I had the AT2 on my 03 Wrangler and loved them. They got great traction in dirt, rocks, and snow. Very good traction in mud, unless it was thicker and it would plug up pretty easily. So if the ATx is an improvement over the AT2 then I’m definitely going to be looking at grabbing a set
My Bronco came from the factory with the grabber ATX 265/70/17 and I think they are great so far. 8k miles on them and already planning on sticking with this tire when I upgrade to a 33. Thick heavy mud/clay is their only weakness I have found so far. Hard to get them spinning fast enough to clear sometimes. To me it’s a fair trade off for the on road handling and ability to climb over rocks and ice.
Just back from a 500km dirt road overland trip. Never let me down.
I have these on my LJ love them....quiet, grippy, look awesome only complaint is balancing was an issue had two out of round needed to replace....still love them but it was a headache
I have the ATZ on my Jeep Commander. With the QDII 4x4 system and these tires, I don't worry about any weather. I try to lose traction in the snow and I can't. I also have these on the wife's JK. Thinking of getting them on my YJ. I love them.
I had a set of these on my h3 and totaled it (my fault). Got a new h3 and put a set of nittos all terrain tire and I've been kicking myself ever since. The grabbers are so much better in snow and clear out a lot better in mud than my nittos do. I'll be switching back as soon as I can.
just bought the ATX 35x12.5x17 and they are awesome. Great looking tire and tread pattern.

This is the only tire I run on my work vehicles I travel to remote tower sites and have torn up many sets of good years currently I have a set of atx with 65000 miles on them no patches no plugs and will still pass inspection recently I traded that truck for my current jeep which had Goodyear’s on it I had three plugs and a patch on those just upgraded to a set of atx yesterday so I look forward to the same reliability out of this set
Put these on my stock 2014 4Runner 4x4 SR5 in a 275/70/17 as I had seen others run this size without any significant rub; basically wanted my truck to look like and perform like a truck. Results after 5,000 miles: no rub; extremely impressed with highway performance in heavy rain. Driving interstates with an inch or so of water on them, I'm now able to maintain 65-70 Mph where I was down to 55 on stocks to prevent hydroplaning! Completely shocked that road noise with these is....zero! I don't know how, but they track great with zero hum! Occasionally tow, but only a 1-ton utility trailer. Regardless, I'm hoping the load range C will provide long mileage. So far, some of the best tires I've owned, and they're American-made. Can't beat that combination!

@@TrailBuilt I just bought a set of these for my 2002 kia sportage with stock 205 75 R15 and yes they are way more aggressive looking in person and they turned my little kia into a little tank the ATX are AWESOME if this is how General does tires they have a new customer for life
I'm seeing some reviews on youtube that the general grabber atx tread wears down alot. Like really bad. And that they have turned too the falken wildpeak at3w for better tread life. Can anybody confirm this for me thanks kim.

We plowed snow with the AT2s for years now the ATXs. Have run them on half and 3/4 tons trucks, gen 3 blazers and now a 2015 JKU. Great tire for all conditions especially for the price and comfortable ride.
How are they on black ice?

