    I just saw this video, and you pretty much confirm my own feelings about Aeolus.
    I have it, Atrium, and Verite Open (ZMF fanboy I guess 😆). The other 2 are "better" headphones in most every way, though all 3 are different. But I still listen to the Aeolus, when I just want to listen to music and don't want/need to listen "critically" but more just listen and chill.
    Your characterization of Aeolus as a "warm blanket" plus a couple of other things you said made me smile and think "perfect stoner headphone" 😁.
    Random thought, I know ...
    One thing about the Aeolus that surprised the hell out of me is how much it will "scale" with a different amp. I was using a Schiit Jot 2 and a Valhalla 2 (both great amps for the price), first with a Bifrost 2 and now a Yggy OG DAC.
    I upgraded to the Burson Soloist 3X GT, which is a pretty amazing amp. When I first listened to the Aeolus with it it really seemed like I was listening to a Focal Clear!
    😉 Or at least in some ways. I didn't think the Aeolus was capable of such detail, resolution, and clarity.
    I know some "critics" are unimpressed with the Aeolus, but it really is a lot of fun, a very enjoyable listen. But it needs a significant amount of burn in time to become what it's capable of. I was initially unimpressed with the "slam" and enjoyment factor I read so much about, it was pretty closed in for a while...
    Keep up the good work, I enjoy your reviews!

    Hello, thanks a lot for a very good and useful review. How would the Aeolus compare to the Focal Clear MG and the Hifiman Ananda? I ask because I'm planning to upgrade my Ananda with the Aeolus (I'm also considering the Focal), and use them with a Naim Atom Uniti Headphone amp. I listen mainly to classical, jazz and to a lesser extent, folk and acoustic. Best regards, Ignacio

    I have ZMF Aeolus and Eikon, love both and looking for a little upgrade - do you think Atrium will replace any (both???) or I should consider Atrium being a complimentary pair (so yet another headphones at home). Also, how Aeolus, Eikon, Atrium compare to Meze Liric? I think the Atrium fits most of your criteria, though it might be lacking a tad bit in the macro details… but not by a lot. Personally I think the Atriums are an upgrade to both the Aeolus and Eikon, but overall not in specific regions… both the Aeoulus and Eikons are beasts in their own respect… Eikons for the low-low, and Aeolus for the warm-warm ha!

    • @TylersEclectic
      @TylersEclectic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I like the Atriums more ha! The HD800 is still stage width king and I think detail is slightly more present. Atrium has noted depth and height. Also atrium has way better presentation to me, the mids smoke the HD800 and the lows are so good, while not being overwhelming

  • @PinePizza
    @PinePizza 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    University doesn't exactly make me rich so the Aeolus sounds good for me. I love the HD6XX and just hope it's more or less an upgrade.
    Getting the Atrium in Europe would cost me more than 3k depending on the materials and the Aeolus is so tempting because it's cheaper and because I like laid back sound.
    How big is the Aeolus' stage in comparison to something like the HD600?
    Watches the video to the end.. The Aeolus sounds tempting and the Atrium sounds like the best headphone ever but it's so expensive, christ.

    I just bought a pair of Stabilized Atrium today. A Purple vibe so I think you would approve!! I'm curious if you ever did any pad swapping on the Atrium? I saw DMS recommending the BE2 Suede Perforated. It's all greek to me!! I've got the Universe Lambskin Perforated and Universe Suede Perforated in the order. I'm wondering if I should tell Zach to switch one pair of pads out for a different pair like the BE2 Suede Perf which I think were for the Verite HP's.? Tyler, which headphone from the headphones you've heard or from the one's you currently own, separates the instruments the most to where each instrument sounds as tho they each have their own dedicated speaker? usually cheap digital (my dac/amp combo is $500) can sound congested and it is hard to make out even instruments that have leading roles. i usually have to close my eyes to try to make out electric guitar melodies playing in the background and even then it is very difficult. Not sure if this would fall under imaging or soundstage, or both, but i suspect your spring dac does a good job of separating the instruments. so any congestion could come down to the headphones. also, which have the best musicality, that engaging fun factor that makes you groove to the music the most?

    • @TylersEclectic
      @TylersEclectic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If looking for a headphone under $500 with good imaging and separation… I’d look at planars… they’ve always had the best imaging and separation… though it’s rare for me to like them a lot. Outside of that maybe Senn HD600/660s … or look into some IEMs if you are ok with things in your ears, as those have the most bang for your buck. Check out Audiodiscourse website for good reviews on IEMs! They are my go to for them ha!
