    I'm not surprised by the performance of the Gryphon cables. After all, Gryphon is a complete hi-end hi-fi system company. They design, manufacture and build all their components (pre, amps, cables, power supplies, dacs, speakers, isolators) the exceptions being turntables and acoustic room treatment. Those Vikings don't play. They come to take over. For those who can afford $250k system, they are a one stop shop.

    Looking forward to the Pandora with the Mephisto and VIP cables coming together. Will be interesting to listen to hear your thoughts on your listening experiences. Thanks Jay!👍😊

    After reading the description of the cables on the Gryphon web site, I think they took a lot of the learned engineering in cable design over years of working cables and applied the knowledge in making the cables. The cables should be quite good. I am curious to listen to more music as the system continues to burn in as well as after the pre-amp inclusion. I personally say that one should have multiple cables and then rotate. It's a shame that different cables seem to sound different. In this case, settle with the Gryphon for a while. If it ain't broke - don't fix it.

    I feel whenever possible, go with vendor’s own interconnect and speaker cables. Think about continuity of conductors they used inside and outside boxes. They must share a lot of common stuff including solder, mechanical connections. Plus they want to sell you gears not cables that leads possibly reasonable cost for their cable.

    Well,once you've got the Pandora and another couple of Gryphon mains leads you'll have to try their own speakers for the full Gryphon sound! Which I've only heard bettered by Living Voice Vox Olympian speakers with a full Kondo Audio Note pre,power and cable loom-but it is crazy expensive. Totally agree about sticking with one manufacturer when it comes to pre,power and cables-they were all developed together,so there should be instant synergy as you have found yourself. That's been my experience using DNM kit over the years,been very happy with it for years and never felt the inclination to go further(nor had deep enough pockets to make a significant improvement). Have really enjoyed being along on your journey though,a real education,there's not much good content out there when when your up at this level and glad you finally got to Gryphon-they really are something special. Cheers from Scotland-Land of the Fyne's

    I can relate I bought a Gryphon Diablo 300 and now need to upgrade my cables too. I am using the built in DAC right now so I'm thinking of just upgrading the speaker cables. Have you tried them yet?

  • @m.r.r.3018

    Most cables are equalizers to some extent, using the cables a component where design with is always a good idea. Gryphon gives you that opportunity. Time to find a more neutral cable for your future amp trials too, Odins are overdoing the treble, gives you extended details, but is this the sound the amp designer intended ?

    Jay spot on with what you said, great video. Are you using a power conditioner at the moment? My question for you in the question video was which do you value higher and what improves sound more a good quality power conditioner or good quality power cables? You notice the difference with streaming, the next step is to buy a streaming music server where you can rip or store your own music, I know you don't want to be getting up to change a CD all the time so this is a good step. Recently purchase an Innuos music server and ripping my CDs and adding music to it, really convenient using the app to play music and sounds better than Tidal.

    Are the Gryphon cables marked with direction?
    Because all cables has a direction where they sound the best and the difference can be as big as changing to different cables.

    • @markalldritt
      @markalldritt 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed. I’ve experienced this several times when I accidentally switch direction with RCA cables. For XLR cables, the male-female plugs dictate cable direction.

    So when are the gryphon speakers coming in? Via the logic of the video you can’t hear that amps true capability or character until you get what it was voiced with, which would be gryphons, yes?

    • @net_news
      @net_news 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      how do you know? I doubt Gryphon voice their amps with just one brand of speakers... in fact, their amps are much more popular than their speakers so It's very likely they voice their amps with other more popular speaker brands.