If youre okay with the weight of an E load but hesitant because of the traditional E load harshness on road, ill tell you that the comfort tech on these tires are great and my e load grabber atx is super smooth, cushy, and comfortable on road despite it being E load
Is the e load tire good for a f150 or is it too heavy of a tire.
@@kimcapone4791 oh man... i run the e loads on my Tacoma and they are great. Overkill but great. f150 is definitely an appropriate vehicle for these In my opinion.
@@kimcapone4791 you’ll notice a decrease in mpgs and some acceleration as a trade-off. I love these tires regardless though on my Tacoma truck
I have them on my Toyota Tacoma 2 Wheel Dr. first GEN. I love these tires I go hunting a lot and it does great in the snow and it does the best in the rain. I have been through some really bad storms and never had a problem in water.I do in town driving highway and dirt road. I also have a trails that go through the woods and at farm with hedge thorns everywhere and they don’t go through the steel belt. He’s tires are quiet for what they are and my only complaint is that they’re a little expensive. I have a 14 inch and they’re about $260 more expensive than regular tiresAnd I have bought two sets of these tires. I also have generals on three of my other vehicles they’re all car passengers and they’re awesome as well
I off-road when I can. Northern east coast, haven’t hit snow yet as snow has been. Well. None existent. What I can say is I have shown up the bfg guys with tacos who could conquer various obstacles but the atx grabber did. Beaten and slit the side walls in multiple locations, beefy side wall no chords are exposed. 40k next week on them, I intend to buy another set of grabbers BUT light truck load tires next time as mine are E load- 3 years ago they didn’t have the size I needed now they do. They haven’t let me down. Solid 9/10 without a doubt.
I had the Grabber ATX'S on my 2016 wrangler jku. Size was 35x12.5. I had absolutely no issues with noise or handling on road. Airing down and offroading was great in snow and some mud!! Gearing isn't where I want yet so I did change out for a smaller wheel and tire. 285 75r16s for more sidewall.
Years ago I had a set of the at2s on a Jeep Wrangler in Alaska so it was on ice and snow 9 months out of the year and it was the best snow tire I ever had by far. The previous set of Goodyear wranglers I would have to put it in four-wheel drive to get up my driveway with the AT2 most of the time I could get up the driveway and two-wheel drive. I would definitely suggest them to anybody.
How did they handle on frozen roads or ice?
@@myharley5616 Excellent . I was very happy with them. On my wrangler 235/75r 15 were much better than the original Goodyear Wrangler tires it came with. In many situations that would normally require four-wheel drive I was fine with two wheel drive. I think the only way you get it better tire on ice and snow and frozen roads is with a studded tire. But studded tires also have their drawbacks mainly noise. I have a Tacoma today 2018 four-door 6-ft bed TRD off-road if I lived in the same environment I would definitely have the newer version of what I had before. Thanks 👍
Lots of good info, at the moment for my size these are 270 each and 272 for KO2, I've had the BFG on my truck before and no complaints, but it's the only a/t tire I've used so for my 4Runner it's difficult to want to try something new
i put a set of general tires on my BMW and the quality blew me away. I will be putting these on ATX on my jeep with the hope I get the same kind of quality.
I love American Made an I have these on a 2015 Silverado 1500, I have zero complaints. I’ve had BFG on my Tundra an always felt like I was floating in the rain as well as throwing rocks at anyone behind me. I do a mix of on road an off as I live on a beautiful dirt road.

@@bcttc I got a taller and wider tire so they did rub. That said, I have the fox kit on now and I'm level without and rubbing. If you get the stock size you won't have any issues at all
2012 Toyota 4Runner Trail - came from Cooper AT3's and the ATX is a huge upgrade in appearance and performance. The tires are quiet and ride great on highway and have a ton of grip off road. I'm very impressed with the results so far.
What size are you running? I'm probably going to trade in my KO2's for another tire due to the bad wet weather capability. I'm running 285/70r17s in my 2012 trail

Good to know! I have a 13 Trail and I'm just about to get a set of these in stock size. I want something better performing/looking, but I'm not going to get into lifting and bigger tires just yet. Was torn between these and the new Toyo AT3 for a while, but these are 100/set cheaper and I think they look better.

I run a rare size of 275/70/17 on a Tacoma, with only 4 tire choices, grabber atx is one of them. They have been excellent.

@@Maadanchik gas mileage is about the same, I only went from a 31 to a 32 tire. But it made a big difference in the way it looks now.
These were great tires. Had them on my Sierra 1500. Handled Michigan winter driving well. Also had Exo Grapplers on my FJ, and they worked well on that vehicle. Would love to see Exo v ATX v Duratracs.
Looks good, they just don't have as many smaller sizes, as in the past.
great tire i have them on both my wife's 2012 4runner and my 2017 tacoma they performed great all year round here in Canada
in theory, a tire that actually performs "great" in one season can't perform great in another due to tire compounds. a believe a tire can perform good in all seasons, but not great. the same soft treat that performs great in winter will have a very short life in summer.

@@daoyang8919 they are great tires. I can’t say anything bad about them. Excellent on the highway nice and quiet. Handling is good on hard pack frozen roads in the soft snow and slush. Never got stuck once or even close. Stops good on the frozen roads. Barely slides. We were stopped at a red light, the window was down and some dude beside us said he loved our tires lol happened more than once strangers asking about the tires.
If I liked the grabber at2, will I like the atx even more? I'd like more aggressive, but not quite m/t aggressive

Here's a REAL review, I put FOUR of the Grabber ATx 215 65r16 on a 2000 Ford Taurus and greatly improved traction and ride. Superb rain traction!

