  • This is a popular overview of some of my favorite All Terrain Tires. I'm looking at the BF Goodrich AT KO2, General Grabber ATX, Continental Terrain Contact, Goodyear Duratrac, and the Goodyear All Terrain Adventure. My favorite tire it the BF Goodrich KO2. It makes any truck look good. I like the General Grabber ATX too. If you ever need a set of tire and you aren't sure what you need, give me a call or text. Shouldn't puncture resistant and ability to get out of anything off-road be the primary concern? If they are like dozens of miles away from any help, unless they are some super boy/girlscout, you are fucked. Last activity they do in life until they are dead only to be eaten by animals and birds.

I have the Goodyear duratrac best tire I ever owned , install on my GMC truck great in the mud and great in the snow , I live in the country have dirt roads and paved roads and these tires keep my truck on the road ,and also on wet pavement too, some people would say what about the ice on the road , to me for that answer its all about the driver's skill in driving on ice roads....over all in this video I give it 5 stars

My Continental Terrain Contacts are very sticky on all surfaces without a hit to mpg. I crawled up a gravely 25° incline and with no problem in RWD. They are amazing in the rain too. Puddles don’t pull my truck in nor have I hydroplaned @ 75 mph. 4wd in the snow and ice, driving conservatively, has been great.

I have a Tahoe I use for hunting/fishing/winter and I'm on my 3rd set (with different vehicles). I blew out a sidewall last week hitting a pothole. The tire was 8 years old and weather checked pretty bad so I went E series this time. I love the traction these tires have. I've previously owned the BFG KO2 KO Mud terrain. I don't think they compare at all.

I live in NJ. Blacksburg, VA was a midway point on a trip home. I needed 4 new specialty tires that Campus special ordered for my truck the day before I came through. There was a 25% chance that they wouldn‘t fit on my truck. Matt ordered them with the promise that if they didn’t fit I wouldn’t be charged. Not only were they able to get the tires and do the work on the MORNING I was passing through....they did it at an extremely fair price and in short time. Stellar customer service. Side note.....I run a real estate office with 120 associates (25 years). Strong customer service keeps me in businessand I not only recognize it, I train it. I spent 2 hours in Matt’s waiting room listening to his team interact with customers and potential customers. First class all the way. Don‘t hesitate to use them.

Love BFG KO 2.... I put the KO1 on my 1985 3/4 ton Chevy and they lasted forever.... Drove the truck for 10 years and outlived the truck and the tires were still good they last forever.... I live in Canada and between the Snow and mud on construction sites and the BFG All terrain KO have never gotten stuck, all day and night for me. now I have the BFG KO2 on my 3500 Chevy 4×4 Diesel and my Ford F-350 Dually... Wouldn't run anything but BFG... I bought the 3500 Chevy and it came with Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac, they were 70% when I bought the truck and they only lasted 1 1/2 years.

Damn this helped tremendously. 9 yrs ago I went to get new tires at 90k on a Nissan Frontier. I had researched plenty and picked out a chunky A/T beast. Of course.
A tire pro asked about my ACTUAL driving- Florida- dry-flat-rain-floods-occasional drive through a yard😅 so some mud-vacation in Pidgeon Forge- so light snow.
He suggested a Bridgestone Dueller H/L Alenza with a higher sidewall from stock. Absolutely the most boring looking tire ever but I trusted him. 9 yrs and 90k later (no joke) his knowledge and advice turned out to be the best decision ever for me. These tires hit surprise pot hole at 70- broke a brake pad- tire... fine. Hurricane Michael- debris, mud, flooded- driving through lumber, & yards to safety, never hydroplaned.
He really knew his sh*t. His advice kept me my family safe and on the road for 9 yrs. So I wanted to say "thank you" for what you do, your knowledge, professionalism and for helping us all out. In these times it makes a difference.
    Tire whisperers are real.😮😮😮
Edit: figured I'd buy ya a cup of cheap coffee and a giant 🍩 donut.

I’ve owned trucks for 40 years and have run many brands. BFG are great for the first 10k miles and then they get sloppy. Had to ditch my last set for bad vibration while towing. I’m a retired game warden. I ran though several sets of those Goodyear wrangler with Kevlar through the years. Never had a problem with the tire, always dependable and got me through any situation. After a couple of sets they were my preferred tire. Good solid tire like you said. Used them in every thing from ice storms, hurricane details, chasing poachers, slick boat ramps, muddy hunting club roads etc. never dissatisfied with them.
Some of the guys used the more aggressive tread model Goodyear like you also have in the video, but that was a little too aggressive for my preference

Backed into a ditch once to turn around (middle of winter, rear tires in water), fully expecting to get stuck (person stopped to ask if I needed help), but just drove out without any any problems. Wanted to test out my new winch, but not that day. When they delivered my new 28' camper trailer, their 4WD dully F350 got stuck in my soggy backyard. Pulled them out with my truck and then parked the trailer.

I run the Goodyear Duratrax on my Jeep in the Sierra Nevada Mountains where we have chain restrictions like you talked about. The absolute best tires in snow I’ve ever had as long as your vehicle has a little weight to it, in the summer they do great off road on the big rocks. On my dually I run the Goodyear Adventurers since its life gets spent as a max capacity tow vehicle these have a better weight rating than the Duratrax. Both tires wear extremely well. I ran the BF Goodrich tires you show one time and wasn’t happy with them. It seemed like the compound was too hard so the didn’t hook up on snow and ice anywhere near as good as the Duratrax.

