animated movies, and a popular member of the DC Super Girls show, which really out competes say Silk for the fourth spot.
Also, Evergreen, that is really the term you've been looking for towards the end, Transformers fans coined it to being the eternal version of that character, and yeah, that describes how all we're getting now is rehashing of the same names and stories as they're the money makers.

It's 100% Wonder Woman. I honestly didn't even have to think about it. Diana is one of the most influential fictional women ever, and is a role-model for countless feminists across the world. There's no way we could have an all-time superhero Mount Rushmore without including at least one superheroine. Every-day people refer to women as their "Wonder Woman" for being their hero the same exact way someone would say: "You're my Superman!"
I'll give you a perfect example on why it's undoubtedly Wonder Woman-When was the last time you heard anyone singing "the Wolverine theme song?" Or "the Iron Man theme song" (although I have to admit the 60s Iron Man theme song is an underrated gem)? If we could put entire teams on here, the X-Men and Avengers would be up there, no question, but I wouldn't say a single member of those teams is as monumental as Wonder Woman. And for a "Mount Rushmore," the term "monumental" is key.
Think of it this way-The Superhero Mount Rushmore could easily just be the most recognizable individual superhero theme intros, and it would be the Superman 40s intro, the Batman 60s intro, the Spider-Man 60s intro, and the Wonder Woman 70s intro. It's Wonder Woman, guys. She was so insanely ahead of her time.

Yeah, the stories haven't been great but you can say that about so many "non-woke" characters as well. The issue is with a lack of creativity, not an increase in diversity. Comics just aren't super popular in general because most of the tropes have been done to death and there is more money to be made in other forms of media.

EX: The Shadow's nickname was "The Knight of Darkness", The Shadow used Yellow Bat shaped boomerangs, The Shadow used duo guns (Batman as well in his early comics), The Shadow had a villain called "The Grim Joker" who was a clown themed mafia guy that killed people with toxic laughing gas, etc

Hate to break this whole video for anyone who reads comics but the answer is either Wolverine or Wonder Woman. I’m someone who was born in 2000 and even when I look at the history of comics they are the rightful 4th. Wolverine was the one that stood out in the X Men. They might not have been the debut characters but they popularized each series heavily in their own right.
First since I’m a Marvel fan boy by most standards I’ll start with Wolverine. Wolverine was literally one of the later x men ever introduced. He wasn’t a founder but if you were to ask anyone to name an X men member and they know what you’re talking about Wolverine is top 3. He’s too iconic.
Wonder Woman is a huge one as well. She has been around since 1943 I think but she’s been prominent throughout the ages. If you were to ask a kid to name a dc hero Wonder Woman will be in the top 3 as well because she has a rememberable name. Plus she’s been around for a long time so it’s not that hard to see why she’s a strong 4th.
But in the end pick amongst the 2 because these 2 characters have impacted their franchises in more ways than one. (Imo if I’m being honest I’d say Wolverine takes it only because he brought light to a pre existing series instead of joining one.)

She literally was the first female superhero most people would think of before anyone else. I’m not saying the others that came out at the time are bad or anything but she literally was a top level character.
Also this topic wasn’t about video games so idk where you brought that up from. Even if we think of games what did marvel get in the past few years? We got Marvel’s Avengers (a bad game), Marvel’s Midnight Suns (a game most people don’t play), and Spider Man (the savior of marvel but I love Spider-Man so idc). In my opinion it has to be Iron Man. I know Wonder Woman and Wolverine are easy contenders, but if we're talking in this day and age Iron Man is unbeatable. I know Iron Man was a C-list hero before his movie but like I said, today he is a worldwide renowned character.

Idk how so many people don't think its wonder woman cuz I really do feel she is literally incredibly well known by every generation. Wolverine is fair but I have always felt like Wonder Woman is way more popular somehow. It wouldn't be Iron Man tho cuz majority of those fans only come from the MCU specifically rather than any fans that were focused on the comics.

Gotta be Ben Grimm. The Thing embodies the legacy of Stan and Jack perfectly, while reflecting the weird beauty of the silver age and Marvel's history.
Also he's already made of rocks

really entertaining video! looking back at the comic heroes of old is always a joy.
the only part of the videos i didn't quite like was the mention of the jonathan kent being gay thing? sure it sparked controversy, but i personally think it's a great thing that comic readers that fall into those minorities get to enjoy some representation! of course it's not something everyone would immediately get, and the pushback is just a natural thing in the aggresive world that we live in, but i think it's the next best thing for upkeeping the spirits of people who get shunned for who they are all over the world, while also, yknow, not pushing it onto legacy characters. it's kind of like how miles spider-man gave us a great african american/puerto rican hero for kids to look up to y'know?
tangent aside, i look forward to watching some more of your videos! oh and H U G E props to the thumbnail artist for the video!!! it looks stunning!!!!!! 🥰🥰🤩

@@nobodyviews flash is far more iconic than hulk, Barry literally saved the entire multiverse while also making the ultimate sacrifice in the process. No body now days is saying hulk is there favorite superhero, flash has a wayyy bigger fan base than hulk.
