Remember when this came out. I watched on MTV over and over crying. I remember the real footage and the hope in my heart. True unity. I have a piece of the wall! Ronald Reagan, standing in front of the wall, “Gorbachev ! Tear down this wall!“. Gorbachev, Reagan, and John Paul, the second working together! Imagine generations of families, reunited! How many years we had spent at school doing drills for nuclear fallout! Brings Hope me for future now.

You can't impose a leader or even a system on a country, especially one like Russia. Many other former communist countries transitioned to a democratic system, the difference being that Russia feels it's better than them because it has nuclear weapons and a big army and used to subjugate surrounding countries to serve it. Russia had all the natural resources and even when investment to become fully integrated into the world order but instead it's leaders and even oligarchy wants to go back to the past. If it hadn't been Putin it would been someone else. In the West we have people like this, Trump and Boris Johnson spring to mind, who want to turn the clock back, the only difference being we do have some checks and balances, although I guess they thought that in the early 1930s in Germany.

Good stuff, man. Klaus Meine has one of the classic rock voices, perfect for ballads. When I first heard this song on the radio, I teared up. I still do sometimes. Now, though, I think it's because the hope for the future that the song and we ourselves envisioned didn't last. We went from an all too brief time of togetherness back to almost the same old Cold War with only slightly altered players.

They put a short video of the "tank man" during Tiananmen in China. I've heard China won't even allow pics nor the words "tank man" to be posted on the internet. The people have gotten around it by posting edited photos of the "tank man" but they put a row of rubber duckies over the tanks. There are various edited versions to get around the censors.

Unique moment in rock history and also a disappointing song which has a curiously great solo. It's because of this song particularly why this band is not known for their heavier and also more creative albums and songs, which were mostly from the 70s. I'm a huge fan since 25 years ago and since I've had the luck and the patience to go through their discography at that time, it didn't take me a long time to realize that this song is hugely overrated and their legacy, in a way, is basically tarnished, since people kind of only know their easier, pop stuff, whether it is a rocker or a ballad. Well, at least I'm glad they sold many albums and are rich. As for "Wind of Change", it doesn't do the band justice for sure.

you see people enjoying this song and getting emotional about it's meaning and you feel the urge to say it's kind of sh*tty just to stick out. What can I say, you sound like you're 12 or something

I always associate this song with one-hit wonder Jesus Jones' "Right Here, Right Now," a band and song with which they have absolutely nothing in common other than being about the same topic, and that they both topped the US charts at approximately the same time. I think I bought both cassette singles in the same trip to the record store, actually.

Jesus Jones weren’t one hit wonders in the UK. Right Here Right Now wasn’t even their biggest hit here.

I left Germany in 83 ,went to the 101 and got out late 84 after my 4 and when that wall came down I thought about all my German friends who were going to be able to see their friends and family. There's a huge piece of that wall at THE MOST Syracuse NY. 8 miles from my house

The last wall which you saw coming down. Was from Rodger Walters concert, after the Berlin Wall came down he came up with the idea recreating” the Wall ( Pink Floyd album)” with various artist, as he had split from Pink Floyd. The scorpions played at that concert. They sang in the flesh, and run like hell with Rodger. Van Morrison , sinead O’Connor , Brian Adam’s to name just 3. There are clips on TH-cam. But you have reacted to most of the artist on your channel.

I must have been asleep when this was popular, but I feel like I'm hearing this for the first time and not sure how that's possible. I like it. Beautiful song.

Scorpions could capture "the air" of what people were living through that time so that We can still feel it now, amazing...
I hope humanity can learn from that epic moment. Thanks Scorpions and many thanks for reminding us this video

Scorpions was the epicenter of my teenage years…. From Blackout to The Zoo and everything in between. I feel so lucky to have had those years in the 80’s as my youth. I can really appreciate how great it was now, when I see what the world has become.
