Before I comment I want to take on board that I am listening to a utube video thru a quality tablet and headphones. Having said that this is a beautiful piece of music I have heard many times in audio comparisons, including here on this channel with the gryphon/agostino comparison. There is a common theme here regardless of where I hear this track or most other tracks. There is too much colouration present likely due to inadequate room treatment. A panel of Speaker Designers who are famous commented that most of what we hear is not the direct signal coming from the speakers, it is up to 60% room reflections. I have spent many years tackling this problem . Once you reduce these colourations from the room the music you are left with is truly a joy to hear.

The sound is as good as your setup. Looks and sounds beautiful. It’s as if on this song you finally nailed it. No over reverb, dynamics or fake effects. It gives you the emotion in the voice without the ending fireworks blasting to much at you. Will be tough to beat but maybe you can do it still. How? You show us. Thanks again for pushing the enveloppe.
I thought i miss the wilson xlf and migico m6 sound in your room..this setup prove me wrong ..the vocal was so there , rhe center of attraction..the musical instruments just as supporting role..there is s cohesion in music..

Sounding great. Tube preamp with SS mono amps is they way I have my system set-up. The Solution preamp with the Solos sounded so good it would be neat to hear this Vac pre with the Solos vs Solution pre with the Solos.
Focals proving to be the better speaker IMO. Faster, clearer more dynamic than the Wilson, which seems veiled and slower in comparison. The mephisto monos + vac preamp + focal is the best setup you have had by far. Imagine you had the Stella or Grand Utopia in there...!
System sounding very coherent, possessing that "breath of humanity". Great synergy with the Focals. It's been a while since I've heard Focal (at that time JM Lab) set up with proper components to bring out their best. Your system shows off what they are truly capable of.
VAC. I try to see all the best and I keep coming back to their sound room. Great choice. Now if we could just pull off a Axpona, I can see the Gryphon? My budget is Magnepan and now I want to hear those electronics on a every man speaker choice. The artist, fed by none other than Roger Waters. Another must have.
The overall sound is extremely good. Very clear detailed and smooth. Not sure if it’s the beryllium tweeter or what it is, but I think these speakers will cause listener fatigue over long periods of listening time.
I know a guy who uses a similar setup; the VAC Signature with Gryphon Mephisto. Swapped gear with him- took a part exchange deal for his Soulution amps with my VAC Signature preamp. Coming from tube preamps and solid state amps, still very hard to beat as a combo. Might want to go back to that with a VAC Master or swap the VAC Signature again to hear how the Soulution 511 sounds with tube. Good thing is the low output impedance of the VAC preamps makes them compliant to solid state amps. In fact was thinking of getting the CH Precision A1 for the VAC preamp.
Jay, thank you for doing what you do and showing ultra high-end finest gear! I guess I’m one of a few here who liked Wilson’s presentation better than Focal’s. To me this video sounded thin, a bit bright to the extent of being harsh, with lack of bass and body. Not my type of sound.
I like what you play . I know this melody very well , i listen to a lot of systems , direct thru headphones , from Tidal and cd .. I can tell you , i not like inflections of voice in highs , not have a few little details , is not very fine , is some how hard ( i not suspect hard mebrane of tweeters because i use diamond tweeters ) . But i listen this detail with Wilson XLF to you . Otherwise seems ok ! I like details in mid bass , some details in mids , but mids is little in front for my taste . BR
I think that most people would agree that tubes reproduce vocals better than SS, and this song confirms that. The dynamics of the horn seem a bit limited, but it is non-offensive and easy to listen to with no horn harshness.
Jay - great sound - natural, transparent and balanced. You've working very hard to put this level of sound and synergies together! I replayed your Jul 20 Gryphon videos---when is the Apex amplifier coming? And, stereo or monos?
The resolution is amazing, it's natural nothing sounds hyper. I do not like hyperbolic sound it's not normal it sounds fake and not true to life not to mention fatiguing. Example von-s
I’m going against the grain here…I still prefer the Wilsons. Maybe it’s my bias as I’m a Wilson fan. Ultimately I can’t say with certainty which sounds better via TH-cam. I’m interested to hear your long term analysis.
Not sure what to think about this.... The presentation seems more forward / in the face then with the Wilsons and on the edge of deformation, sounding a bit harsh therefore at the dynamic extremes. But it could be that my headphones can't handle the dynamics...
It’s sounds rather weird to me, on the iPad it seems well balanced, but when played thru a higher resolution system it sound imho “Hifi” and very unreal it’s has a strange “glassy” and frequency unbalanced quality which although not objectionable is far removed from any sort of naturalness , I appreciated people who have lost their high frequency hearing may think this sounds Ok, but to quote Jay if you cannot hear this maybe being an audiophile isn’t the best choice for a hobby , just keeping it real lol
I can hear the layers of the music but I listen to mid-fi compression files and I feel the song is using some kind of compression technique where it could is to loud.
Such a nice system. A brighter presentation but the audiophile qualities are unmistakable and you still have some tube color. Maybe the speakers but I've heard Raidho speakers have such nicer tone / timbre but maybe that system is even pricier than this.

Call me a doubter or, skeptic or even part deaf but, when I listen to what you play over TH-cam, I simply cannot hear the high fidelity, or super high fidelity coming /translating through. Don't get me wrong, if one listens to tracks direct from TH-cam, such as the audiophile tracks or playlists for audiophiles on TH-cam, they do come through. I'm talking about dynamics, stereo imaging, separation, depth of field etc. If you listen to certain speaker listening reviews when they are microphoned up probably such as new record day TH-cam channel I can sort of sometimes hear the fidelity of what he saying regarding loudspeaker reviews or avshowreports it's the same thing. Again however on your channel I just can't hear anything regarding transients, dynamics, stereo imaging, depth of field, etc etc regarding high fidelity coming through, and it's the same thing for the OCD hi-fi. Channel.. This is of no disrespect to you or them, I actually listen to your comments regarding certain products more than the listening test because of this. And I value your opinion and trust what you say regarding your findings. And I take into consideration that you make it very clear regarding your subjectivity and that comes across better than the actual playback. Maybe, just maybe, it's me. However like I say, I like your channel and I'm a subscriber and supporter of what you do, I like what you say about certain systems and components and I value your opinion knowledge and expertise etc etc. Keep up the good work and I love your channel... Possibly this is the best that you can get from those speakers - they have a tendency to sound bright so this would be one of the best matches.

Amazing airiness and spacious sound. Holographic even on my iPad Pro and earphones.

Overloaded the mic several times but the system sounds very good. Still a little hot in the tweeter range and a little bit thin in the mids.