They are an improvement on the BFG design imo. Quieter, better in wet conditions and just as good or better in the mud.

How are these bad boys in the rain!? Wet traction is a must for me since i hydroplaned and crashed few years ago.
I've heard good and bad about them. Mostly because the tread pattern is a rip off of the bfgs. My old neighbor told me that his grabbers out preformed the bfgs trying to go up a long driveway. He apparently was in 2 feet of snow in PA. 3 dudes all similar trucks and he claims he was the only one who made it to the cabin. I called bullshit on it because I've had the ko and ko2's on my f250 and they are damn near unstoppable in the snow granted if you know how to drive. I was going to try the grabbers out when I bought my new tires but they were priced more than the ko2's for my size......so I went cheap....got a set of thunderer trac grip 285 75 16 for $120 a tire. Can't go wrong there to try them out. I could get 3 sets of the thunderers for the price of one set of bfg or grabbers lol.
GT APT review?
I just bought a set for my Tacoma. Excited to get them mounted and give them a shot. Have run BFG A/Ts on two separate rides before and had nothing but love for them. Curious to see how the Generals compare. Gotta love that price point for sure of the Grabber over the BFG
What size did you get and what load? Did you notice a more stiff ride while off road and a drop of mpg?
@@brettseal4843 Rides great in both settings. But I certainly am experiencing a drop in mpgs (probably heavier). But also probably due to the 2" leveling kit screwing up the aerodynamics of "nose down". I'd have to double check the load, but they're the same diameter of the tires I replaced...265 70 r 17s.
@@Str8sixfan I went to 265/75r16, if you went up to 265/70r17s then they would be a bit bigger due to the wheel size increases. Looks like your tire size and mine will be the same. Looked them up on a calculator

I have a 2015 silverado 2500 I have some 285/70/17r on it and I'm thinking on getting the ATX for it mostly use it in highway here in Colorado. Sometimes I load it and haul trailers. Not in a basis day but I do. What yall recomend??

I’m looking to buy a new set of tires please input 1 if you prefer a general grabber or input 2 for a Nitto ridge grappler I am so undecided between the two. My main concern is wet conditions as we get a lot of rain here in the south.

Last set I had the toyo at3. Had 70k miles on them and took them off with 6/32 left
Bought the new Mickey Thompson Baja boss at for something more aggressive and higher ply because of towing more as well as have about 950 pounds constantly in the truck from stereo weight. Tow often as well. 20k on them and now at 16/32 when they come with 18.5/32. Disappointed the syping gets significantly smaller as they wear. Next I’m looking at going with either these or the new predator new mutant x-at. 275/55r20. Live in va. Care about longevity, snow, wet, and dry performance.
What did you think of the open countries in snow? Trying to decide between grabbers and open country for my next set
@@inthismomentcb I was wrong about the syping on the Baja boss. I tried sticking something in it to judge. I haven’t had generals so I can’t say between those 2.
What I can say I would absolutely pick these Baja boss ats over Toyo again. Average 1/32 per 10k miles. Currently at 90k miles on them with 9/32 left. Syping is still holding up great although not bfg or general does that stay across the tread its entire life. The syping on Toyos suck. I went back to look at them being pulled off and with 6/32 left there’s hardly any there. These Baja boss ats do phenomenal in everything I’ve thrown at them better than Toyo at3 except dry traction and don’t pick up a lot more rocks. Dry traction is a minuscule difference tho.
Bfg I’m waiting to see if they come out with more sizes. I need a 275/55r20 in a 8 ply or 10 ply. If they don’t come out when I need them I’ll try out the new falken wild peak at4w next.
I’d also like to add I forgot about is on the toyos they started dry rotting in less than a year as well as chucks started being missing out of the tires. I won’t give them another try as the at2 open country was significantly worse as well so at3 was a chance to be redeemed.
General I’ve heard great things about tho. I would definitely pick them over Toyo at3s.
In snow the Toyos do pretty good when new but the Baja boss at does significantly more better and in deeper snow as well.
I'm more of a interco Super swamper guy myself these just don't look like they can actually get through mud n real off roading like up in the mountains.. I could be wrong though

