If you’re fully committed to the show, than I’d recommend not reading the comic, I love the comic, but if you want the show to surprise you, than stick with the show.
Alternatively you could just read the first 12 issues, considering that is largely what was adapted in season 1.
Atom Eve is so underrated. She's basically Doctor Manhattan and Marks friends didnt even know who she was. smh
She's not that underrated. She's strong but she's not as durable as any of the heavy hitters we've seen so far so she can still easily get smacked if someone got the drop on her. She's like a glass canon
@Brayden Thomas I read the comics. And if you did you should know she's not a heavy hitter. She doesn't stand a chance against an average Viltrimite, she can summon a lot of energy for one big blast but after that she's useless for awhile. And she can regenerate but it's not a Deadpool style "I can spam this" regeneration.

Animation style has improved boys I like it
You guys made me realize something. The end of the first episode reads as a "this isn't what it looks like" type of thing. We waited the whole season to find out what the big twist was, and... nope. It was exactly what it looked like. Can a lack of a twist be considered a twist?

yeah, the writing of that part is confusing to say the least
I genuinely feel like that if the writers gave more a shit about amber's character besides her just being "omg cool feminist girlboss!" she could've been really good. like if they had broken down just exactly /why/ amber was upset than just "i knew you lied to me" it could've been good! like with what eve said to invincible abt how he didn't choose and just led her on while constantly ditching her w/ weak explanations like. an actual couple minutes exploring amber finding out and exactly why she was upset (maybe she felt unimportant to mark and maybe that he was just playing with her and being upset that he was just gonna let her go on like that for however long. or maybe she called him a coward not bc he left but instead because he refused to make a hard decision to either tell her or dump her) couldve been really really but noooo the writers needed the twist that "she knew all along bc she's smart she's a strong independent woman who doesn't take shit!"
Amber is such a hypocrite I fucking hate it, my only hope is Mark calls her out for it next season. But that would mean this is a setup by the writers and I never give writers the benefit beforehand.
This shows how much you can do with animation and comic book based stories. I hope Invincible starts a new trend for this kind of thing

On the point of a 'cold' Hell, in Dante's Inferno the deepest circle of Hell, where Satan resides and where the souls of traitors are kept, is a frozen wasteland and the beating of Satan's wings creates freezing winds so I think the Darkblood character causing the room to get very cold when he arrives is pretty cool.
Invincible was a lovely surprise, it was up there with some of the finest superhero stuff on tv n cinema. It was better than most Marvel n definitely DC stuff. It was like the opposite of Jupiter’s legacy

Most of the DC animated stuff is really good I loved invincible some of the race swap stuff and lefty politics worried me but the show out shined all of it

If mark isn't waking up every night with nightmares and PTSD he truly is invincible. I saw atleast one kid and I'm sure there were more in that train. Mark must have felt their little bodies shredded against his man I would be on suicide watch.

Seriously, even if you don't like comics I cannot recommend the original run enough. Its 144 issues, you don't need to read any other material, though there is some side stuff that explores numerous side characters. Check it on comixology, it's worth your time.

I kinda disagree with your coming of age statement. When mark accepts the reality of the situation and squares up to stop his father, I think that really showed his growth. Also even knowing that he wanted more time, when Cecil called him at the end for help, he didn’t hesitate to take the responsibility only he could shoulder.

I’m almost positive he does care for and love his wife. The whole pet thing seems completely disrespectful and demeaning though the eyes of humans, but that’s just a product of his long life span. I’m sure almost every dog owner would not just go and kill their dog and not feel any remorse. It’s fucked up, but Omni-Man does love and care for Debbie.

I feel this season was kind of Amazon testing the waters for what they see as their “Game of Thrones” show in The Boys. Homelander to his son in a late season of the boys, is to Omniman and Invincible in this first season
Well their game of thrones is definitely going to be the Wheel of Time and the LotR since those 2 are actually in the same genre as GoT

This review came out, I stopped a minute or so in, went and watched up to episode 6, and then went back and showed my girlfriend and finished it two nights ago. I think without the coming of age shit, my gf wouldn’t have bought in, because she really wasn’t into it until the college tour episode. I knew she liked Avatar and Korra so I think she related more to the fun character dynamics more than the overall Mark plotline, which I honestly agreed with since by the end of the season all we could talk about was how Mark was just constantly eating shit

After reading the comics, Omni Man was lucky that Battle Beast didn't notice him. BB was toying with the new Guardians, he could have easily made mince meat of everyone on Earth at this point in the show. Dude is #2 strongest in the galaxy

Just got to say I'm not a fan of Mark and Amber is a couple only because of how she reacted when he told her he was invincible it seems like a very toxic response and honestly if the very beginning she kind of showed hints like Omni man of having a dark side
It is a toxic relationship hopefully the writers address it in the next season. The comics were kind of progressive so maybe they'll comment on the negative side of feminism.

I think omniman is purely referencing the difference in lifespan between them.
He could have said alot worse about debbie, but didn't and I'm not gonna count that against him.
The difference is Robot was/is human. The robot was a place holder.