Love my General Discoverer A/T for my RAM 1500 Quad Cab. Got a great deal on them at my local Walmart. They ride far better than the Goodyear Eagle tires that came on the truck from the factory because they were Terrible on wet roads and they did not ride well overall. After three sets I changed to something new and I’m so happy I did.I am shocked at the huge difference and they cost much less than the Eagles. Also the Cooper Discoverer A/T is very Quiet on the Highway and they have a very good off road tread. I’m 60 years old and I think they may be the best all around tires I have ever had on any truck & I’ve owned a lot of pickup trucks in my lifetime.

I've had many different brands of all terrain tires over the years - Goodyear, BF Goodrich, Michelin and more. All have a few strengths and weaknesses, and all have been upstaged by my current tire, a tire destined to be my all time favorite - the Falken Wildpeak A/T3W All Terrain 265/70R16. A fair to good dry tire that excels when the weather gets nasty. The best wet road tire I have even driven on, and an even better ice and snow tire. Although an all terrain tire, this tire also sports the snow emblem, rating it as snow capable. They have certainly found a home under my Tundra.
[edit] For the record, I found the BF Goodrich to be the worst wet road tire of all the all terrain tires I have used. I live where it rains most days and I would not own a set of these ever again. IMHO, a dangerous tire in inclement weather, even though a good dry weather off road tire. I nicknamed them Sliders for their behavior in the rain, and I am a very conservative driver as my giddy-up left years ago.

I live in northern WI, north of Green Bay, and had both DuraTracs and KO2s. The Duras are better winter tires than the KO2 in my opinion. I had them on a 1500, and the KO2s on the 2500. I've used both trucks to pull out vehicles in the snow. The Duratracs would pull them through unplowed roads about 6"-8" deep with no tire slipping (we've had storms where no snowplow would come for days afterwards). The KO2s, I get a lot of tire spin when I do. They're starting to get a little slicker just on wet roads too. I'm running 37s on it, so I'm thinking the ATx may be the next set of tires.

I am on my 5th set over 3 different 4x4's, of BFG all terrain. Great tire. I used to sell tires for a large chain, BFG rep visited us and explained the asymetric tread blocks on the BFG cause the tire to be loudest at 15 mph. Tire has many great features.

My new F350 SWR FX4 with the snow plow package came with the Goodyear All Terrain Adventurer tires on it. They had great traction in their early years, but I did get stuck in the snow multiple times. My truck always weighs 10,100 lbs with a driver. I will only get about 30,000 miles out of them. After about 25,000 miles, I noticed the tires just did not do that well on slightly rocky dirt roads. When going uphill, even in 4X4, the rear wheels would bounce and skip, and this got worse on the same roads as the tires kept getting older. My truck was purchased in Woodbridge, VA, but has spent its entire life in Washington state.

The Goodyear Duratrac is considered a snow tire. That being said, it is by far the best all around all terrain tire out there. It does everything you'll want it to do. And it will do it better. The General Grabber would be second, hands down.
Here in Maine we get a lot of snow, mud in the spring and have many a back road/dirt roads. Durability and clean out is what you would look for. Both of these tires are actually quiet considering what they are. You'll be able to have a conversation while driving, and they are very durable. Can easily exceed the recommended mileage.

I am buying my second set of BF Goodrich KM2's. 1 full year on the first set, a good 20k miles, and still 70% tread. Buying new ones to upsize and widen. I do work on a farm, a lof of mud, ditches, and also highway. It's amazing to me how great they sound. They're not loud and clunky on the highway as you would think any mud terrain tire would be, but you can tell they're there. If you listen to stereo at low volume you will not.
A friend that helps me has Firestone Destination MT's. He cannot at all drive his truck in the mud and ditches that I take my SUV in. He does have a Silverado so my Blazer gets better torque at lower rpm's than him. But it's the feeling in his truck as soon as we hit the mud as if we're starting to stick. I never have had that with these tires! Complete control at all times no matter the conditions!!!

I get new tires every 5-7 thousand miles miles. I don’t replace them from wearing them out, I replace them for the signs of dry rot. It’s insane to change them for that reason, especially when they look new, but I drive about 900 miles a year, which means that the tires are not getting enough use to keep the rubber from drying out, perhaps the best way to describe it, is lack of massage. And because I hardly use the truck, the tires get killed by the Arizona heat. I’m now in the market for new tires, (AGAIN) but this time I will treat them inside and out with 303 UV rubber protector.

We have a couple lake place properties that in the winter are 4-5 miles back in the woods on non-maintained roads the BFG's never break a sweat. It's coming time to swap them out since tread is getting a little light for winter and I'm debating between the KO2's and the Grabbers. The Grabbers seem to be just as good of a tire but cost a decent amount less.

I've had 4 of those tires, and 1 i will never have... can anyone guess? yes thats right the continental... goodyear duratrac is the best tire in that bunch, and the best tire I have ever had. KO2 is over rated, looks old, and wears out way too fast (ko2). The duratrac is a little louder but still wears better and is much better in gravel, mud, snow and sand.If you want a general, I'm real interested in the X3... haven't had them yet but they look very good. Currently I'm running a set of Safari TSR's(not bad, not a duratrac), and a set of All terrain adventures(nothing impressive whatsoever).

I have ran the grabber at2 ( old version) and they were excellent, I have ran the bfg ko ( old version) also, now I'm running the Goodyear duratrac and after 25k of good traction, I ran out 7/ 32 of rubber or about half way now. They started at 18/32.
That said, I really want the grabber x3 on my truck next. I'm hoping for the perfect match for my offroad endeavours on the Tacoma.

Try the Grabber ATX if you don't want a dedicated mud tire.