I just bought an 08 Silverado 2wd to pull a small camper. We live in Upstate New York and have one more winter to get through before retirement and moving to northern Georgia where 2wd will be fine. The tires on the truck now, although in good shape, are not for snow. Would these tires be overkill for a 2wd and mostly non-snow use (after this next and last winter)? How do they perform in light towing use? We will not be pulling the trailer until we move to Georgia. Also, being only a 2wd, I do not intend to do any serious off-roading. If not the ATX, what would be recommended?
These would be a solid choice for a 2WD with mostly non-snow. I would also consider the Trail_-Terrain which we have a video on as well!
I have over 40K on these. Mostly pavement. They are loud though

Could you do a review on the Nitto EXO Grapplers?
I had Exo Grapplers 285/70r17 on my '08 FJ for winter/daily driving duty. I also had ATXs in the same size on my Sierra 1500. I didn't have any complaints for either tire. I live in Northern Michigan, where there's snow about half the year.
I know this is an old vid but hope to hear back. What lift do you have and What size are those tires on that jeep.. if you remember.. lol
Haha! I am glad you notice its an older video, that is the one of the old Anthem Jeeps, I do not remember the lift size specifically sadly, i'd have to guess close to a 4" lift!

Discoverer AT3 XLT is slightly quieter and noticeably smoother riding, but sacrifices a little snow, and mud traction to the Grabber A/TX

Why would there be? Lots of high quality all terrain tires on the market with two ply sidewalls.

I heard the wildpeaks changed there tread compound and there not lasting as long as they used too.
wear is dependent on the alignment/mods/driver input. Across any brand you'll find people getting above the stated mileage warranty. And then you come across those with rapid wear cases.
Good review, thanks. Too bad they don't have a 265/70R17 tire size for my 2020 Chevy 2500HD (E-load). I think then that I'll go with the Firestone Destination XTs that have a great rating by many that inlcudes both highway mannerisms as well as great off-road capability, ... or possibly the Discoverer AT3 LT/XLT.
I know this was two months ago- but they totally do offer that size now. I ordered LT265/70R17 E Load by mistake for my Colorado and had to cancel and switch to the standard load range in the same size.
@@XceedDriver thanks Thomas. Sorry I didn’t update this, as I found that out later as well. They’re an awesome looking tire for sure, and from all the testing I’ve watched or read, they’re in the top four for AT tires, without saying they’re the best, even though they would be in my top two. I purchased the .. wait for it… Firestone Destination XT, and happier than expected. Almost as quiet as my former Michelin A/S LT Defenders (that was the best surprise), and maybe the F’s reduce fuel mileage by a smidge (-1/3 to 1/2 mpg depending) that for the superior grip and all, over A/S, they’re worth it. Grip has been fantastic. I read that a Purchaser for a mining company in Arizona buys tires for their fleet trucks driving around the mine, and found the F’s Destination XT to be the most durable (he listed the Generals and other major brand AT’s he tried). Anyway, the F’s to me are the silent (not yet very popular) top contender.

Im no official source, but I ran those in a 31x10.5r15 on 15x10 steel wheels for a few years. Got about 35k miles out of them. They ride a bit rough and they're ridiculously loud once they get chopped up a bit. I recommend a kenda klever mt if you want a similar MT for a similar price. They rode much smoother throughout their entire life.

@@betogray9765 I had them on a 2000 ford explorer 2wd 4.0 v6 for the first bit, and then they got put on my AWD 2000 explorer 5.0 v8. The full time 4x4 and relatively high torque on the 5.0 meant it was tougher on tires, but they were about the same. I would not run those MXTs on anything bigger than a midsize truck or SUV. My brother did run a set of those kendas on his 3/4 ton cummins for a while, and he said they were okay for the price. For a little more money, but not as much as nittos or toyos, I really like Amp tires. I've been running their Terrain Attack AT hybrid on my half ton dodge and absolutely love them. They mostly do larger rim sizes I believe.
@@The.Dodgefather I have a OBS F150 that I'm looking for tires for, but it's got 15 in, and I really don't want to spend a bunch of extra money for new rims. Kind of stinks that some companies aren't making those smaller sizes.
@@betogray9765 it definitely does. I like big rims as much as anyone else, but on older vehicles I just love the look of 15s. My current set on my explorer are dick cepek trail country exp in a 31x10.5r15 and they were dirt cheap. They're more of an all terrain than a mud terrain but I'd buy them over and over. They'd do good on a half ton too.
General grabber ATX ain't got nothin on Falken wildpeak AT3W. Got a sweet deal on a set of Wildpeak AT3W and I tossed aside my GG ATX. They had about 70% tread left and luckily a buddy wanted em for what I was asking. The Falkens are way more quiet, eject gravel and other rocks much better than the GG's do, feel like the wet performance is much better, especially in areas where most cars are prone to hydroplane. When I had the GG's I felt the level of control diminish. With the Falkens, I tried hitting the exact same spot on the elevated interstate section in heavy rains and my XJ had absolutely 0 wander from the front end, I did not need to make any excessive corrections, I did lose a bit more speed but that's from not hydroplaning and actually maintaining grip.
Are you running a lt tire or a p rated tire. I'm up in the air over g grabber, wildpeaks and the new toyo at3????
@@kimcapone4791 Lt 33x12.5 R15. I've had the GG ATX, Pro Comp MT2, BF K02, and Firestone Destination MT. All of them have been 33x12.5 and there's no competition at all when you consider the Falkens. I've notice a small decrease in average mpg, but I'm also in 4wd a lot more with the Falkens than I was with the others but I recently put new bearings in the T case kuz it got water in it and I didn't know and the old ones were crying and I was putting in a SYE.
@@kimcapone4791 oh yea and I'm running my Wildpeak AT3W's at 27psi pretty much all the time, I had my XJ down in a swampy bog last night to help pull my buddies XJ out of the exact same hole I've been stuck in, I got down in, turned around and winched him out, and then got back out of the swampy bog without having to winch myself. After I got out my buddy on his 35's couldn't get up the hill up and out of the bog and I had to give him another yank to get up. I'm posting on my ig right now, @mssilviacherk
how's the road noise, any change in gas mileage
You can hear a bit of a low growl with them but it’s certainly nothing too bad anytime you get a more aggressive tire there’s gonna be a little bit of noise
Purchased 4 new tires from general tires one was defective and sent back to general tire for inspection. They denied the warranty claim saying it had excessive wear and tear on a brand new tire. I requested to get my tire back and denied that as well saying they destroyed the tire and under their policy when you submit a tire for a claim they are now the owner of that tire. Just be aware of the bad customer service from this company. And they make up excuses for denied warranty claim.
How is the road noise?
I have these on a half ton 2021 gmc at4, I’ve got 8000 miles on them. 275/65/r20. At 50mph and above they are extremely quiet. Between 20 mph and 45 mph they are very noisy. So noisy that I am looking to get something different. Most of my driving is pavement. Not had them in snow yet, so cannot comment. Light Off roading is all I’ve done with them and they are great, however they hold and then throw rocks far worse than any tire I’ve ran.
Looks like a K02 tire, how does it compare?
More siping. Two ply sidewall vs 3 ply, but same overall thickness (or so I’ve read in a few articles). Ranks higher on Tire Rack’s reviews. Hard to find too much negative opinions on them, but can’t please everyone. I’ve read numerous opinions suggesting that they pick up where the KO2’s leave off in every area they fall short.
A better reviewed tire than KO2 without the BFG brand name. Common complaints on KO2s aren’t a issue with these ATXs
Had the KO2`s on my Tundra. Now I have the Grabbbers. The Grabbers seem to grab and throw a lot more rocks than the BFG`s. That is my main complaint. Other than that, the ride is quiet and smooth.

I was told they don't make 235 but do make 245
Will the 245x65-17" tires fit my Dodge without rubbing anywhere ?
I had 255/70/16 on a 2010 Jeep Liberty. It’s basically a nitro. I had no rubbing. It should fit
My two cents is that a slight size up from a 235 to a 245 should be okay

@@franktstets8037 just checked. They are .5 inches more in diameter and .3 inches wider of a tire. You should be good to go with that little of a difference on a nitro
My dodge nitro fits a 225 75 R16. I'm looking at these too

It’s just piss poor they don’t make RWL in 20 inch wheels.
I put the at2 on my discovery 4. 40k miles and have 5mm tread. Contemplating the renegade rugged terrain next. Anyone had these?
